A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 9 October 2018 - T for Tuesday - T for black & white, cow sheds and sisters.

Well hello! Long time no see! We're back! We arrived home on Sunday evening after being on the road for exactly a month. I have not been able to blog during that time as Blogger and iPhones don't see eye to eye. I could post something with difficulty but only without photos. Well, that's no fun, so I left it at that.

Today is the 9th of October and it's my 'little' sister's birthday. (Happy birthday Ank) and today is also Tuesday, so I'm joining Elisabeth and Bluebeard for T For Tuesday. Anyone can join the T-Party, just include a beverage in your post. My beverage is a glass of wine as you will see later.

First of all a postcard. I have put my Postcrossing hobby on hold during my trip  but here is a card that I received before I left:

It was sent to me from Germany. (I have put in my profile that I like black and white photography as well as 'pin-ups'. So I was very happy with Marilyn with her stylish bikini.
The stamps were just as interesting:

Nelson Mandela also in black and white.

Now for some photos of our trip. The fist night we stopped near Cuenca. Cuenca is a quaint little town and none of the hotels had parking so we stayed outside town in a rural hotel called La Antigua Vaqueria (The Old Cowshed):

The hotel had a pleasant patio (inner courtyard):

But there was no wifi in the rooms. The only place with wifi was in one corner of the patio, so here I am posing with hubby's laptop:

In the evening we went to (the only) bar/restaurant in the village for something to eat.
It is here that I join the T Party with my glass of wine.
I had grilled squid. Very nice it was too.
The dessert was a sort of bread pudding in cream. It was utterly delicious:

Cuenca is famous for its 'Hanging Houses'. Here is an image from Wikipedia:
We drove to Cuenca the next morning but couldn't find any of the old things. After a couple of hours driving around we gave up as we had a lot of traveling to do that day.
We stopped here though (still in Cuenca) along the river:

Lovely rock formations! And the love of my life, my rock, is also in the picture.

That is it from me today,
Happy T-Day everyone, and have a good week!
Lisca

  1. Wonderful shots of your first stop, Cuenca. The photos of your food and wine were perfect, and I enjoyed the place where you stayed, too. I LOVED what you said about YOUR ROCK. You ROCK, Lisca. I'm sure he feels the same about you.

That postcard of Marilyn Monroe is wonderful. She was so misunderstood. Of course, the photo of what Cuenca was famous for was brilliant, too.

I loved reading about your food and white wine, but you may keep your squid. I'm not really a fan, but it could because of the way it was prepared. Thanks for taking us with you to Cuenca and sharing your postcard, food and white wine with us for T this Tuesday. Glad to see you back for T, too.

  10. The hotel you stayed in looks charming - I am not so sure about the squid though! I have only tried it once and wasn't so keen so it's been a "no' every time since then! Loved the picture of the two rocks! Happy T day! Chrisx
