Hello lovely girls,
Today, as every Friday, I'm going to show you what made me smile this week. And of course, as every Friday, I start with a postcard.
(I am a member of Postcrossing.com It is a free online project that lets you send real postcards and receive them back from random people all over the world. Created in 2005, its core rule is simple: for every postcard you send to a stranger, you will receive one back from a different random stranger.)
It was sent to me from Japan, from a girl called Harka. It has the stamp on the illustration side of the postcard, but it's not a Maxi-card. To be a maxi-card, the stamp must be related to the image and it must be a first edition issued by the local postal service.
Google Translate tells me that the 'cancellation stamp' reads: 'Cat Day'.
The Meow Pun: The number two is "ni" in Japanese. Three twos (2/22) sound like ni-ni-ni, which mimics nyan-nyan-nyan (meow, meow, meow).
The horse image on the card is by artist Nishi Shuku (西淑)
Paperwhisper.com writes: Nishi Shuku is a Kyoto-based Japanese illustrator and painter known for her quiet, poetic, and story-filled world. Her work is widely featured across Japan in advertising, book covers, and packaging. Her serene depictions of forests and animals bring a gentle warmth and sense of wonder to viewers.

What have I been doing here in Spain? Well, the weather has been changing. We've had cooler days and it has rained a couple of times:
This is so unusual that I took a picture.
Then the big event here in Spain was the solar eclipse! I had experienced one before (can't remember when) and remember it was very eery when night fell in the middle of the day. This time, where we live, it was near sun set at 19:35 and it finished after 8 pm.
I had my special glasses at the ready:
Just as the eclipse was about to happen, it suddenly got cloudy and it started to rain!
But the clouds lifted and I had a good view of the phenomena. My friend took the following picture (my camera didn't capture anything useful):

That's a great postcard and I love all the postmarks, stamps etc on it. Japan is big into stamping and they even have them at places you visit so you can stamp I guess a travel book. And hurrah for rain, and hurrah that the sun came out in time so you could see some of the eclipse. We were only at 17% at my house so it was only a little clip off the sun. But still it's very interesting to have one. I hope it stays a little cooler for you and you have a super rest of your Friday and weekend ahead. hugs-Erika
Hi Lisca, I would love it to rain here Lincolnshire is very dry right now. I missed the eclipse as the view wasn't so good here. I absolutely understand how the duck feels as I've always had problems with sun visors. Thanks for asking about my hospital visit. It just started out of the blue and no matter how much more I had to drink the dizziness got worse so had no idea what was going on so decided to get checked out. I'm pleased to say that the results were very positive and it must have been that I was getting more and more dehydrated so I've been taking salts tablets in water and things are getting better. It was very frightening as I kept feeling like I was about to faint but didn't. I have never had anything like it before and hopefully I will not let that happen again. Have a good weekend. You received a very beautiful card, Lisca. What do you do with all the postcards you receive? Do you collect them and do you eventually throw them away?
I wish we had some rain here - and I also think many parts of Spain and France would love that, too. Those wildfires have been horrific.
My daugher saw the eclipse in Mallorca (that was the reason she went there, the island wasn't really on her radar) and loved it. Before that we had seen a solar eclipse together in Oregon, back in 2017. Maybe you saw the other eclipse you mentioned in 1999? I remember that one, we were still living in Germany back then.
This is a very nice card with a lovely note. The art is on the card is very attractive and feels like Japanese art. Well, I guess so. LOL Yes, Nishi Shuku has a beautiful smile and I do like her art. What an unusual postcard. I like it. I also like the bird postage stamp and the kitty.
I have seen one total eclipse. What I remember is how quiet it got and how the temperature immediately dropped. So glad you got to enjoy yours.
Ronnie is looking regal. Loved the funny of the guy at the World Cup. I can relate to the duck. That hits home. I laughed hard at the last one. That could be me! Happy FFO and Smiles.
Never done much with postcards. But I'm fairly creative.
