A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 4 July 2017 - T for Washington, orange shirts and Amish

Hello everyone!

Happy Independance Day to our friends across the ocean. Because of this I want to start by showing you a card from the USA which I received yesterday morning. It's from the state of Washington and shows the West Point Lighthouse. I think it is beautiful!

She also uses pretty stamps. Look at these beauties:

A train called Congressional (I think) and one commemmorating the 1980  Olympics. I love the Norman Rockwell stamp, as he is such a good illustrator. And the arctic fox is beautiful.

I'm going to join the T for Tuesday tea party and I have something with a drink in it to share with you.

We had our last day at the gym on Friday. We stop for the summer. The gym is not air conditioned (or heated) and it is just too hot. (Too Darn Hot - a song by Ella Fitzgerald. Remember that one?)
I go three times a week. We have a nice group of ladies there. This is the gym building and many ladies are just leaving.

This is the whole building:

We have just taken receipt of out new orange shirts.

That Friday, after the session, at 10 a.m. we all went to have breakfast together.
Here we are. The teacher is at the head of the table.
This is the typical Spanish breakfast: coffee and a 'tostada' (toast with olive oil and a sort of tomato sauce, which you spoon onto the bread from the bowl provided.)

What else can I tell you? What have I read? I have just finished one of the Amish romances in between one thing and another. They are usually very sweet and undemanding and free of charge on Kindle.
This one I just finished. It's called The Fiddler by Beverly Lewis:

It's just as well I don't get to see the cover when I buy a book on Kindle. I would never have bought it if I had seen this cover! But the story wasn't bad. I read it in a weekend. It's about a career violinist who rethinks her future after she had to shelter from the storm and had long talks with a young Amish man. It is the first of a series, but I don't see myself reading any more of them. I get the picture. Pleasant nevertheless.

Well, I'd better post this now.
Happy T-Day to all,
(And happy Independance Day)

  1. Thank you for remembering our national holiday, Lisca. That's a lovely postcard and the stamps are quite special.

It's too bad your gym has to close down for the hot summertime. I would miss my Pilates time and group if we did that.

I just read 3 Adriana Trigiani books about Italian immigrants to America, which I enjoyed. But "free on Kindle" is very enticing. I need to look into that. Thanks for the tip!

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

  2. beautiful postcard-I'd love to see that lighthouse in person! Don't blame you for ending the gym time when it's so hot and there's no AC. Nice way to end your time for now with friends and a nice breakfast. Happy T Day!

  3. Great postcard, I love lighthouses. I read the 'Butterfly gardener' book you recommended last week, got it free on Kindle, too, and couldn't stop reading it. Thanks. You all look so nice in your orange tee shirts, sitting down to breakfast, great idea! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  4. Its a lovely post card and had great stamps, do you save the stamps or leave them on the cards?
Your breakfast looked delicious, it must be a good way to end your gym session around the table with friends relaxing.
    Happy T day.
    Yvonne xx

  5. Lovely postcard, the lighthouse looks really special surrounded by that beautiful light 😀. Your gym looks so much fun and it must be too hot in the summer with no air con, we had one of our classes cancelled the other week because it was so hot which was such a good idea as it was too darn hot ... lol! (The song is from one of my favourite musicals - Kiss me Kate). Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊

  6. That is a lovely card! I do love stamps from the USA - there is such a variety! I love your new shirts and such a great idea to stop over the Summer - especially when it must be so hot! The breakfast does look tasty! I can see what you mean by the book cover….! Happy T day! Chrisx

  7. That's an interesting breakfast. I love how different customs are in different places. :) And I think its fun you all have those orange shirts and an exercise group together. It must make it easier to go. :) Hope its a fantastic T day Lisca. Hugs-Erika

  8. Shame that your gym closes in summer but nice that you join each other for a meal. I love the sound of the toast with tomato mix--all very healthy

    Happy T Day

    Love Chrissie xx

  9. Thank you for the Fourth of July wishes Lisca! Thats so great that you go to the gym! Maybe you can continue some things at home for the summer... ?? My grandmother got me interested in reading when i was a teenager by giving me romances to read..lol her favorite books...she would curl up with one every afternoon and then nap for an hour... Once married.. i left the romances behind... had my own romance...lol Now i read a variety of books and genres... I just finished one called The Descent by Jeff Long and started another called Blind Descent by Nevada Barr... both good reads.. Happy T day!! Hugs! deb

  10. what a nice Habit to take breakfast together... and i definitely would love to be at that lighthouse Point!! wonderful postcard with great stamps.
    happy belated t-day!

  11. I love lighthouses! and those stamps are very pretty. Breakfast looks quite nice, though tomato sauce seems unusual compared to what we might have in my neighborhood. toasted bread certainly, but we go for jam, cream cheese, or butter! Don't blame you for taking a summer break during the heat of the season...quite sensible I think! happy T day -- belated! ;)
