A Postcard A Day - Friday 10 Feb 2017 - Friday Smiles

Hi Peeps, It's Friday again when we post all things positive and look for the silver lining around the clouds in our week.

My week has been 'grotty', as in: I have a stinking cold and am not feeling up to anything!

The positive things of my week have been (apart from lying in bed) sitting by the fire with my hubby and the cat:
Our cat likes to be stroked on his tummy. (But only by my husband).

Another nice thing this week was my Crazy Carrot Cake. That turned out so delish! (What a shame I can't taste anything)

One of the delights of the week is seeing some mail in our mailbox. I got six cards this week. I'll share this one from Portugal.
It is a black and white photo of couples dancing in a village, photographed by Georges Dussaud (sounds French) in 1989. As I am interested in photography, of course I had to look him up. Here is a website I found that shows several other photos by him taken in the Alto Douro wine district.
The lady that sent it to me commented on the patch on the white trousers of the man on the right. She says it is the logo of her favorite football team!
This is the stamp:
Do they ski in Portugal? Again, I had to look that up. Apparantly in the north of Portugal, in the Serra Estrela, there is a ski resort.

Now for some funnies. This first one is not particularly funny but a curious traffic sign I spotted in Rotterdam when I was there:
I was walking with my friend and her dog (on the left) when I spotted it.

I am not a morning person, so this image spoke to me.

Baby logic....

I will be linking up with Annie at A Stitch in Time and Virginia at Rocking Your World Friday (If I can get myself out of bed...). I can't promise you many comments if I am feeling as grotty as I am feeling now.

Have a good week with lots of smiles,
Hugs (well no, I have a cold, so no hugs),
Lisca

  1. I'm really chuckling at your funnies today Lisca....isn't that why Nannies squeeze their grandchildren?....to get the baby oil?
Hope you shake off your cold very soon.
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  2. Ah hun I hear you on the feeling grotty side of things, said 16 year old brought home a dreadful cold on Wednesday and decided to share it, I've done nothing but sneeze since I got up, streaming cold and feeling pretty atrocious and I've got a business meeting to attend and it's snowing outside - oh to stay in bed and read magazines and drink tea - sigh!

I hope you are feeling better soon, loving the postcard and the funnies in particular the elephant - that is definitely me!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. Hi Lisca, I have actually been to the Gym today so must be feeling a bit better though I had to stop and blow my nose a couple of times Lol! Maybe that's why the gym suddenly went quiet! At least they didn't ask me to leave Lol! Brilliant funnies today. Hope you are feeling better soon. Take care, Angela xXx

  4. What a happy post and everything definitely had me smiling - especially the elephant, so funny :-). Sorry to hear you are unwell and I hope you are better soon! At least you have the marvelous memories of your recent travels to cheer you up (great signs by the way), as well as your smiling hubby and cute cat - great photo too! Your postcard is wonderful, it must be lovely to dance along to the music and I liked hearing about the hidden meaning of the patch on his trousers too :-). Happy Friday and wishing you a great weekend! Get well soon! J :-)

  5. Hi Lisca, sorry to hear that you are not at all well, hope you make a quick recovery. It's good you have your husband and cat to keep you company. I've not seen that road sign before - I'm assuming that it is giving drivers permission to park part way on the pavement, something we would never be allowed to do here in Scotland. The funnies are great - especially the baby logic one. I'm not a morning person either. Hugs, it's alright because they are cyber hugs. Elizabeth xx

  6. Hi Lisca. Poor you. having felt rough for a couple of weeks myself, though not with a cold, you have my every sympathy. I hope you shake it off soon, and feel much better again.
An interesting peep into life in Portugal this week. I didn't know they had skiing there either.
I smiled at your elephant. Such funy creatures anyway, and this is so cute. And the logic of the very young. I love his expression. Get better soon. Kate x
