A Postcard A Day - Friday 9 Feb 2018 - Friday Smiles

Good morning,

Here we are again, showing each other the smiles and silver linings of this week.

I received a couple of great pòstcards this week. In fact this one arrived yesterday:
Does that ring a bell for some of you?
This card was sent to me from the US by a 76 yr old lady who lives with her dog Ducky.

The second card is from Holland:
As I have asked for cards with traditional costume, I got sent this. It looks like an old fashioned poster. I don't know. The card does not mention it.

This week has been a fairly good week. I have done a lot of baking and cooking. We had some over-ripe pears on the fruit bowl. So I looked on the internet for a pear cake récipe. I found an Italian récipe. It uses flour as well as corn starch, which is new to me. The cake turned out very well.
I promised to show you some photos of our new meeting place. Our fellowship is going to meet in a bar! I'm not joking. We have rented an unused bar for our meetings.
It is 160 sq meters and has a kitchen as well as two toilets, airco and central heating.
Saturday we are going to paint it. The walls have Wall art on them which is not suitable for a church environment.
The kitchen is a mess and would not pass any food standard, but I spotted a bread oven.
We can have fun with that. I'm thinking pizza parties with the youngsters. Lets make our own pizzas, larking around with the dough, choosing the topping, cooking them in the oven and then the eating.

This place has a lot of potential, but for the time being we are just going to hold our meetings there.

I did some scrapbooking yesterday and made a lay out. I used to join CSI (Color, stories and inspiration) and I think I'll play along with them again. The prompt for this month has bright colours.

They are asking for hearts and flowers. The inspiration is: Forget, laugh and connect.

I made a page with the photo of our last day at the gym before the summer break. That was laugh, connect and not forget.
The colorsceme was spot-on:
I had a great time getting all the bits and pieces together.

That's it from me today. I'm going to link up with Annie at A Stitch in Time and with Virginia at Rocking Your Week Friday.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca

Now for some funnies:
Can't dance? Problem solved!

First I must apologise for there being no Mr Linky earlier....it was either an age related error or my head still not being 100% with this cold. Thanks for popping back to link up.
Your new ‘hall’ sounds perfect and I can see lots of fun being had by all there. Good luck with getting it just how you want it. Thanks for sharing your funnies...they got me chuckling.
Hugs,
Annie x

The cake looks fantastic, you too have been baking this week, Kate was tempting us with her bakes too. I hope you get your new church venue resolved and painted, the kitchen definitely looks like it has huge potential.

I hope you have a good weekend and week ahead.

hugs

Hello Lisca, lovely post. I did enjoy that first postcard - fits me to a 'T' and the illustration on the Dutch one does look vintage. My husband particularly likes pears so your cake would be just the thing to try out on him. Because he is on a diet we are not getting through so much bread so my most recent bake was bread pudding and also bread and butter pudding - both went down a treat and there's no stale bread left too. The layout is lovely and you did well to follow the recipe from CSI too. Have a great weekend. Elizabeth xx

I apologize for visiting so late. I'm having all kinds of problems with my keyboard. I will persevere one letter at a time. that's a beautiful vintage Dutch postcard.

So glad you found such a great place to hold your church meetings. Have a great weekend, dear Lisca.

A great post Lisca. I like the look of your pear cake.
You must be very excited about the new church premises. There looks to be plenty of space for weekday gatherings as well as for your services. My previous church in Huércl Overa used a bar for their services when I first went to it, but ours was still in use, so as soon as the service ended we had to lay up the tables before their dinner-time clients arrived! We did eventually move into our own building which was much better. But I am sure God doesn't mind where we meet in His name.
Love that last 'funny' about choosing colours. 'Many a true word is spoken in jest' etc.
Have a great week. Kate x

Lisca, I typed in "how to find on-screen keyboard for Linux" (my browser) and learned you still have to TYPE the letters. My keys often don't work for hours on end, sort of like they are sleeping. Right now they are working, but it may be any time and I will have to find words and letters that I can copy and paste into the text to make a sentence. Thanks for the advice, regardless.
