Hello folks, I hope you have all had a good weekend.
And again we have arrived at Tuesday, When we can join Bleubeard and Elizabeth's T-party. Any blogpost with a drink related something in it will qualify.
Last Tuesday I received a bag with 40 Green walnuts. According to tradition, they should be harvested on San Juan (24 June) to make nut liquor, or Vino de nueces. I like mine with a bit of a kick so at the end I will add some brandy but the idea is to cut them up. Not easy as they are hard.
Here is a bottle of two liters no-nonsense local wine, (and that is my drink related item for the T-party).
I got some nice postcards this week. This one has a quote from Goethe: "There are two things we should give our children: roots and wings". A lovely quote and so true.
Only the German speakers will 'get' the joke of the grand piano and the carrots on the chair.
Both these cards came from Germany and neither had an interesting stamp on them really.
Being retired I have the luxury of being able to play computer games. For a long time we played Cradle of Empires. I am getting a bit tired of it and it gets so much more difficult to progress.
I have now discovered a new game that I like. It's called Elvenar.
I don't have to do puzzles or fight battles (if I don't want to), but just building a most beautiful fantasy city, and growing and expanding by trading with neighbours (in the game) and the people in the fellowship you have joined (not compulsory).
It is free but needs internet connection. There are in-game purchases but it works perfectly without that. I love it! I like the fact that there is a 'helper' guiding you through and helping and explaining, and giving you tasks. I also like the fact that there is always a choice between doing battle or negotiate/trade (As I don't like fighting).
I am enjoying it immensely.

Walnut wine , eh? My family in France make a version of it too -vin de noix. I have had it-goes down smooth -but oh my-be warned! Great to see the amazing variety of postcards you receive. Too bad i don't understand German. Glad you found a game you can enjoy, just not my thing.Happy T day!

I had this long comment, then my internet went offline and I had to call my provider to learn what the trouble was. This was frustrating.
First, I was impressed with your green walnut liqueur you are making. Seems like an awful lot of time consuming steps to produce that wine by Christmas.
The first postcard was wonderful. If I remember my teeny bit of German I remember from freshman year of high school, it is that we should give our children roots and wings. The second postcard is lovely, too, but the first one was super.
I had a friend who bought Civilization, a game for my computer. It was a birthday gift and I got hooked on it. It was pre-blog days, at least. You built civilizations and conquered some. The object sounds similar to your new game. I hope you have fun with it. Mine cost my friend money, but I got the box, the book, and a CD. Sadly, the CD is missing, or I might be tempted to add it to my new computer.

I've heard about walnuts to make ink, but not wine. You'll have to post the end product in December. I liked the Goethe quote and the pun. Very amusing. I wonder what the story is in the postcard. Your game Elvenar reminds me of a game my girlies used to play I can't remember the name, but you were a Viking and had to build your village, make trades, and invade your neighbors or enemies. I liked the sound of the walnut wine you are making adding brandy also a good idea, I hope you will let us know how it tastes later in the year. The no nonsense wine reminded me of the plastic bottled wine in France we used to buy, so reasonable and often just as good to drink as the more expensive stuff.

I used to play a medieval kingdoms game on Facebook that sounds a bit like these. I like the idea of not having to be involved in the battles, tho, so your Elvenar game might've suited me better.

I've never seen a green walnut. It's hard to believe that what I know as a walnut starts from a fruit like that. Fascinating, Lisca. The walnut liqueur sounds very tasty.
Would you believe I've never tried a computer game?! When I have free time, I craft or make art. Whatever you enjoy doing, it's really nice to have time for what you enjoy ;-)

Never heard of that wine... thank you so much for showing us how to make it...very interesting! I was surprised it wouldn't be ready until Christmas... !! Hubby and i like to play Seek and Find games on the computer... i'd say we are addicted.... lol We play alot when we get tired of TV ..... which is quite often lately.. Happy T day! Hugs! deb

I've never seen a green walnut...that's cool. I guess I never gave much thought to nuts as they developed. Ok...that sentence is all kinds of wrong but you get my drift. :)
I tend to play simple games on my iPad to pass time. I used to play PC games with my hubby before we had kids.

Well the walnut drink sounds great to me... I love making drinks like that. Great postcards this week. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Lady has gone to the vet and gotten good news on all of her test. Other than being old and the things that go with it she is healthy. Just needs to clear up the eye injury and eat regularly and she should be fine. It looks like she will be living with us ♥
