A Postcard A Day - Friday 31 March 2017 - Friday Smiles

Hello lovely people,

I'm sorry I missed last week. We were away and the site we were on didn't have wifi (I did have my laptop with me...)

It was my birthday and we decided to get away for a few days in our campervan.
We were in a small village called Canjáyar in the Almerian Alpujarras. The village had walking routes with arrowed tiles on the ground:
We enjoyed the tranquility and the mild weather.
A little drinking fountain in the street.
Just a beautiful tree.

My postcard today comes from the Ukraine:
It is sent to me by Oksana, who lives in Kiev because there is a very good art school there for her daughter. The card is about Chernihiv and gives fun facts about that city. She thought I would like to know that there is an underground cave church in Chernihiv.

The stamps are gorgeous:
The stamp on the right features the succulent Graptopetalum Bellum, or Chihuahua plant. The one on the left is a Hippophae rhamnoides, also known as common sea buckthorn, a desiduous shrub.

Now for some smiles:

Please join me at Annie's A Stitch In Time with something to smile about.

Later today we will be going to a wedding, a very low key affair at the local bar. So more photos next week. Also we are in the process of buying a new car, which we should be able to collect on Tuesday, so more to smile about. (It's the first time in my life that I/we will own a new car!)

Have a great week everyone.
Wishing you lots of smiles,

  1. What a lovely place to go to to celebrate your birthday....I'm sure you made lots of happy memories there. Your funnies had me chuckling....I love the faces little ones pull and often wonder what they're thinking.
    Have a happy week.
    Annie x

  2. Your holiday spot looks so lovely and tranquil and as for your smiling posters, well I'm laughing my head off here.
I got my VW Beetle (Frida-named after the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. That's were she was built) as new 14 years ago and I still have her. She's cyber green and I never lose her in a car park haha.
Enjoy your new car Lisca. Happy motoring
    Lynn xx

  3. Looks like you had a great little get away. What a great thing to do for your birthday! Love the funnies this week, especially the wet my plants one. :) Have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika

  4. Hi Lisca, what a lovely place to spend a few days. It looks a very tranquil and unspoilt area. How exciting to be getting a brand new car. Look forward to seeing photos next week. Loved the funnies especially the garden centre one :) Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the wedding today. Elizabeth xx

  5. What a pretty and peaceful village you found. I am glad the weather was kind while you were there. I like the little drinking fountain.
What fun to have a new car. that is so exciting. I hope you enjoy driving it. I shall miss next week's post but I saw your wedding photos on Facebook. Kate x

  6. Hi Lisca, another lovely week for you! You asked about what they are building in our park, it's a new visitors centre with café and information about the area. The stuff piled up are actually paving slabs. Thanks again for a lovely post and hope you have a lovely weekend, Angela xXx

  7. You always have such lovely 'travel' photos! Sounds like an interesting day going off to the wedding...& the plant funny made me laugh/groan! I got my 1st 'brand new ever' car 3 years ago. I LOVE it!!! Such a thrill!!! ENJOY :):) Oh - & I didn't even think to join in with the tea challenge... & YUP!! I most certainly could have!!!

  8. The little village looks like the perfect place to spend your birthday, it must have been lovely to explore the walking route and find wonderful places along the way like the water fountain - amazing! :-) . The weather looks glorious too and I'm so glad you had loads of smiles for your birthday. Sending you a postcard detailing the cave church was really thoughtful and those postage stamps are so beautiful :-) . Hope you had a lovely time at the wedding and wishing you a happy weekend! J :-)
