A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 8 November 2022 - T for Taos

 Hello lovely girls,

Today I really have a card subject that begins with a T!  Very appropriate for the T-Party hosted by Elizabeth and Bluebeard. Of course I will need a drink as well, but that will come later. Let's look at the card:

It comes from a Postcrossing friend called Connie. She lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
'The Taos area is located in northern New Mexico's high desert bounded by the Sangre de Cristo mountains. It's known for historic adobe buildings, long time artist colony, world class skiing and spiritual landscape.' The photos show (from top to bottom): Taos mountains, Taos balloons, Taos pueblo.
Connie mentions that the pueblo is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Reading up on the area on the Internet, I discovered it has the same climate as we have, so I would feel very much at home in Taos.

The stamps are really gorgeous. The forever stamp with the skull I should have showed you last week, when we had the Day of the dead. The additional ounce stamp with the Uncle Sam hats is very poignant with all colors and races. But my favorite is the Mariachi stamp. Perhaps because I like mariachi music and find it uplifting. (And also we have Mexican friends).

I could do with some mariachi music at the moment as life is not easy these days. My husband is still very ill, although on the bright side, we seem to have the pain better under control with a trans-dermal patch and Morphine injections.

Some days are better than others, but while his daughter was here there were some highlights:

Opening the sacks of almond shells in readiness of the cold evenings when we light the fire.

This is our little almond/pellet burner:

And here he is having a little scalp massage:

Now for my drink... As hubby is not able to eat anything, I can now cook whatever  I like. I made pasta alle vongole, which is Italian clam pasta. Of course I had a glass of white wine with that.

And here is the link to the recipe that is closest to the way I make it: Linguine pasta alle vongole.

My preferred pasta with this is also linguine (those flattened spaghettis). And I leave the clams inside their shells as I love to suck the clam out of the shell and taste the juices.

Now to finish I have a few 'thinkies' as Valerie calls them:

That's it from me today,

Happy T-Day all!

Hugs,

Lisca

  1. I love seeing your Taos postcard Lisca. I have been there 5 or 6 times, and I love it. I have friends who live there, and I feel lucky I have been able to not only visit them but to visit such a beautiful and interesting place. I hope you are taking care of yourself also. But your husband is looking good; It is good you have gotten the pain under control. And your memes are so true. People need to remember that it is really the basic things in life that makes it good. I hope you have a wonderful T day and some smiles in the week ahead. Hugs-Erika

Amazing how you see the positive, if it is your fav food. You are very strong. And you take care of yourself, too. Keep that up.
Nice to see your hubby smiling and not being in pain.
Wise ones as closure, too many take it all for granted... Hugs and a happy T-Day

  4. Your postcard is very pleasing, as I have visited Taos once or twice while spending time in Santa Fe, NM. It is indeed a beautiful place, and the Taos Pueblo is fascinating.

I am sorry to hear about your challenges, and I wish you continued strength in dealing with them.

  8. It's good that you have the pain more under control now and I love to see Graham's big smile. You both have such a great attitude. Good taht you take care of yourself as well and cook some good food that you love. I wish both of you much strength.
The card from Taos is beautiful. This is a gorgeous area that I visited several times. Taos Pueblo is a fascinating place, but also a bit uncomfortable to walk around as a tourist in their living space where probably none of us would like to exchange places with.
