A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 6 Aug 2019 - T for Queens, quote and hibiscus

Hello lovely ladies, here we are again on Tuesday to share a beverage and join the T-Party held at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's.

I'm into postcards, so that is what I will show you first. This one arrived from France a few days ago. It was sent by a Finnish postcrosser on holiday in France. She was touring the Loire Valley and enjoying all the beautiful castles. The card shows the queens of France.
From left to right, top:
Marie of Anjou (14 October 1404 – 29 November 1463) was Queen of France as the spouse of King Charles VII from 1422 to 1461. She served as regent and presided over the council of state several times during the absence of the king.
Charlotte of Savoy (c. 1441/3 – 1 December 1483) was queen of France as the second spouse of Louis XI. She served as regent during the king's absence in 1465, and was a member of the royal regency council during her son's minority in 1483.
Anne of Brittany  (25/26 January 1477 – 9 January 1514) was Duchess of Brittany from 1488 until her death,  She was the richest woman in Europe in her time; Queen of France twice, married to two kings in succession (Charles VIII and Louis XII).
Joan of France (French: Jeanne de France, 23 April 1464 – 4 February 1505), was briefly Queen of France as wife of King Louis XII, in between the death of her brother, King Charles VIII, and the annulment of her marriage.
Claude of France was a queen consort of France by marriage to Francis I. She was also ruling Duchess of Brittany from 1514. She was a daughter of the French king Louis XII and Anne of Brittany.
Catherine de’ Medici (born April 13, 1519, died January 5, 1589), queen consort of Henry II of France(reigned 1547–59) and subsequently regent of France (1560–74), who was one of the most influential personalities of the Catholic–Huguenot wars. Three of her sons were kings of France: Francis II, Charles IX, and Henry III.

From left to right, bottom:
Mary Stuart  spent most of her childhood in France while Scotland was ruled by regents, and in 1558, she married the Dauphin of FranceFrancis II. Mary was queen consort of France from his accession in 1559 until his death in December 1560.
Elisabeth of Austria was Queen of France from 1570 to 1574 as the wife of King Charles IX. A member of the House of Habsburg, she was the daughter of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor, and Maria of Spain.
Louise of Lorraine, was Queen consort of France and briefly Queen consort of Poland and Grand Duchess consort of Lithuania by marriage to Henry III of France. As a Dowager Queen, she also held the title of Duchess of Berry from 1589 until her death.
Marie de' Medici was Queen of France as the second wife of King Henry IV of France, of the House of Bourbon. She was a member of the wealthy and powerful House of Medici.
Anne of Austria, a Spanish princess of the House of Habsburg, was queen of France as the wife of Louis XIII, and regent of France during the minority of her son, Louis XIV, from 1643 to 1651. During her regency, Cardinal Mazarin served as France's chief minister.
Maria Theresa of Spain, was by birth Infanta of Spain and Portugal and Archduchess of Austria as member of the Spanish branch of the House of Habsburg and Queen of France by marriage to Louis XIV .
Fascinating stuff.

My second card comes from Germany and the quote (by Voltaire) reads " Da es sehr förderlich für die Gesundheit is, habe ich beschlossen, glücklich zu sein." That translates: As it's very good for my health, I have decided to be happy.

At the moment it is very hot in this part of Spain. Best thing is to stay indoors during the day. Our house is nice and cool. My Irish neighbour pops in every now and then and we have a cup of tea or coffee, according to what time it is. Here is a photo of us with empty tea glasses. We had just finished when hubby got his phone out and took a picture.
I have bought a few teas on the market last Tuesday. This one is Hibiscus. That is nice to drink cold with a dash of lemon in it. (In Italy we called it Karkadè).

Lastly I want to tell you that I am thinking of leaving Blogger and changing to Wordpress.com.

I can't use Blogger on my iPad or iphone and have to be at home at my desktop to comment. I have opened an account and am trying to figure out how to  build up a new blog. I will call myself Cavewoman as I am not doing that much scrapbooking anymore. Has anyone of you started a Wordpress blog from scratch?
Of course I will let you all know when I switch over and for a while I will keep both.

That's it ladies,
Happy T-Day all!
Hugs,
Lisca

  1. I love hibiscus tea, warm or cold it is wonderful, isn't it? And wow, there is sure a lot of queens on that postcard. I knew there were a lot as France was ruled for so long by Kings, and they needed to have a queen, but I just mean there is a lot on that postcard. It is a great card though and they would make fabulous art ephemera. Sta cool my friend and happy T day. Hugs-Erika

    1. Good morning-to answer your question-we have lived in several old farm houses and they all had overhead lighting in most every room-the electric so outdated in the lake house so we will need to tackle that project soon as well-in our extra rooms we will hang some of the new led shop type lights that just need to be plugged in-that will help out

  3. Hi Lisca, now your blog is here, good! Loved the postcards, especially the one with the Voltaire quote. You are lucky that your house is cool, mine is impossible! I had Wordpress before Blogger, but didn't like it and hated the adverts. I am not fond of ads popping up allover the place. Happy T Day and have a good week, hugs, Valerie

  5. The postcards always fascinate me. Such a variety :) I've seen several posts showing hibiscus tea, and I'll pick up some to try the next time I see it. It looks so pretty!

I started a Wordpress blog with the intention of switching, but I was unable to get my old posts successfully moved. The formatting didn't hold, and videos disappeared. I still have the Wordpress blog itself -I thought I might try again in the future- but stuck with Blogger for ease and familiarity.

  6. I was impressed with the postcards. I want to come back and see these again when I have more time. Must go vote today, though.

Love that photo of you and your friend with tea. Thanks for sharing it for T this Tuesday.

You might want to talk to Erika. She has similar problems, but I think she found a way to visit with her iPad or whatever. Others find it more difficult, too, but you may prefer it. Whatever is most convenient for you, we will visit you regardless.

    1. I don't see her e-mail addy anywhere, so you may need to just write her. Her posts are moderated, so that will help if you let her know you don't want the post published.

  7. How nice that your cave house stays cool in the hot weather, Lisca. I imagine it stays warm in cold weather too. Makes me wonder why we aren't all still living in caves. Interesting postcards and a nice picture of you.

We started a Word Press blog from scratch, but because our website is for profit, it's a whole lot more complicated than it should be for you. I think you'll find Word Press for Beginners (https://www.wpbeginner.com/) very helpful.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  8. I love that postcard of the queens! So much history.
Your tea looks colorful and yummy. I have never tried hibiscus tea. I have only every had it in a tea that contained elderberries and that flavor was so overwhelming that I was never able to taste just the hibiscus. I will have to try is again.
I started a Wordpress blog from scratch 9 years ago.I have worked on blogger with several design teams but I found the platform to be very difficult to work with. Wordpress is so much easier and they are constantly making improvements. When I bought my domain last year I chose to continue with Wordpress as my platform even though there were other choices. I highly recommend Wordpress. Once you find your way around, you will never want to go back to blogger. At least, that's my opinion.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  9. Great that I can read all now! Thank you!

I love hibiscus tea as well..it is the most healthy one out there, but it isn't the best for teeth. We should drink it with a straw.

Happy happy T-Day and week once again dear Lisca!
Great to meet you every week!
    Big hugs, Susi

  10. I especially like the queens postcard Lisca. It was hot here in the Northeast US the past week. (But I think that should be the end of our extremely hot weather. August is cooler than July here, and is the start of the descent into Fall.) Your tea sounds and looks delicious. It's nice that your friend stops by for visits where you can enjoy tea or coffee together. I made a Wordpress blog about a decade ago, but haven't done much with it since. I think a few of the Tea ladies are on Wordpress, so they should be able to provide assistance in getting set up. Happy T-Day!

  11. The postcards are wonderful. I enjoyed the history on the Queens of France. Nice to have a neighbor drop in for tea or coffee. I miss my elderly neighbor from across the street. Mostly, I was over there at least once a week as in her last 10 or so years she had difficulty walking. I know your frustration of Blogger on iPad. I can't edit blogs, but I can comment. Sorry, I can't help you out with Wordpress. Happy T Day

  12. Your postcards are wonderful! I recall seeing a similar card when we were in France!
How lovely to have a neighbour drop by!
I know how frustrating it is not to be able to comment - I can use the tablet if I make sure I have the web version of a post up but that isn't the case with my phone! Please keep us informed how this works for you!
I'm sorry to be late but I had some friends round to finish the book we started in a workshop the other week! Happy T Day! Chrisx

  14. Fun postcards you received.
I imported my blogger blog into wordpress when I got started. There is a plug-in for it. Makes it quite simple if you want to have it all in one place.
