WOYWW 341: desk, workshop and kitty

Hello folks!

Here we are again at WOYWW (which stands for Whats On Your Work desk Wednesday) where we have fun blog hopping and looking at each other's desks. Come and join the party. Here is the link for Julia who leads us in the fun: Stamping Ground.

The photo of my desk was taken yesterday afternoon, when it was warm and sunny.

I have received a few Christmas cards, two robins (what is it about Christmas and robins? I don't see the connection....), but the middle one is from Kate. She made this with her die cutting machine in vynil. It's very intricate and very beautiful.

The booklet in the fore ground is a 'Traveling Notebook'. It gets sent to different people from all over the world (who have signed up). The idea is to write something about yourself, your city, your country, your job or whatever you want to write about. (Some of these TNs are about recipes, but not this one. This one is a general one). I have written in two before so I still have the photos on my computer from the last one. The page that i am working on is about Caniles (where I live).

Apart from a Sudoku book and a doodle/tangle book, there isn't much on my desk.

Earlier this week I did a workshop for some ladies in the village and we made some Christmas decorations:
In this photo it is really evident that I live in a building site and that it is a work in progress....
Anyway, I did the white star for the absolute beginners as it is the easiest thing to do. And we also did the red star and the bauble (made out of die-cut shapes). One of the ladies is English and the others are Spanish speaking. The Spanish speaking ladies are desperate to learn English, so we decided we would speak only English! That was a laugh!

I'll leave you with our little kitty called Precious:
He's gorgeous and has beautiful coloring and stripes. Here he is playing with a piece of rope that hubby was hanging  up (or trying to) to exhibit the Christmas decorations we made at the workshop.

Monday we will be flying to Holland, so my next post will be from the Netherlands.
Have a good week you'all and remember the Reason for the Season!
Blessings,
Lisca

  1. Good morning, Lisca. That card is just beautiful - what a skill your friend has. Well done on the workshop - and well done to your Spanish friends for deciding to only speak English for the time you were together. Having done a Welsh evening some years back where we spoke only Welsh once inside the front door, I know how exhausting it can be. Someone asked me why and how I came to live in Wales. Took me ages, but got there with a lot of "What's ... in Welsh?" thrown in. Even managed more than one tense!
    Take care. God bless.

  4. A lovely post today Lisa. The first thing I liked was the 'warm and sunny' bit. here in Wales we have had constant rain and high winds for about 5 weeks now and the temperatures are too high! It should be cold and frosty by now! the other thing was your giant snowflake! I made one exactly the same and showed it at my craft group. Well done you for getting the ladies together! There's nothing like sharing time with friends and crafting!
Enjoy your trip and have a happy week

  9. I have a friend in France and we take it in turns to speak the languages - fortunately for me her English is better than my French - and we have such laughs! I am smiling at the thought of your workshop ..... thank you for sharing.

    Have a good week

  10. Hi Lisca, your workshop looks great fun, my spanish is quite limited although we always get through eventually! its lovely and sunny here today although weve had some cloudy mornings recently.
I guess the robin obsession is because we only see them at this time of year so they are associated with Christmas, unless anyone knows differently!
Have a safe trip to Holland, I'm guessing it will be rather cooler over there.

  11. Hi Lisca! I love the idea of the travelling notebook! It looks like a Moleskine! That will be my next art journal! Looks like you had fun at your workshop - it's always hilarious when when language learners try to speak English - I still make silly mistakes after having lived in the UK for more than a decade. I keep mixing up the pronunciation for kennel and canal - I asked a man the other day whether he puts his dog in the canal - he looked at me like I was crazy! Precious is thriving in your care - no longer a feral cat! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #35

  14. I think there is nothing better than crafting with friends, love it. My husband and I have gone to France skiing for about thirty years and spend some of the season at one resort in particular so have several friends there yet our French is still not very good because they will only speak English. I think they use us as their English teachers! Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 25

  15. Sounds like the workshop was great fun. Your kitty is adorable, I love seeing kitty pictures because I am so allergic to them, I can not even visit friends who have cats.
    Enjoy the trip.
    Happy WOYWW!

  18. Hi Lisca,
How fun to hold a workshop and share crafting with others. I am really missing that in my life. The local yarn shop is having a booksigning Saturday along with a knitting group session and I plan to go to that. I'd love to sit in a cozy shop and knit!

Speaking of which, you asked what I was knitting. It's a cowl. I'm knitting it on circular needles (knitting in the round). It's foolproof as you knit every stitch and you can never lose your place! Mindless knitting is what I call it. I had wanted to knit a scarf using the linen stitch, which I've never done before, but the yarn didn't really show off the design so I decided it wouldn't be the effort.

Thank you for visiting me already today. Have a wonderful trip and have a blessed Christmas if I don't have a chance to visit again.

    Happy WOYWW

  21. Have a lovely trip and stay safe.
It looks as if you ladies had a wonderful time, not too sure the snowflake is that easy - looks so beautiful. Great way to learn another language.
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me, Neet 11 xx
ps I don't know the connection with robins either

  22. I would have been by sooner Lisca, but my life took a major meltdown today when my washing machine hose broke. After I got all the water and mess cleaned up, I was off to buy a new hose and install it.

I nearly made a few of those snowflakes after I saw them on Darla's blog. But time has not been good to me this year, so I will put them on my maybe list for next year. Glad you had a chance to share the experience with others in your building.

    Happy belated WOYWW from #1.

  24. I don't believe I've ever gotten a Christmas card with a robin on it, but have gotten many with cardinals. The ladies at your workshop look like they were enjoying themselves. Merry Christmas, my friend!
