A Postcard A Day - Friday 1 July 2022 - Friday Smiles

 Hello lovely ladies,

I hope things are going well with you. Life here in rural Spain is hot and busy. We have had visitors (a friend from work)  last week and this week my cousin and his wife from the Netherlands are here. What a blessing. It is great to see them and to have them here. I'm writing this early on Friday morning while they are still asleep, so it is going to be a short post.

I still want to tell you about our smiles for this week, so lets begin with a postcard that arrived last week:

It was sent to me by Xenia in Germany. It's entitled: "Du hast die Macht" (=You have the power). The photo is from the Shutterstock, the Everett Collection.
There is no date, but looking at the clothing, it should be between the two world wars. He is wearing plus fours. This is what Wikipedia says about Plus fours:
Plus fours are breeches or trousers that extend four inches (10 cm) below the knee (and thus four inches longer than traditional knickerbockers, hence the name). Knickerbockers have been traditionally associated with sporting attire since the 1860s. Plus fours were introduced in the 1920s and became popular among sportsmen—particularly golfers and game shooters—as they allowed more freedom of movement than knickerbockers.[1]An "extravagant, careless style that fit right in with the looser fashions and lifestyles of the 1920s", plus fours were introduced to the United States by Edward, Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) during a trip in 1924.

The stamp is a beautiful digital stamp with baby mountain goats on it.
As I mentioned above, we have been busy with visitors, We have a guest room upstairs with a shower and toilet and a large terrace, so hubby can still have his naps etc.

We have had many highlights and many smiles this week. Partly because of our guests and partly because hubby is feeling a lot better. We saw the surgeon and the anesthetist and the stoma nurse and the nutritionist. (Yes that was a busy day). We got so much information that in the evening I had to sit down and write it all down in a timeline. We have not been given a date yet but the operation is going to be the second part of July and we will be told a week in advance and then all the prep is done at home. We even got the first Heparine injection to do ourselves pre-op. It's all very exciting.

My cousin is traveling through Europe in his caravan (they are retired) and I found them a camp site 10 min from here:
The camp site is small, only 7 pitches, but they also rent out some beautiful cave houses. I saw some flowering prickly pears. That is the first time. All the prickly pears in our area have been destroyed by some disease. But this one is doing well:
Below another picture of the camp site. The plant is an agave. This one was almost as tall as I am.

Here is my cousin parked up at the back of our garage:

The other smile this week was for my hubby as he went to buy a new pump. (to pump the water from the reservoir into the irrigation system) He was like a little boy with a new toy. Here he is with the guy from the shop. The guy is pouring fuel in it so that they can try it out. The picture was taken at the back of the store in their yard.

I'm going to leave you here. The gang will soon wake up. But of course I will leave some funnies at the end for you to have some extra smiles.
Have a lovely weekend,
Keep smiling!
Hugs,
Lisca

The one with the pebbles is not a funny but I saw them and thought of Angela....

Things have not changed much since 1764...

Only people of a certain age 'get' this next one. (Start singing ladies!)

This one is for Angela. These pebbles are so beautifully adorned!

Hi Lisca, great post today and it looks like another busy week. Men they just love playing no matter how old they are. Loving the goat stamp, you must have quite a collection. That looks like a great way to enjoy your retirement and I bet you're enjoying having your friends around for a while. Loving the funnies too. The clothes hanger looks familiar Lol! I really must get back to the pebble painting again soon, thanks for the idea. Wishing you a happy weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx

A lovely post Lisca. Sorry I don't think I got to you last week, you know why. Your comment to me came through as unknown. Luckily I saw our name at the bottom.

your jokes or messages are so funny, or in the case of the 1764 poem and the last one, VERY apt
so glad things are better with Graham and that you feel up to all the surgical rigamarole. Hoping it all goes perfectly... really, love, LeeAnna
