Hello lovely peeps, How are you'all this Tuesday? It's time for Elizabeth and Bluebeard's T-Party called T for Tuesday. Come and join us, all you need is a beverage. My beverage is coming further down, but first let me show you my postcards.
The first one goes to a girl in Russia who has never seen the ocean. She asked for cards which show the sea or ocean. So I found this surfer dude with his Volkswagen on the beach. She asked for cards in an envelope so she could lift the stamps. As I was using an envelope, I thought I'd add a few things until I reached the max weight. I added empty sugar bags, teabag wrappers and bus tickets. I also found this cat sentiment bookmark. She loves cats so I'm sure that will be a hit. (Bluebeard might recognise some of them)
This weekend we went to meet with one of our sons and his family as they were journeying back from their holiday destination in southern Portugal to the ferry in northern Spain. We arranged to meet halfway in a place called Plasencia. It meant a five and a half hour car journey for each of us.
We'd booked into the same hotel and later we phoned the hotel and asked them if we could come a day earlier as well. So we could do some sight seeing before the gang arrived.
Plasencia is a medieval walled town built on a hill. Of course the car park is at the bottom of the hill. Fortunately they have made escalators all the way to the old town.
When you get to the top of the last escalator, you are met with the name Plasencia on a little square.
We walked past the bronze man on his horse, through the city gates and walked along the inside walls:
This is the outside. It is truly magnificent.
At a certain point we could go in one of the towers and walk along the top of the wall. The view from up there is stunning.
So occasionally we stopped for a drink and a cool down with airconditioning.
This was an old bar in one of the side streets. Our drink is a Radler (ice cold lager with real lemon,). I was so hot and bothered that I am not going to show you my photo. In stead here is hubby pronouncing a toast to the T-ladies!One last thing: Our cat brought us a present this morning:
Here he is with a ballpoint to get an idea of size. Yes, it's a dead upsidedown scorpion. The funny thing is that our cat is hopeless with mice. He's not interested. But he seems to like catching/killing scorpions. (it's not the first time). These scorpions are not deadly (to humans) but the bite hurts a lot apparently. (and it actually might kill our cat...)
Yuck!
That's it from me today.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

I definitely wouldn't be out walking in that heat. I'd get heat stroke for sure. I don't see how you made it. And I can't believe how covered up you were, too. I can understand why you wouldn't want to show yourself because I can just feel the heat coming off your post.
That old city and walls were fascinating. That view from the top of the tower was phenomenal.
I've never seen a scorpion before, so I hope your darling kitty is safe and not in harm's way when catching them.
I enjoyed seeing the two postcards this week and it was sweet of you to add a few extras for the Russian girl.
Thanks for sharing your tour around Plasencia, your photos of the tower and walls, and your lager and lemon with us for T this Tuesday. I hope by now you are much cooler.
That vintage poster post card I lovely but it might have been more fun for you if it was written in Russian. The surfers in the van is such a great photo!
Your visit to the old city is gorgeous with all those towers and stone. I can't imagine all that walking in that temperature. THAT IS HOT! So glad that you were able to make stops and frequent cool offs in the air conditioning.
Yuck! I hate scorpions. That is one long stinger. Lucky for you, your cat likes to hunt and kill these as long as he doesn't get stung.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
You are brave to be out walking around and sightseeing at those temperatures. It is a gorgeous place though. Those city walls-wow. It is amazing. I m glad your shared these photos with us. Stay cool and happy T day. Hugs-Erika
Hmm, your cat has a strange choice of friends! I'm glad we don't have scorpions here! Plasencia looks wonderful, a beautiful place to visit, even if it was so hot. Great postcards, too. I worked at Butlins in Skegness one holiday when I was a student! And please, stop sending all the hot air from Spain over to us here, it's enough! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
wow what an amazing city you shared with us-you travel to the neatest places. that is very hot for touring around-but the sights look amazin. say Hi to your Hubs.
your postcards are great-the one you mailed off to will love everything-and the other you received looks vintage.
wow never saw a scorpion that large before-we have small ones here in our woods.
enjoyed everything Happy T wishes Kathy
The views from your trip to the old city look wonderful and I really loved the idea of escalators to get to the top of the hill.
Your cat seems a generous soul, bringing you gifts like that. I would be running [if I could] quite fast to get away from one of those creatures.
Happy T day wishes Lisca.
Yvonne xx
The city looks like an amazing place to explore. It's been hot here, but not that hot (I don't mind. You don't have to shovel heat or humidity) I've never seen a scorpion and don't think I want to.Your kitty is brave. Cheers to you and your hubby. Stay cool. Happy T Day
Love the photos of the walled city!! I kind of envy how you can visit places like this within a reasonable distance, as I love historical places and buildings, but I certainly don't envy you those temps! wow. Waving hi! to your hubby...he's a good sport to greet us. ;) Enjoyed the postcards, and shocked at your cat's hunting skills! yikes. glad you explained they aren't fatal to humans. funny how the cat goes after the deadly prey and not mice! hope you had a wonderful visit with family...thanks for the tour. happy T day!
Look at the stinger on that scorpion Lisca!!! Wow! I have lived in places that have scorpions but have not actually seen many... I'd say your cat is one talented kitty!!
What a gorgeous walled city! Lvoe your photo of you standing by the rock.. I can't help but wonder how many other people have put there hand on that rock through the ages.. Happy T day!! Hugs! deb
What fabulous postcards! I love the one you sent with the VW 😁. I hope you had a wonderful time with your family and Plasencia looks like a lovely place to explore with its walls and turrets - amazing! Your drinks look very refreshing too - Happy T Day! J 😊 x
YUCK!! scorpion....gives me the shivers right now. That town and castle wall are beautiful. Thanks for the reminder about postcards. I had gotten an email from Postcrossing the other day telling me to log in or I'd be marked inactive. I still haven't recieved my last card. It's been traveling for almost 2 months. I fear it may be lost.
Happy T day!
What a sweet package you put together for the girl in Russia, Lisca. I can't believe you walked all around Plasencia in that heat! But you got some great pictures. We visited the walled city of Cartegena, Colombia while on a cruise. They truly are impressive. That's a super picture of you by the wall. You don't look wilted at all - lol.
Good kitty! I've been bitten by a scorpion. It's very painful. The thing is you never know how much and how poisonous the venom is because scorpions control venom production depending on the situation they perceive.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
I've never seen an outdoor escalator. That town looks fascinating! I'd love to walk along the top of that wall. I'm always impressed by features like that. So old! I don't mind the heat, but it doesn't get that hot around here. It looks like your hubby was happy to find such a refreshing place to stop in :) Happy T Tuesday
I really don't think I would cope with temperatures that high, never mind exploring the old town. It would have taken a lot of stops in cool bars ! Your cat must have known how to attack that scorpion, a great trophy to bring you!!! Happy T Day! Chrisx
