WOYWW 335 - about Flow, kittens and computers

Hi Folks,

It's Wednesday again! Peekaboo! We're going to have a peep at other people's desks to see what they're up to. If you have never done this before, visit Julia to know how this works. It's great fun.

But if you have come to see my desk, you will be disappointed. I'm not at home, but at our weekend home. This is what the desk there looks like:
On the left you see my diary (the large A4 thing) with some postcards that arrived today on top. Then in the middle is the latest FLOW magazine. It is the international version which I subscribe to. Have you heard of Flow?
It's a Dutch magazine for paper lovers. They also do a  a once-a-year paper crafting issue with lots of stuff like mini-envelopes, posters, a letter garland, stationery, craft paper, coloring pages, gift wrapping, labels, a flip-up house, stickers, paper dolls, gift bags and more. A real treasure trove! The yearly issue comes out this month and I have mine on order.

The kitten we rescued is doing well. He (yes, she turned out to be a 'he') is getting used to us and is letting us touch him. Since a few days he has even sat on DH's lap:
I'm still trying to sort out my computer. It's old (Windows Vista) and software or accessories that I buy, are no longer compatible. There is nothing wrong with it but I'd like to buy a newer version of PSE, but none of the newer ones work on Vista. So I'm reluctantly looking for a new desk top computer. I'm looking online as there are no stores that sell computers in this backwater. Watch this space....

That's it from me. I'm staying in all day today so I will visit as many as I can. Hopefully all of you. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you are all up to.

Have a good week,

Lisca

  4. aaw that's a sweet little cat Lisca, I'm glad he's found a home with you :o) The Flow magazine looks interesting, though I've never heard of it. Good luck with the laptop hunting - I hate having to change my PC, but I recently got a new one, also had Vista before and it's really worth the upheaval! Have a great week :o) Annie C #33

  5. So glad kitty found a good home. They are easy to care for and lots of company. I think my 2 (look like yours) even started talking !!! Computer world..seems every few years you have to revamp. Mine was slowing down and when I got the new one I had to update my printer and a few other things.Guess that's progress, but it's hard to dispose of working things, no one will take them to resell etc.
Have fun with your new magazine....I have to order some online also. But was very upset when one turned out to be DIGITAL only. more progress...but I like papers and books in my hands. Have a wonderful day. I'm off delivering to the resale shop, hope I don't bring much home .

  7. I hope that kitty knows how lucky he is! The magazine looks intriguing. I've just taken out a trial subscription for the Craft Stamper magazine. I really miss having something inspirational coming in the post regularly. If you buy a computer now, it's likely to come with Windows 10, which is lucky, cause you can bypass the whole Windows 8 palaver. Window 10 is much better! Hey, whatever happened to Windows 9, LOL? Happy WOYWW Lisca! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #31

  8. Hi, Lisca. Cute kitty --- I'll have to go back in your blog to read about him. I have so much catching up to do! I have never heard of Flow magazine, but it does sound like a good one. As for computers ---- sometimes all one can say is "grrrr" ! Other times, I could hug mine. Not happy with Win 10. Win 7 was a dream after Vista, and I wish Microsoft had just left things alone. I have to do a work-around to access my gmail account and it's frustrating. Hubby doesn't use google mail -- he doesn't have problems. Anyway, nice to visit again. Good luck with the computer.

  12. Your weekend desk has more on it than your home desk, do you cart everything there and how far is it? That magazine sounds like a great one, never heard of it

    1. No I don't cart anything apart from my laptop. It's about 30 miles (44 km). We have a fully equipped house although there is always something I want that isn't there, lol.

  15. Hi Lisca,
I noticed the magazine cover on your desk right away. I have never heard of the magazine. It looks very interesting and fun! So glad your cat is settling in his new home. My friends had a cat that they thought was a female so they names her Hazel. When they were told that she's actually a he they changed her name to Hazelnut. Haaa

As for the computer. I have had several Toshiba laptops and have loved them. I'm not crazy about Windows 10 but there is an upgrade to 10.1 I think.

I'm not joining in this week because there's nothing really to share.

    Hugs,
    Kay

Hope you're enjoying your holiday house!!!

  24. Hi Lisca, what is the weather like in your corner of Spain? Just wondering with you staying in all day.
The magazine sounds great and the little furry friend is lovely. So glad he is settling with you after the trauma of the vet visit.

    1. Today was really sunny and warm. We had coffee outside and also our lunch outside. Supper in Spain is late, and it is dark and cold then. We have now got the fire on. I can't do any computer stuff outside because it's too light, besides my beast of a laptop is more like a desk top and it's battery is long gone. I use it plugged in to the mains. So I have spent most of the day today indoors. I don't mind...

  25. For the computer you might try just upgrading to Windows 7, personally I think it all went downhill after that! I prefer PSE 9 or 10 and both will run on 7. Never heard of the magazine and congrats on the kitten!
    Happy Wednesday

  31. That magazine does look wonderful. I only heard of it for the first time last week, when somebody showed their copy on Instagram. Thanks for stopping by yesterday. In answer to your question, everybody uses my stamps, inks and dies. I provide everything required, along with refreshments, to make the projects each session.

  32. Hi Lisca, thanks for visiting my blog yesterday and for your nice comment about my House Bunting.
Ooo, the Flow magazine looks amazing. I've just been browsing their website and I'm soooo tempted by the Book - and the annual subscription!
Lovely little kitten - we have a rescue cat and he took a while to settle in, but he's really wonderful. It's definitely worth the work, when you rescue a stray animal, for the rewards they bring you. I hope he continues to settle in and helps to make your home happier.
Best of luck with looking for a new computer! Mine is getting old (2009 - six years...), but luckily I can still use it and load new software. Mind you, I have a Very Ancient version of PSE (which I like very much). I'm reluctant to upgrade it and don't really want a new laptop just yet either. Hopefully you'll find what you need, at a price you can afford.
    Have a good week!

  33. Hi, Lisca, the annual paper issue of Flow sounds wonderful, I'll have to see if I can get my hands on it. I've loved papers (and stickers and pens) since I was a girl. Hope you get your computer sorted out soon and to your satisfaction. Windows Vista wasn't a favorite (of the various versions) -- it does almost seem as if every other version of Windows is a keeper. Windows 3.1 was good, Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows 7. Guess I'm dating myself now. :-) Happy WOYWW and thanks for your visit. ~ Laura #57
