A Postcard A day - Friday 4 May 2018 - Friday Smiles

Hello lovely people.
Friday already? Woah! This week flies by so fast! I'm here to join Annie at A Stitch In Time and Virginia at  Rocking Your World Friday with the things that made me smile this week.

Let's start with my postcards. I haven't received any this week. That is because I am behind in sending them. (If I don't send, I don't receive). So I finally sat down this week and wrote 12 postcards to different places in the world.  I will show you a few cards that might make you smile.

Here is one that is going to Japan:
It's going to Annette who is German, but has married a Japanese man. She wanted something funny.

The second one is this:
It goes to Russia, to Anna who likes vintage things. This card is advertising Dolly Blue, a washing additive. These additives in the Little bags were still around when I was a child. I seem to remember them.

I had to go to the post office to get some more stamps and the post mistress gave me these:

Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife are both cities on the Canary Islands, off the coast of Africa (but Spanish territory). Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria, and Santa Cruz is a port on the island of Tenerife.

I've had a really good week. Saturday we had our monthly Bible study with English speakers in the área. It was at the cave house of one of the group and the food was amazing, and I forgot to take pictures! Aaargh!

Remember my fridge magnets?

I've re-visited one of the places:

On Sunday I got up early for a bus trip to Córdoba with the ladies' association of our village. We were 86 ladies in two coaches. A laugh a minute!

We went to see the flower displays in the patios. Patios are private little courtyards inside the houses. Once a year they open to the public and people can see them. Here is one:

Note the traditional woven blinds. Downstairs in our new groundfloor flat I will have a patio too, so all these beautiful pots and plants inspire me no end.

Of course I want a water feature too!

We also saw the flower parade. The floats were beautiful.

The ladies, all dressed in Andalucian dresses, were throwing flowers into the crowds.

This weekend was also the fiesta of the crosses. Not only in our village but all over Andalucia people decorate the crosses. Here in Cordoba we saw this one:

We had a really good day out. Just a shame that the weather was so cold. And it rained a bit at a certain point. Luckily we were outside the Mezquita and could dive into the large pórtico. Here is a photo of

the Mezquita:

I did not take this one myself as I didn't go in. (I had seen it before.) It cost 9 Eur to go in, or for free on a pensioners card. I don't have a pensioners card so it spurned me on to go get one.

Wednesday we went and had our photos taken, and on Monday I have an appointment with the social worker in the village to hand in all the paper work I have collected during the week for the application of said pensioners card. And then it is a waiting game. Hopefully it doesn't take too long.It will give us discounts on lots of things including public transport and museums and attractions.

That is it from me this week, I wish you all a fantastic weekend and a good week ahead with lots of smiles.

Hugs,

Lisca

  1. Firstly, many thanks for your lovely comment....the family member was our son in law that had the surgery....it’s been a very worrying time but thankfully the surgery seems to have gone well and he was allowed home yesterday afternoon....it’s early days yet but I’m certain he will sleep better in his own bed than on the very busy, noisy ward he was on....and the children were soooooo pleased to see him.
I well remember mum using a blue bag in the washing machine....such happy memories of the ‘good old days’. Your funnies made us chuckle so thanks for sharing them with us.
    Love and hugs,
    Annie x

  3. Ah bless - the flowers are amazing as were the floats. I hadn't realised that you didn't receive cards if you don't send but then I haven't looked into post crossing. My Mum benefits from a card to get free public transport in the area, so its definitely worth sorting if you are entitled to it - although you really don't look old enough! Loved the funnies at the end as always. Have a great week

    Hugs

  4. Ah. Lucky you. I loved my visit to Cordoba in May in couple of years ago. It was one of the loveliest places we have been to in Spain.
I like the way each postcard you send is linked to the interests of the receiver.
As usual your funnies made me smile. Smiling is good!

  5. Gosh Lisca there is so much going on and what a great post. The funnies are brilliant and the Patios look amazing. You asked about the bird's nest, we know where the fluff off the ball went as the Blur Tits took it in their box on the wall. Stan did not mind the plaster until it had to come off Lol! Have a great weekend, Angela xXx
