WOYWW 349 - a postcard, a jigsaw and lacemaking

Good morning deskhoppers,

I am really reluctant to show you my desk this morning. It is an almighty mess. But this is what Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday is all about. If you want to know more, Julia at Stamping Ground will explain all.
There are my head phones, a diary/journal, a water bottle, my Bible, my lacemaking cushion, some loose bobbins, and some tiny boxes I have made out of left over Christmas cards.

I have started a new lace project. I want to make some small stars to hang in my Christmas tree next Christmas. Lacemaking takes ages to do, so I am starting now.

Here is a better picture of the cushion:
Speaking of lacemaking.... Through Postcrossing I received a lovely postcard recently from Russia.
I think this Russian lace is really beautiful, don't you?

The other thing I have been doing is... starting another jigsaw puzzle! Yes, I love doing jigsaws. Dear son-in-law gave me this one. It shows all the kings and queens of England.
This is as far as I got so far.

That's it from me today. My Wednesdays are always very busy but I will do my best and visit as many as I can.

Have a good week,

Blessings,

Lisca

Lisca you are as bad as me for having many things on the go. My mum fancies lacemaking but the class is to far away and it's at night so she'll have to carry on with her computer class for now, aqua aerobics, walking, woodcarving and crafting.
You can see where I get it from
Have a good week

Oh, I love jigsaws too!! The only problem is that I can't leave them alone once they're out :-). I always admire people who make lace, your patience must be amazing!!

I too love the look of the Russian lace - so delicate - can't wait to see the finished stars but I know personally how long they will take to do. I have fold away board for my puzzles so that my hubby doesn't moan about even more stuff left on tables - enjoy your week x Jackie 28

Oh you are busy at the moment, we love a good jigsaw too but it's a while since we've done one!

I used to make lace but just dont have the patience for it these days....still have all the gear though :-) I love my bobbins too much to part with them and had some made for the birth of my children many years ago.
Hope you have a great week.

Not so bad a desk because it means you have a lot of fun things going on in your life, which is always a good thing. I am interested in that lace making. I always wondered how they hand made lace and I can't wait to see your progress.

Morning Lisca, What an interesting collection of things on your desk today. The Russian lace really is very beautiful and I was interested to see your lace pillow too. I started lace making in the 80s when I moved to Buckinghamshire. I figured I should have a go as I was in the right place. I've not done any for some years now but still have pillows and bobbins stacked away.

I also belonged to a jig saw puzzle swap group when I was a young mum. That was great fun. The one you're working on looks super. Have a lovely week. Barbxx

I also have quite a few English bobbins (with the pretty beads). I beaded them myself. And I have a few commemorative ones too. They are a treasure. The continental bobbins are uninteresting in comparison...

It's a very "active" desk, not messy! I'm not sure I would have to patience for lace-making, but I can imagine it's therapeutic like zentangling. I got into jigsaws once - I've completed two 1000 piece pictures (one an ocean scene, the other a space one with planets). I enjoyed both tremendously, but that was before I discovered arting - now I wouldn't have the time or the patience, but it's something nice to look forward to when I'm retired. I'm sure I'll get into it again. The one you have looks doable - I'm convinced that some of them are impossible to complete with a full head of hair! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #37

It looks like a creative desk!

I can't remember the last time I did a jigsaw puzzle. It looks very detailed. You must be a very patient person. The lace looks like it is very detailed as well. I'll look forward to seeing it progress.

My mum was a lace-maker ... I loved looking at her speciality bobbins she'd had made :) It is truly an artform that should be passed on - nothing quite matches the beauty of handmade lace.
Have a wonderful Wednesday :)

Your lace stars are going to look fabulous on your Christmas tree, and the postcard of the Russian lace is stunning - I would love to be able to make something that beautiful but it would probably take a life-time! Strangely, having disliked jigsaws all my life, I started enjoying them about three years ago and now I always have one or two out over Christmas and winter - they are perfect for cold dark evenings! I like the look of yours, something a bit different to all my snow scenes!
Have a great week and happy lace-making,

Oh my gosh! I love puzzles! I recently started putting them together after a 3 year hiatus (had to wait for the kittens to grow up some). Your desk is messy but it is a fun and creative mess! That's what it is all about! PJ #53

How wonderful that you are continuing with the lace - did you manage to find someone to finish off last week's piece?
Your stars will look beautiful on the tree ....

I am fascinated by your lace making cushion and those cool bobbins. I've never known or witnessed the making of lace in my life, so I'm very impressed too. Happy WOYWW, my friend!

Love the bobbin lace, Lisca, they will look Lovley indeed. And yes it does take a long time, as would the Russian lace too I guess.
Your desk is way tidier than mine :)
Happy WOYWW, thanks for popping over!

I have become addicted to jigsaws on the internet. Not as big as yours I must add.
Lacemaking - wow that is a craft I would love to do but have never attempted as it looks far too complicated for me. I love the bobbins people have.
Hugs & Thanks for the visit

Hi Lisca,

WOW - the lace project looks very intense! The Russian lace postcard is beautiful and what perfect timing. Your desk looks nice and busy - not a mess at all.

Have fun with the puzzle. It's been ages since I've done one.

Happy belated WOYWW

I admire anyone with the patience to do lace making. I'm a very keen crafter and will try most things once, but I've skipped that one !!! #66

It's so lovely seeing lacemaking on WOYWW! I think you're the only one. Your stars are beautiful, as is the Russian lace. I don't think your desk is that messy - it's just busy! Nice to see it with lots going on.

Thank you for your visit and your nice comment and your kind words about my drawing - stamps definitely have their place in my art world. At KnitterNatter I did a very small amount of cross stitch on the Russian border of my Hebrew alphabet sampler - I'll take some photos of it soon. It's going to take a long time to complete!

I go from the sublime to the ridiculous - recently I wasn't able to do anything creative and wasn't even interested but now I've got so many ideas I don't know what to do with them all, and not enough time to put them into practice! I feel human again now my mojo has returned.

Happy belated WOYWW,
