A Postcard A Day - Friday 3 May 2019 - Friday Smiles

Hello lovely ladies,
here we are again on Friday. How are you all? I have got a stompin' cold! I'm writing this at midnight. But i really should be in bed.

Today I have seen the oncologist for my yearly check-up and again I have been given the 'all-clear'! That puts it all in perspective and my cold suddenly seems nothing.

Let me show you a few postcards that have made me smile:
This one came from Germany and celebrates everything to do with reading. It is my ideal to sit in a comfy chair with a good book, the cat and a nice drink by my side. The artist's name is not on the card unfortunately.
The stamps are lovely. The large one shows a part of the Harz Bergfichtenurwald,
at 1142 meters the highest elevation in northern Germany, an untouched world opens up that rarely meets us , Starting at the Brockenstraße, the approximately 200-meter-long jungle trail leads through one of the last mountain spruce forests in the entire central European area. Surrounded by up to 300-year-old spruce trees, all development stages of an untouched forest can be observed.
From altitudes of about 800 meters extreme weather conditions prevail: spraying rain, high snow mountains, bitter cold, thundering storms and about 300 foggy days in the year mark the weather of the mountain area. In this tundra-like environment, the Harz mountain spruce feels particularly well for thousands of years.
The second card also has reading as its theme. This card also comes from Germany and I can visualise myself on a bench by the water with a good book. Bliss.

This week i received a lovely Pocket letter from Portugal. It was a Disney swap. I like the little ducks with the cameras. (I like photography)
There were lots of goodies inside:

And this is the one I made for her.
As you can see it is Winnie the Pooh.

Saturday there was a local festival called the 'Moors and the Christians', which is of course a part of the history of Andalucia. Nowadays there is a fantastic parade in Cullar, not far from where we live. My friend Andy took some great photos:

I'm going to leave it at that. Now it's over to Annie's blog at A Stitch In Time and Virginia at Rocking your week Friday.
Have a good weekend!
There are some funnies at the end, as usual.
Hugs,
Lisca

  1. Your postcards were lovely this week. I was really impressed with the first one, which was a painting. You got some lovely and memorable stamps, too.

WOW, both you and your Disney pocket letter recipient did great work. I loved her ducks taking photos and your Winnie the Pooh was adorable.

Lovely photos of the parade your friend took. Nice you were able to share them with us.

I had to laugh at the adolescent funny, as well as the tape. Both had me almost rolling on the floor.

  4. Sorry I'm so late calling round today....this is the first break I've had time to get on the cumputer today cos I've had so many customers disturbing me [and I still have one to come before I finish at 5!]. I love to be kept busy but there are limits lol
Had a good chuckle at the funnies even though I have seen some of them before. The postcards are lovely as are the pocket letters.

  8. Great news from the oncologist. I am so pleased for you. I hope the cold soon goes too.
Lovely postcards. I love having time to myself to curl up with a book.
That pocket letter had a lot of fun things in it but I really like uour Winnie the Pooh.
Our Moors and Christians isn't until early June, but it is a very colourful fiesta. Lots to smile about at the end. I'm easily amused too. Kate x
