Hello lovely ladies,
It's Friday again and time for the smiles of our week.
I always smile when I find postcards in my mailbox. We have had problems with our delivery as our postman has retired. In my neighbourhood there are no street names. My address is Barrio San Marcos, which means Saint Mark's neighbourhood. We get mail carriers that work for one or two months, and they are not here long enough to learn all the people and where they live. I think the answer is a PO box.
But I did receive this cute card from China. It was sent by someone from Guangzhou, a city with 14 million (!) inhabitants. The stamps are great. I did not recognise the fruit on the left and I messaged the sender. I turns out to be a mango.
The second card is rather special as it is a home made card. It comes from the Netherlands and was written in Dutch by Carla. Carla does art journaling as well as card making.
Again the stamps are really lovely. The chap on the left is a soccer player called Arjen Robben, who retired this year. Wikipedia writes: Arjen Robben is a Dutch former footballer who played as a winger. He is known for his dribbling skills, speed, crossing ability and his accurate left foot long-range shots from the right wing, Robben was regarded as one of the best players in the world in his prime.
Do you know what is guaranteed to put a smile on my face? The tinkling of the bells of the sheep and goats as they pass close to our house. Our first tiny olive harvest (two trees) made me smile too. We have about 30 trees and they will be professionally pruned after the holidays. So hopefully we shall have a proper harvest next year.
The seeds that my hubby sowed a few weeks ago have already germinated.
This was a sunset last week.
I don't have any Christmas decorations in the house as we are going away, but I have these fragrant candles. They smell of red fruit and spices.
I managed to make some Christmas cards (see previous blog) and I went to the post office,Which is on the municipal square, next to the Ayuntamiento (town hall) which is all lit up.
Here I am posting the cards.
I am now able to get Amazon Prime video on my iPad and I have started to watch Downton Abbey. I have always wanted to see that. I am on season 1, episode 4. (And I love it!)
On Wednesday they announced the water would be cut off for maintenance work. Luckily it didn't last long (I had 5 buckets of water ready in the bathroom to flush the toilet with should it last all day)
Yesterday I met my neighbour just as she came out of her chicken coop. She gave me two eggs she had just 'picked'. So we had lovely soft boiled eggs for breakfast. That is it from me this week. I hope your week has had lots to smile about too. Please join me at Annie's A Stitch In Time to share them. I also usually link up with Virginia at Rocking your Week Friday
As always I have some funnies from the internet at the end of this blog.
Have a lovely weekend,
