A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 10 September 2019 - T for chocolate sprinkles, blueberry pancakes and stout.

 Hello lovely ladies,
It's Tuesday and time to share a beverage to join Elizabeth and Bleubeard's T-Party. I will get to my beverage later.

First a lovely postcard I received from Halle last week. Beautiful images from Yellowstone National Park. Thank you Halle! You made my day! It arrived on Tuesday, but I had already posted my blog by then.

I love those photos from the Yellowstone National Park. Isn't it beautiful? Fascinating natural (geological) phenomena. This park is on my bucket list. I suppose Iceland is closer, but Yellowstone is definitely more beautiful. (Erika will have an opinion on this)

The stamps are great too. The forever stamps show (I think) Little Red Riding Hood. I have no idea what the significance of the star is in the 3c stamp. I have an incling that Elizabeth might know this. The 2c stamp is about Navajo jewelry. Beautiful. Halle you have spoilt me.

My second postcard of today is one that comes from the Netherlands. And from the city of Zwolle. It shows an old map of the moated city
Here is an aerial photo of the same town and you can see it hasn't changed shape.

The stamp is about 'Hagelslag', the chocolate sprinkles that the Dutch have the habit of putting on bead and butter.

Our eating habits have changed drastically since last week. We are doing a 21 day fast. It's called the Daniel Fast (After the Daniel in the Bible). It means eating a vegan diet, and also omitting yeast, sugar, alcohol and coffee & tea, and processed food. We started on September the first.

Here is one of our breakfasts. Pancakes made from oatmeal without yeast. Served with blueberries. We should also have used Maple Syrup, but I couldn't buy it anywhere. None of the three major supermarkets in town had it. We couldn't use honey as it is an animal product, so in the end I used a smidgen of Agave syrup. It was delicious.

I am making the most delicious meals. Hubby loves it! I didn't know eating vegan could be so nice. And we are feeling so much better on it.

Now for my beverage reference and ticket to the T-Party:

It is a beer (stout) called Steam Brew. I was attracted to the pretty can. And the beer itself was delicious.

Needless to say we had this beer before we started our fast!

Another beverage reference is this tea. It is pineapple tea (Té de piña).
I don't know what this one tastes like as we can't have it until after the 21st. But it looks (and smells) nice. I will let you know.

That's it from me today.
Happy T-Day everybody,
Hugs,
Lisca

  1. So glad you liked the postcard. I wish I'd thought to ask for your address before leaving on the trip so I could have mailed it from the Yellowstone.
That beer looks like something I'd like to try.
    Happy T day!

  2. Lucky you. You and I both got wonderful Yellowstone cards and the scenes are fabulous. Like you, I was drawn to the beautiful photos on the card. Those three cent stamps with the star have been around a LONG time. I think they represent the stars on the American flag. I have lots of the two cent Navajo stamps, but haven't seen the others before.

So glad you are having fun eating vegan. I found a great vegan (plant based) site I shared with Susi awhile back. It had LOTS of great recipes, too. I'll look for the site again as I didn't bookmark it.

Stout is the ONLY beer I'll drink, so that sounds delicious. Most people don't care for it, but I love any stout you put in front of me. I'm definitely not tempted by any other beer, wine, or liquor. Thanks for sharing your adorable postcards, your breakfast, your tea, and your stout with us for T this Tuesday.

  3. Wonderful new postcards! Good to know that your vegan diet is working out so well. Not so sure I'd get my hubby on board- at least not until he's retired:) Physical work requires substantial food- and he needs his chicken, turkey, and egg proteins! Happy T day!

  4. I like the Yellowstone postcard you got from Halle. I have actually been to Yellowstone many years ago and it is definitely a cool place. Different from Iceland because it isn't covered in glaciers and it is so much more concentrated in a smaller area than Iceland. But if you ever get to go, I would say go. (And to Iceland too) And that is really a cool beer can. I like it. It is a piece of art in itself. Wishing you a happy T day Lisca. Hugs-Erika

  5. Beautiful postcards, how nice of Halle to send you one from Yellowstone. And Zwolle is beautiful, I have been there several times. Glad you are enjoying your Daniel diet. The pancakes look good. Love the beer can, so pretty. Never seen one like that before - I probably never look at beer when I'm shopping! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  7. You get such a fascinating variety of postcards! The diet sounds interesting, and the food looks good. I'm not familiar with many of the fasts through the year, and I had never heard of this one until you mentioned it. It would certainly take some research to do it right. Happy T Tuesday!

  8. What a beautiful Yellowstone Park postcard! It brings back fabulous memories of our travels there 😁. Now let me think, tea or beer? Can you guess which one I chose ... well I can never resist trying a beer especially if it's a dark one like stout - perfect! That beer can is a keeper too, I love the steampunk design! Happy T Day! 12. That postcard from the Netherlands looks interesting. I love old maps and this would be so pretty blown up for a wall.
Your pancakes look yummy! I have never done a 21 day fast. Is this part of the Biblical feasts or did you just decide to do this?
Your beer can is a work of art. That is reason enough to drink it. And your tea sounds delicious! I love pineapple tea!! Can't wait to hear how it tastes.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  13. We visited Yellowstone as a family when I was a teenager. It was incredible ... except for the sulpher smell. It was cold and rainy when we were there, so I think that intensified the smell.

Those two Forever stamps from Halle puzzle me too. I hope she'll provide an answer.

The map of the city of Zwolle and then the photo of today exemplify the feat of engineering that created that city and much of the Netherlands.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  14. The "Little Red Riding Hood" is actually a child dressed in red and playing in the snow. It's from one of the stamps that the US Post Office issued as holiday stamps. Interesting about the fast. The blueberries and pancakes look so yummy. When Himself and I were trying the Keto diet, honey was off the table as it was so high in carbs. I tried the Agave syrup and found that very nice. The stout can label is awesome! Enjoy your day!
