A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 29 August - T without postcard

Well hello! Here we are again!
We're still travelling and we are now in Britain. Last Tuesday we caught the ferry from St Malo in France to Portsmouth in the south of England:
Here we are queueing up to go on the ferry.
And now we are in the north of the country, in East Cheshire.
My sister got married on Saturday and we were there to celebrate with her.

The evening before the wedding everybody met at the local pub, a few houses away from where my sister lives:

I really like the sign outside:
My husband's drink was called a Dizzy Blonde (it was a pale lager)

On the Saturday morning we did some last minute things. Sis wanted some balloons to hang on the gate posts of the drive. Here she is (on the left) inside the flower shop:
My sister lives right in the centre of a most delightful little village. A family friend was waiting outside the shop, so I shoved the balloons in his hand so I could take a picture of the outside of the shop.
Then it was time for the bride to get ready. I was there with my camera of course to capture those girlie moments. I'll just show you this one:
My dear mum was very excited. At her age she never thought she would see her daughter married. (My sister and her new husband are both in their early sixties) but mum had the pleasure to walk her down the isle. She can't walk very well and uses a zimmer frame or a wheel chair. But she rose to the occasion and they both walked into the ceremony room arm in arm.
The ceremony was in the town hall and after everybody had thrown rose petals, the man from the town hall handed the bride groom a broom so he could sweep the pavement! That was so funny!
Here are my mum and my sister at the front door:
I hope you enjoyed the photos from England. We will be on the road again later today so I'm afraid I can't do any comments. Sorry.

But I will link up with Elizabeth and Bleubeard at Altered Book Lover for T for Tuesday. Please join us with a blogpost that has something drink related in it.

Wishing you all a happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

  5. Oh what fun to see the beautiful English countryside and your stunningly gorgeous sister. So glad to read she finally took the plunge. How wonderful for her and her new husband.

Loved seeing the ale your hubby got, but even more enjoyable was what looked like champaign the bride to be was drinking while getting dressed.

I'm not sure who looked happier, your sister or your mother. They were both beaming with joy!

Thanks for sharing your trip to England and your sister's wedding with us for T this Tuesday. I'll toast to that!

  11. Very clever sign. It made me smile too. What happy photos from the wedding. Your sister made a beautiful bride. Our son and his wife married in their mid-40s - first time for both. We never thought we'd see the day ... like your mum. Thanks for sharing such precious photos, Lisca. Enjoy the rest of your trip ;-)

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
