Hello lovely peeps,
Today my blog post is a little different as it's also Second on the 2nd where we post something from the past, a post that has been published before. This is a post from ten years ago, 15 April 2015. I was doing scrapbooking then and this post also has a postcard (the gipsy girl dancing). Anyway, here it is:
Feliz miercoles! (means: happy Wednesday!)
I’m happy because I get to peep at the desks of all my friends in blogland. If you have no idea what I am talking about, visit Julie at her blog. She is desk hopper supreme at http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com.es/
I'm a bit late today as this morning I had to go to the hospital for a mammogram, ultrasound and various Xrays. I had cancer a few years ago and this is part of my regular check up. I pray that all is well.
Here is my desk.
I have made an effort to write words in the picture. I have PSE (Adobi Photoshoop Elements, an older version) and I never use it because it is quite a learning curve. I am determined to learn how to use it. I have promised myself that if I do, I will allow myself to buy the latest version.
So on my desk is a scrapbook page in the making. I’m doing CSI challenge 160 (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/) and the colour palette is perfect for those photos I have of our trip to Valencia in December. There is the washi tape I bought at Lidls not long ago, and a strip of chevrons that I made from a die and used as a template, which I used with acrylic paste to give the page some texture. The doodle is an attempt to draw an owl (not very successfully...)
I have a confession to make: I love doing jigsaw puzzles! Yes, I know, very sad indeed. But I have always liked doing them and in my working life there was never time. I was looking forward to retirement because I would have time to do puzzles. I have quite a collection and I have got them out of the cupboard and doing them again. This one (from the Buried Blueprints collection) I finished this week and alas: there are three pieces missing! How frustrating!
I have gotten in the habit of showing a postcard. Last week I didn’t and I have got asked where the postcard was, so OK, today there is a postcard. I thought I’d show you one of the cards I send rather than one I received. This is a gypsy girl dancing flamenco. I love black and white photos and this girl is so expressive in her pose. Flamenco is the dance typical of this region. Whenever there is a celebration, local ladies will dress up in those typical flamenco dresses and dance impromptu.
To finish this page I am showing you a photo of my mum when she was young. (she is now in her nineties and living independently) Here she is on the left in 1939 on one of those famous Dutch ‘sit-up-and-beg’ bikes. Isn’t that a brilliant photo! I love it!
That’s it for this week. Thanks everybody for your kind comments last week. I will try and visit as many of you as I can in the course of the week.
God bless all of you,
Lisca

That's a great idea to post an old blog post so often they get forgotten and it's so interesting to see what we were up to then. Lovely photo of your mum too. Hope the tests go well. Have a great weekend, hugs Angela xXx
When I broke my foot I did jigsaws, but online.
My last postcard came from Ukraine and I can only read half of it.
I did postcrossing years ago, too.
Cute pic of your Mum - thank you for the smile, have a nice day!
Lots to smile about even if it’s not a new post.
Hugs,
Annie x
Happy second of May Lisca. I love your look back. And to think that photo of your Mom was before the war. That must have changed so many things for her. I hope your trip is going well. hugs-Erika
What a fabulous second look, Lisca. I remember when WOYWW had so many participants, it was hard to visit all in one day. Now it's not the same. I have an old version of PS, the full fledged version I had to purchase when a client hired me. It cost a fortune at the time and I STILL know nothing about how to use it, except to watermark my images. This is a fabulous second look because it is a first look for me. I hope you are havig a great time on your trip.
Dear Lisca,
I enjoyed reading your 10-year-old post, which is completely new to me. And it's good to know that the cancer hasn't come back, even after all these years. That's the most important thing. (One of my "aunts" - cousin of my mother - is fighting breatcancer since some years; she said there is no chance to win the battle, but as long as live is okay for her she will fight.)
The puzzle looks like hard work, but it's definitely frustrating when pieces are missing. Your postcard is also very pretty, and I especially like the photo of your mother as a young woman with a bicycle. A truly great picture!
Thank you for telling me about your Interrail experiences in your comment on my previous post. I've heard several times that Interrail isn't as straightforward as it was when I was younger. Then we just hopped on a train and drove off... (and sometimes we even ended up in the wrong city because it was obviously the wrong train ;-D No matter, that was part of the adventure!) I'm glad to read that you enjoyed the Spain-France-Belgium-Netherlands-Germany-Switzerland-Italy-France-Spain trip, despite the seat/reservation issues!
All the best, Traude

PS: I hope you didn't have too much trouble with the power outages!?
The tea was hiding. Those B&W pics are great!
Nice to read the old post and see how you have changed… do you still do collage art?
