Hello lovely peeps,
As I am writing this, I'm watching a live broadcast from Rome as the new pope has just been announced, and I listened to his speech. I know nothing about this man, only that he is American born.
But let me show you my postcard for today:
It comes from Italy. In my profile I wrote that I love maps. I haven't got one from Italy yet. It's Emilia Romagna, a region in the north of Italy and it has famous cities in it like Bologna, Parma, Ravenna and Rimini.
The card was written by Barbara who lives in a village near Parma.
The stamp is the classic International stamp:
So what is happening here? The last time I wrote I was in the UK, and last Friday it was a Second on the 2nd, so no update about me and my life.
In England I went to a reunion of work colleagues. I worked in a hospice as a nurse specialized in palliative care. I retired in 2011 after working there for 20 years.
It was great to see everyone again and we had a lovely party.
In Bristol I stayed with my friend Maggie:
She and her husband took me to Hereford, and of course we went to see the cathedral:
I loved the organ. The pipes are so beautifully decorated:
The big (I assume bass) pipes are huge!
They are the height of the cathedral.
I was also impressed with the (Modern) candelabra in the middle.
The widows are gorgeous.
The cathedral is most famous for housing the Mapa Mundi.
This is a copy that hung next to the original one so that people can see more clearly.
My Internet has gone off (again) so I’ll try to finish this on my phone but the photo of the Mappa Mundi is on my computer so I can only show you the copy.
I found it utterly fascinating.
This will be all for now. I’ll try and add some funnies.
Have a lovely weekend!
Lisca

Now I think Spaghetti and ham! You make me all hungry. And with the stamp also Pizza.
Oh, boy, you sure did a very tough job. I could never do that. I helped both parents in their last weeks, it was horrible. Though with Mum we even found a laugh here and there.
Beautiful pipes indeed! And windows, amazing what they did back then.
You have me laughing so hard here. In Freo/Perth, Ingo: "G, here in Australia we have anything but time!" - G, staring at her Pizza: "Ingo, we DO have thyme here in Australia!"
Also.. Deutsche Bahn has neither.
Good gardening tip. Oh, Picard. Sexy is good, too! OK, yes,old....
Have a great weekend and thank you for the laughs and memories!
Looks like you’ve been having a lovely time. I love Hereford and all that goes with it…it has a lovely fabric shop 😀 have a great week.
Hugs,

Just stopped by to see how you were doing. How nice to have that reunion. I agree with Iris. You had a tough job and I'm impressed you didn't burn out. Loved the funnies.
That reunion looks like a fun time. I bet you are happy you could go, and also see your friend. Wow to that church. The stained glass windows, especially the one on the left is amazing. And I also saw that there was a white smoke so I turned and the TV to see who the new pope would be. I'm not Catholic, but he is a world leader. I was surprised to see an American, but they interviewed his brother on TV who said when he was a child he liked to play church other than the other kids who played house. And their neighbor (at that time) said he'd probably end up being pope. I liked those stories, because they did end up being true. Have a lovely weekend. hugs-Erika
Pleased to see you having such a good time. It's great to get together with old friends. Great pics of the cathedral too. Your funnies made me smile. Have a good weekend. Hugs |Angela xXx
I've got the jigsaw of the mappa mundi - it's fascinating to see the weird & wonderful creatures that travellers had described inhabiting the edges of the earth!
Glad all your travels went well!
