A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 8 September 2020 - T for Tuesday

Hello lovely ladies,

It's Tuesday again and it's time for the T-Party at Elizabeth and Bluebeard's. Come and join us. All you need to do is bring a drink, beverage, or reference to a beverage. My drink will appear later on, but first off is my postcard for today:

It comes from China and features this cute (but mouthless) little doll in national costume. The Chinese characters spell 'flower' according to my Google translate.

The stamps are gorgeous:
This one has more Chinese characters on the left and again I did my Google Translate trick with the camera and it translates as 'Chinese people anti Japanese war' and 'Seven Years of victory in anti fascist war'.

I like the stamp with the children playing.

My friend and I went walking again, only yesterday we didn't do much walking. We went swimming in the thermal pool. It is at the end of this lake (Right hand corner, just out of sight).

The water level in the lake (reservoir) is very low as it has been a very dry year so far:

Down where you can see the lorry, there is a jetty and of course that is where the water normally is. Now it is half empty. The sad thing is that a lot of water get pumped out by a huge pump station, and piped to Almeria, a city on the coast.

Here is the thermal pool and my friend drifting rather unflatteringly in the warm water.

There was no one else there and the water was nice and hot. Bliss! It smells a bit of sulfur of course, but as it is in the open air, it didn't bother me.

Then yesterday afternoon we went to some friends for a BBQ. There are three couples that we regularly see and we don't bother with face masks. This couple is one of them. (Besides masks are very unpractical when eating....)
The above photo of my hubby was to be my ticket to the T-party  as my beer can is visible behind the candle. But it's not so clear, so lets have a better one:

This is me the other night (yes, it was cooler and I was wearing  long sleeves). My drink is a Bitter Kas, a drink that tastes a bit like Campari soda.

The vegetable garden is doing ok. We have  one more beetroot to harvest (This week I think)

And look at all those lovely chili peppers! (still green)

The tree below our house has yielded some lovely figs!

The tomatoes have not done very well. Quite a few of them have got blossom end rot.

That is it from me today,
Wishing everyone a very happy T-Day,
Take care,
Hugs,
Lisca

  1. That is a lovely postcard. I am amazed you have an app to interpret Chinese characters. What won't they come up with next?

Looks like you two had fun in the tidal pool. It would be a great place to cool off.

Your meal looks wonderful. It's always fun when you can have guests. I wish that were the case in the states, but we have too many hot spots and NO ONE is totally safe.

I told my friend Scott my Roma tomatoes had blossom end rot. He didn't believe me, so I took photos and sent them to him. I've not had a SINGLE Roma this year that was edible and Scott paid a FORTUNE for that one plant.

I've never heard of your drink before, but it looks refreshing. The drink in a glass bottle, not the can of beer, which I HAVE heard of (grin).

Thanks for sharing your postcard, time with your friend, your bbq meal, and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday. Hope you get a few tomatoes that don't have blossom end rot.

  2. That's a lovely postcard from China, and the stamps are very pretty, too. Glad you are still able to enjoy a social life and meet up with friends. The figs look so good, how nice to have them fresh from the garden. Have a great week, continue to have fun, stay safe, hugs, Valerie

  3. I am impressed with your garden. Mine was eaten by ground squirrels and we are also so dry. No beets for me this year. And nice to have friends you can go out with. Even nicer to have a thermal pool. I would definitely float around and enjoy that. I also have to say I like your polka dot top. I like polka dots and it jumped out at me. Hope you have a great week and t day. Hugs Erika

  4. Drifting in a thermal pool sounds heavenly! What a peaceful scene. Your drink is a pretty color. Your garden has done well, though I'm sorry about your tomatoes. Fresh home-grown tomatoes are hard to lose.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  6. I would be very tempted to take a pen and give that poor little Oriental girl a mouth. I love the stamp with the kids swinging.

We have thermal pools near us too.

Your garden looks great. Too bad about the tomatoes.

Happy T-Day. Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen

  7. Your beautiful post cards each week make me want to get out my own collections from my trips and see what I have. I think I've mentioned that my mother was a big collector of post cards and always had people who would send her cards from their travels.

    be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

  13. Hmmm beet root, still have some "fresh" one in the freezer.
Mistook your figs for Brussels Sprouts at first glance, maybe cause it´s gotten cold.
Yes, with friends we skip masks, also. Ellbow-greeting still, though.

  15. Awesome postcards and stamps. The thermal pool looks so beautiful. Love the color of the water. Not crazy about the idea of the sulfur smell as we are having problems with the sulfur smell in our hot water. Your hubby is such a goo sport to pose for a picture with a smile. Himself will not do that. Our garden hasn’t done well with the drought either. Except for the cherry tomatoes. Take care and Happy T Day
