Good morning! It's Wednesday again. The day when we get to have a peep at other people's desks to see what they are up to. Julia at Stamping Ground is our chief desker. Do check out her website. The link is there.
If the idea is to bare all (desk wise i mean), then I tremble, because again, the is nothing significant on my desk. Here, look for yourself:
There is some happy mail in the foreground from a lass called Paulina in Poland. Pauline wanted a particular postcard that I have in my collection. I offered to send it to her and as a thank you, she sent me a 3D sticker sheet. Note the gorgeous stamps, so very Valentine's Day.
On the right is a box of gluten free biscuits that I have been occasionally snacking from. I'm on a diet to lose weight, so biscuits are out! They taste of saw dust, but I still like them....
Then there is a rough copy of a letter I have to send to the town hall, some English bobbins with their beads. Nothing to write home about.
The weather has been bad here the past few days. We have had gales all of last week, then a smuttering of snow, and today it was good ol' sunny again. This is the view from my window as i speak:
Guess what we bought.... a red letterbox!
My DH wanted a red one, and lo and behold we found a red one. I like it too. It looks very British somehow.
My postcard for today is this:
It comes from Christine in the USA. She lives in Burlington, VT (Vermont I think). The caption reads: 'The 2011 exhibit In Fashion: High Style 1690-2011 features gowns, menswear, and accessories from Shelburne Museum's costume collection.' The embroidery on this dress is stunning. What era do you reckon this dress is from then?
The stamps are gorgeous too. Thank you Christine.
I do like Katharine Hepburn, don't you?
I must leave it here. Happy WOYWW!
Have a great week all of you.
Blessings,
Lisca

Love your postcard and letterbox. It's hard to diet isn't it and not be tempted by cakes and all things nice!

Zowie, a bright red letterbox. Love it! Love that green embroidered dress. Looks Art Deco? I'd want some of the embroidery to flow to the bottom I think?
I am on that track too..gotta lose some pounds. Good luck!!

Was never a fan of Hepburn but must admit she loos a beauty on the stamp.
Love the bright red mailbox, I would love one like that here at home but am afraid it would get stolen or something.
Cannot believe your weather I thought it was always sunny and warm where you are, just shows how much I know about geography. Hope the sun stays for you now.
Hugs, Neet 13 again! oh heck! xxx
A fabulous desk, I love the postcards and the beautiful stamps too!
Good morning Lisca, the postbox dress and blue skies lifted my spirits today as its lashing down (yet again) with rain here. When will it ever stop.
Have a good week

Thanks for sharing your sunshine with us today Lisca....it's so gloomy here so far and I love the sunshine. I saw your postbox on Facebook and really love it.....what a great find.
Here's hoping you have a good week.
Hugs,

A lovely blog post, your postbox is fab and it looks really smart and British in that lovely bright red. The dress is beautiful, and I love the stamps - Katherine Hepburn was a beauty wasn't she. I hope you have a good week with no more gales and snow!

Katherine Hepburn was one feisty gal, that's for sure...a role model for us all! Look at view, it goes on for ever....what a lovely place you live in :-)

Ps hard to gauge the era of the dress, could be 50's, but could be older too!
What a view you have! Raining here yet again.I think most of us are on a diet but when the weather is so depressing it's easy to hit the biscuits. I know you will make good use of those lovely stamps. Have a good week x Jackie 24
Oh to look out a window and have that view. You are one lucky lady! Our weather has been terrible here so sunshine would be a welcome sight! Glenda #27
I love you get all these wonderful postcards. That dress is gorgeous. I have been to that museum and they have so many wonderful things to see. Glad your weather is back to normal and have fun with all those cool stickers!
I love, love, love that letter box! So bright and welcoming - a smile machine!!
We haven't had any snow as yet, plenty of rain if you want some!! lol
Have a good week

Love the red letterbox - so bright and cheerful! Snow. Yuck. Had enough lol. I'm looking forward to spring.
I love the postcard. The stamps look great too - it's always fun to look at the stamps from other countries.
Have a great week

Great letterbox, are you lucky enough to have post actually delivered?? we have a box at the PO.
I'm pleased to say I've only seen snow once in fourteen years here but the wind has been cold at times, especially in the shade.

Love the letterbox, love the dress (1940/50s?) But most of all I love that view! Stunning! Great stikers, hope you'll do something witht hem we can see soon! Happy WOYWW Cindy #38
Hi Lisca I was surprised to hear about your snow. We've not had any here in the middle of the country. I love your bright red postbox. It will make all those around look very boring. What a beautiful dress. You'd need to steer clear of red wine whilst wearing that beauty. The embroidery is amazing. Have a lovely week. Barbxx
Hi Lisca! Everything tastes good when you're hungry! Sometimes I feel I could chew the carpet if there was nothing else to eat! Love all the postage stamps you received! The sticky labels Royal Mail uses these days are a bit of a cop-out, though when I sent a packet to the US once, the recipient was over the moon with the label! But they're a bit samey, aren't they? Love the snow capped mountain view and your new post box definitely has a British feel to it! Have a lovely week! zsuzsa #40
Ah the stamps on that postcard are just fab and your letterbox is great. Quite London-esque. You need a couple of Beefeaters to stand guard next to it. A raven or two perhaps...! Thanks for sharing, Max #60
Hi Lisca, love those stamps. And that view! Stunning. I'd spend all day at the window just gazing at it. You are right, the bright red postbox does scream British at you, lol. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #6 xxx
one of the nicest compliments I ever got was that I looked like katherine Hepburn! I love postcards too. My SIL has a huge collection from her grandmother. love the artwork!

oooh I seriously wiped drool off the keyboard over your mailbox that is fantastic :) ~Stacy #59 (PS sawdust flavored cookies do not sound that good)
We have snow on the fells here, it looks pretty if you don't have to go out in the cold wind. I think the dress is 1950's maybe. KH is so photogenic isn't she. Enjoy your week
Jill
Hi Lisca,
That dress is stunning. Sorry no idea of the era.
Nice stickers and stamps. Love the post box.
What a lovely view you have. Glad you have the sun.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Happy WOYWW

First of all, I have to say that your husband has very good taste in letterboxes. I also love the artsy stamp composition on the back of the postcard you receive from the USA. Happy WOYWW!
Brilliant post box, love it! I like the postcard too and the stamps are great I so love them and have lots that I have collected over the years but do nothing with them. Have agreat woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 26
What a lovely post, Lisca, so full of interest! The view is stunning, and I adore the red post box! Gorgeous postcards. I love Katherine Hepburn too, and nice to see her on a postage stamp. I should say the dress was 1950s but I may be wildly wrong! It's lovely, whatever the era.
Thanks for your lovely comment, and I'm glad you like the cards. They have a box on the reception desk at the chemo unit with cards in it that people have made to donate, and they sell them to whoever wants to buy them, to raise funds to help keep that marvellous place going.
Yes, it's my Bosch hot glue gun that you spotted - I often get asked why there's an electric drill or screwdriver on my desk lol! I got so fed up with cheap glue guns that put more glue on the desk than on my work, that I decided to get the Rolls-Royce model and I've never regretted it.
I shall be posting some photos of the Hebrew alphabet sampler in due course, never fear! It may not be on WOYWW so "watch this space" as they say! I've done a lot, but there's still a lot to do, and it's pretty slow work, but high time I got on and finished it after about 25 years lol!!
I am seriously thinking of removing some stuffing from my now very fat little panda! I think you and my hubby are right. He needs to be more cuddly.
I'm very excited to see how our rock garden grows in the spring. We should have a nice show of flowers, all being well. Photos will follow!
Yes, definitely nice things to look forward to this week, and yes definitely NOT the dentist haha! This time tomorrow it will all be over. I don't know why I'm making such a fuss though because my poor hubby has raging toothache at the moment and a possible abscess so his check-up scheduled for tomorrow will probably end up being more than that!
Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi #61
Hi Lisca,
I love the red mailbox! It does look very British. The postcard is beautiful. I wonder if it's from the 1930s? I love Katherine Hepburn too. Hollywood definitely doesn't have stars like the old days (wonder if that's because we know so much more about their private lives?).
Thank you for visiting me already!
Happy belated WOYWW
Hugs, Kay (57)
LOVE the red mail box! So glad you found one! Stay warm, my friend. Belated Happy T Day, Lisca!
