A Postcard A Day - Friday 29 April 2022 - Friday Smiles

 Hello lovely girls,

How has your week been? We are still in Granada, staying opposite the hospital where hubby is having his treatment.

I have obviously not been able to receive any postcards but I have bought some tourist postcards and this is one of them:

It shows the interior of the Alhambra palace here in Granada. We have visited several times  and it is exquisite.

This blog is about the good things this week, the smiles and the silver linings. I’ll be linking up with Annie at A Stitch In Time. Please join us if you have something to smile about.

I don’t have any collages this week as it has been a strange week. It has rained a lot and we haven’t been out much. Hubby had a bad day at some point and he was admitted to hospital where they sorted him out and he was able to be discharged again the next afternoon with new medication. The whole team at the hospital have been fantastic. I can’t praise them enough. I’m glad he’s feeling better and that is my big smile for the week.

Having coffee at one of the many coffee places in town. The little cake is called a pionono ( named after the pope Pio the ninth).

Our hostess has a cat called Flea ( because she had fleas when she was first adopted) and she once came into our room.
She sniffed everything and then just sat on the chest of drawers. (Smile).

The other smile is that Monday is a national bank holiday here and there is no treatment. All the radiotherapy machines are having a good overhaul according to the staff and we are planning to go home for the weekend. Our hostess is letting out the room, but we can leave all our luggage here so we can travel light. Apparently the weather is going to be good, which is nice as I’ve had enough of rain.

When hubby has his treatment, I go for a wander. I walked along this avenue that has the center bit pedestrianized ( how do you spell that?). There were lots of sculptures.

I’ll see if I can find some funnies and thinkies, and that will be it this week.

Have a lovely weekend wherever you are,

Take care,

Hugs,

Lisca

Sculpture of Nello and Patrache in Antwerp.
Literally a very large smooth statue of a boy and his dog sleeping under a cobblestone blanket. The artist is Baptist Vermeulen.

It's crafted after a British story called "A Dog of Flanders" by Marie Louise de la Ramée. She wrote the story after witnessing child labour and animal abuse in Belgium. The story is supposed to have happened in the Antwerp sub-city Hoboken.

Not many people in in Flanders nor Antwerp/Hoboken knew the story until it was noticed that many people (really busses full) came looking for the statue as the story is extremely popular in Japan.

I am SO glad to read about Graham. Great news. Those are some beautiful sculptures. We will take your rain if you want to send it my way.

Your smile makes everything worthwhile. Cute funnies. Hope you can get to your PO and pick up any postcards that may have come your way. Have a great bank holiday, dear Lisca.

I am so pleased to hear that everything turned out okay and you are full of smiles so things must be looking up. What a great place to visit too. I know we were supposed to visit there when we went to Spain but for some reason the trip was cancelled but can't remember why. Loving the funnies too. "Now what was I supposed to be doing next!" Oh yes Lol! Take care and hope you both have a lovely Bank Holiday. Hugs, Angela xXx

and before I forget, I used to make cassette tapes and stop them before the talking! I love you and your husband... and wish you both speedy recovery completely recovered. Your attitude always amazes me with your outlook. Glad because the hospital is competent and kind not resentful at the fear of the newest blip in health. I am in awe of the statue of dog. The kitty comes in to show you belong and she accepts you, for as long as you need to be there. How nice

Hi Lisca, our Milkman does indeed still deliver to the door. We are lucky to have him as the local dairy shut so he now comes all the way from Newark to Lincoln which is about 21 miles by car. All though I don't know how many people still have it delivered it is obviously enough for them to keep coming though I believe more people started having it again during the Covid lockdown. Have alovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
