A Postcard A Day - Friday 1 March 2018 - Friday Smiles

Hello lovely peeps,
How are you all? Have you had a lot to smile about? I have, even if it is just the weather. It is warm and sunny and it has only just turned March.  We have our meals outside every day and it is lovely.

First off are a lot of smiles as I have been receiving something in the mail every day. Here is a lovely black and white postcard of Audrey Hepburn. It comes to me from Germany, from the federal state of Saarland, which is next to Luxumbourg.

The stamp is also very nice. It commemorates 1000 years Worms cathedral which was consecrated in the year 1018. It is built in the Romanesque style.
Here is a photo (from Wikipedia) of the cathedral as it is today:

The second card comes from Florida, from a Disney Park. It was sent by Clint, who is a pastry chef in one of the park's restaurants.

My week has been about receiving things in the post so it seems. This is one of the things I received. A pancake mould. It was a promotion and I got it practically for nothing.
We don't normally make American pancakes so I had a go and they turned out well

and very delicious with the Maple Syrup we managed to get at Lidl.
Something else I ordered online are my Senseo coffee pads. I like the Cappuccino Choco, but they are not available outside the Netherlands as far as I know. So I went online and I could only buy them in a box of ten. So ten it was!
I have also been doing some crafting. I have discovered Pocket Letters. I have made three now but I can't show you until the recipients have received theirs (I posted them yesterday). It is a swap and I am swapping with someone in Hungary and someone in the UK.
They are little ATC size cards in a folder. Behind each card you put a letter, a teabag, a bit of ribbon, some embellishments etc. All nine cards are swapped and sent.
This is what they look like from the internet (not mine, it is made by someone called Sue Harris)
I also did some scrapbooking. Here is hubby on the beach. I have been playing with my gesso and the templates I had lying about. The film strip is a die cut i have (very old it is too).

This is it from me this week. I'm going to link up with Annie at A Stitch In Time and with Virginia at Rocking Your World Friday. As always I will post some funnies at the end.

Have a great weekend and keep smiling!

Hugs,
Lisca

Two great cards this week, Lisca. I've been to Disney World in FL and also Disneyland in Anaheim, CA (California). Disney World is much larger and has more parks because Disney bought up all the land around the first park he planned. In CA, property is a premium, so it is much smaller, but still has many of the same rides.

I hate to tell you, but MY pancakes don't look like that. These are much thicker than the ones I make. I bet they taste as good, though, and with that maple syrup, I am now hungry.

Those cat photos are hilarious. But the best is the license plate! Hope you have a great Friday and weekend, too.

BTW, those pocket letters have been around for a few years. They were all the rage for awhile. I never got interested, because you had to follow a certain theme, which was usually something that didn't interest me.

Oh sounds like you had a lovely week, we too have been enjoying the weather, but it has turned cooler and wetter the last two days! I hope you have a fabulous weekend and week ahead.

What a lot of smiles this week my friend. Our weather has turned a bit cooler now but we really did enjoy the warmer sunny days we've had lately too. I love your LO and the pocket letters idea is really lovely....I enjoy making small works of art like that.
As for your funnies....just brilliant esp the clever car number plate.
Hugs,

You asked about Poppy dog...she's only 4 but is a heavy dog like her dad and it was suggested that a young puppy would encourage her exercise!!....I certainly know that having a 2 year old on a Tuesday increases mine so there may be something in it :-) :-)

Great mix of photos, artwork, and funnies. I laughed a lot at that California license plate.

Hi Lisca. My favourites today....now that's difficult! I love the Audrey H. Breakfast At Tiffany's pic. and the stamp, always love those. Your crafty stuff looks interesting and the kitty is so sweet. The funnies are brilliant so I guess there's nothing left apart from the food goodies and I shall ignore those Lol! You asked about the card and I will try and explain. It is difficult if you've not made one and you can't see the bit that alters the shape. Anyway here goes. When you've scored and cut the section take the right side and twist the front down and under so it goes to the back and what was the back comes to the front which leaves you with a narrow front piece and a wider back piece on one side. I think the best thing is to try and make one and then it might become more obvious what is happening. Until I made one I couldn't work it out either. The second photograph is how you would see it when complete and the middle section just sits up on it's own. The front strip is going to be part of the decoration. The sentiment can go there or on the middle flap. Now I had better get it finished for you. Sending hugs, Angela xXx

That is a very impressive cathedral Lisca, and it has stood the test of time well.
Isn't it lovely to be able to eat outside most days, before it gets too hot. We have had a wonderful spring so far.
I also have that pancake maker by it doesn't sit quite flat enough in my pan because they all leak into each other. I must have a go with my drop scone mix which is a bit thicker. Yours look great.
I haven't seen letter cards quite like that before but I used to take part in lots of ATC swaps in UK. Out here I was defeated by the slow postal service because the swaps were always time limited. I don't know anyone who does them now. You had pay the postage and include a stamped addressed envelope for your swap to be sent in, so it got too expensive for some folk. I have two big folders of ones I have received in the past and I still like to get them out to look at.
Love the scrapbook pages. Well done. I hope to get back to it when I have finished sorting out my room. Kate x
