WOYWW- 282 (with a toad in tow)

WOYWW - 282

Hi peeps, Thanks for popping by to look at my desk. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, visit Julia at http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com.es/ .)

This is my desk. If you have read my blog from yesterday (“Me? Messy?”) you would expect some paint, ink and gesso, but I have decided it’s time to start doing some Christmassy things.

I had bought some embossing folders last month and I was trying them out and then sanding them. I quite like the result. The box with ‘Martin’ on it, is a box of guitar strings. My husband had changed the strings on his guitar and was about to throw them away when I spotted him. He should know better by now that a crafter does not throw anything away! There are some acrylic stamps lying there with Christmas sentiments on them and I have been playing with my new snow crystal Spellbinder dies.

I keep all my Christmas craft stuff in separate boxes that ‘live’ in the garage. DH was kind enough to get all the boxes down for me. Oh I love that man! “Anything to keep my lil’ girl happy” he says.

Now, what did I find at my front door last night? A little toad! (at least that’s what I think it is).
By the way, the 'vegetation' you can see on the tile, are fossils. They are real as here you can buy natural stone tiles with fossils in them.

Isn’t he cute? Luckily the cats weren’t in the least interested, or they would have had him for supper....

Sorry I'm late today. We've traveled all the way to Malaga airport to pick up DD and grandson1. We'll be busy spending precious time with them so I'm sorry but I probably won't have time to comment much this week. I'll try and do some in the course of the week though.

Thanks for visiting. I'll blog about an update of the building project, which is going splendidly later on this week.

Bye for now,
many blessings,
Lisca

  1. Great to see your desk this week & your toad visitor is so cute ! You cats are obviously wise to the fact that went under threat toads can exude a foul tasting liquid - they obviously knew the risks ! Have a lovely week with your family visiting Ali #21

  2. Thanks for popping by! We have "California" toads here and they are very poisonous to pets but they look a bit different than yours. Your desk looks very crafty and I'm wondering what you're going to do with old guitar strings.... Happy WOYWW!

  3. Hi, Lisca, the card stock you've embossed and sanded looks really cool. Cute little toad visitor. The witch's hat on my blog is purely for decoration, although I would probably wear it if it was large enough. We primarily celebrate by taking our daughter trick-or-treating -- the one evening a year when kids dress up in costumes and ring everyone's doorbells and they give you candy -- a children's delight. And there are so many fun crafting items in the stores (like the hat) that I can't resist them, as well. Thanks for visiting my blog and happy WOYWW! ~ Laura #64

  4. Did you open the door or direct your visitor to the local damp woods?
I keep all my Christmas stuff in a box but above my sewing cabinet so I don't need DH thankfully. As you can see it has arrived at my desk!
    Have a good week

  5. What a blessing it is to have such lovely understanding and considerate hubbies, isn't it!! Mine has been a total star today, propping me up under an onslought of Mum being demanding and selfish, when I have been so poorly all week! As a result I've felt terrible all day from the stress it generates, but he is there to act as a buffer and went in to try and knock some sense into her (verbally!!) and be a provider of Hugs On Demand! I think yours is more like mine in other ways too - and I am getting him trained - don't throw anything out before filtering it through the ARTHaven dept. - he gave me 2 boxes he'd got as packaging round stuff from Ebay this week - unsolicited! I usually have to rootle around in the bins to find such things lol!

The little toad is beautiful. Funnily enough I came across a needle-felted toad on Pinterest yesterday, who had exactly that amazing textured skin, and he looked so realistic. The fossil tiles are amazing, too. I must say, one does see the most interesting and unusual things on WOYWW! It's like charity shop shopping - you never know what you're going to find!

Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment, and I'm glad you like my various projects, despite Mr. Mojo bunking off on holiday!

    Happy WOYWW,

  6. Good man, that husband of yours! And that is in fact the prettiest toad I've ever seen. Actually, the only toad I've ever called "pretty."

You blessed woman, enjoy the time with your grandchild!

  10. Very cool visitor, Mr. Toad! Course I'd love with a blog name of Froggy, huh. :) Your profile says you live in a cave house? So cool! Must explore your blog further...added to my must do list when I can sit at the computer for a bit. After unpacking I'm afraid. Enjoy your company! Thanks for the earlier visit! Hugs and Happy WOYWW! 12. What a super visitor! Lovely toad, glad the cats weren't interested, they probably would have been poorly eating a toad, they tend to have a nasty ick on their skin to stop predators eating them. Have a lovely time with your family, Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #14 xx

  13. Fascinating toad, Lisca, hasn't God camouflaged him so well?.. we have toad here too and one memory not so nice from childhood when we were camping was one jumped on my mothers face while sleeping and she had a horrid sore on it for while from the goop it exudes from its skin so better not to touch wise cats, I love the desky doings! thanks so much for popping over, happy WOYWW Shaz in oz.x #31

  16. I'm grateful all my "stash" fits in one room or I'd be lost!!! Although if I don't do some purging soon (or use it!) I think there might be an explosion soon!

    Happy crafting!

  17. What a sweet little crittur! I keep all my surplus stash in the loft (just been up there for a rummage around) and have decided I need new storage boxes, to sort things better. Yours sound much better, all convenient, in the garage. Have a great week, Chris # 24

  18. Awesome lilttle toad! I think they are so sweet but don't get them too close they spit and will pee on you! Love the tile. My husband and I got to Mallorca and stay with friends in Bunyola every year or so and they live in a house that has fossiled tiles...like you say nothing posh or fancy just a fact of life there. Have a fun week with the DD and SIL! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I don't know how that happened because Okienurse P+T is a lot different then Vickie's Fibro blog!! I love hearing from you! Vickie #65 now #71

  19. oooooh tiles with fossils in! How cool is that?! Love your new little friend - we sometimes find toads in our garden (they're supposed to be good at keeping the slugs down) and one time we found one hopping about in the sitting room! I had to catch the poor confused little thing and liberate him :o) Have a great weekend Lisca. Annie C #50

  20. Oh you don't have to worry about comments....you suck up all the time you can with your lovelies. I LOVE the fossil tiles, what a fab selling point that is to me! I'm so glad the cats didn't have any interest in your visitor, and hey, didn't you get close....I don't dislike them but the unpredictable 'boing' they have without warning really freaks me out!!
