A Postcard A Day - Friday 24 June 2016 Friday Smiles

Good Morning Friday Gang!

How are you all? Keep smiling, as your glass is always half full (if not completely full!)

My week has not been very exciting. After driving mum and my cousin to the airport in Malaga we went shopping at Ikea (yes, that was exciting!) to counteract my acute sadness of saying goodbye to my mum. She is 92 and every goodbye could be the last one...
We spent too much money, as you do...
I got this little sink & cabinet for the guest bathroom.

The rest of the week was spent tidying up and washing bedding and towels and all the things you do when guests have left.

Here is Spain the schools have broken up and so have all the clubs and associations. So this morning is my last gym for the summer. We will all receive a T-shirt with the name of our group on it and after gym we will go and have breakfast (coffee and a baghette) in a local bar. I have collected money for a present for the teacher and have made a card for us all to sign (and it will be something to put the money in).
Then next week we will all go out for dinner (usually we are about 15 or 16 ladies) Something to look forward to and to smile about.

The other thing I smiled about is my new towel rack! My mum was commenting that she could hardly see my new cooker as I had hung tea towels and oven cloth etc on the rail of my cooker. So when we were at Ikea the other day, we bought one of those racks that pull out. Graham fixed it to the side of a unit this morning and now I have my towel rack and I'm over the moon! (He says I'm easy to please).

Now for my daily postcard:
I happen to like turtles and I put that in my profile of Postcrossing, so I get lots of cards with turtles. Fab! This turtle has company. It was sent by Petra in Germany. She used some lovely stamps:
Flowers and baby squirrels. Cute factor 10.

Now to finish a smile factor:
For the non-Brits, H&S stands for Health and Safety. These health and safety regulations have become more and more ridiculous. I'm sure you have them in other countries in the world. They are almost impossible to comply with and there is so much paperwork involved too. This man has clearly had enough!

That's it from me this morning. I'm going to find a news channel on my computer (we don't have tv) to see what the result is of the Brexit Referendum. It will affect us even though we don't live in the UK.

Wishing you a good week with lots of smiles,
and blessings.

Lisca

That's a lovely new sink for the guest bath. I would LOVE to have an IKEA near me, but there isn't one within 1000 miles of where I live.

Had to laugh at the sign, but we have nothing like that in the states, at least not that I know about. The closest thing is OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Association), but that's more for oversight and the only time I was exposed to it was when I worked in industry.

Have a lovely Friday and wonderful weekend, too.

I love the new wash basin and cupboard....can't beat IKEA can you? Our new home is full of it :-) I chuckled at the H and S sign....there is no allowance for us to have any common sense in this world any more is there?
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

Hi Lisca, love the H&S sign and I fully understand how he feels. You will know by now that we are out. I have no idea whether this will be good or bad, I think it has been a difficult choice for everyone. There are people I know that live and work in EU countries and they are very worried about what will happen next. However lets not allow that to dampen our Friday. Have a lovely day, Angela x

Your kitchen looks great. The towel rack is a good idea. And nice cabinet. I love going to IKEA. Its a couple hour trip to the one closest to me, and its a good things, otherwise I would spend way too much money there. :) Erika

Sad saying good bye to your Mum- but you did alright from taking them to the airport!!!! Summer has arrived by the sound of it.... Enjoy the slower pace that school holidays brings! And I see Brit is exiting....that will certainly make a difference to the thousands living in the EU!!!!

No IKEA here either, Lisca , one about 400 miles north but I have never been to it. Apparently you can get a box like frame on it you can turn into a Misti. Saw it on Alices bog. Will send link if you want it.
Concerne re Brexit, will affect many. Guess it shocked everyone it went through, even those who voted for it.
I love your new purchases help like that in every day living is wonderful. And unhappily, common sense is not hat common these days.

I can definitely appreciate the need for that towel rack it has to be said, we had one in our old house but now we hang them on the oven - which makes it unsightly! I will have to check them out next time I head to Ikea. The sink and unit are lovely and great for a guest bathroom. I'm sure your Mum had an amazing time, hopefully you haven't been too said since she left!

I love the card you made I'm sure your teacher will be very happy with it too. I hope you had a great weekend and have a lovely week ahead!
