A Postcard A Day - Friday 3 January 2025 - Friday Smiles

 Hello lovely girls,

A very happy New Year to you! Looking back I have had a very good year. As you know I lost my husband two years ago. I took me all of 2023 to grieve and to adjust to living on my own. The year 2024 I can say that I got used to it and have found new happiness within me. I can honestly say I am now enjoying life again.

Let me show you my postcard:

Especially for those in the UK this is very true. This card comes to me from someone called Lidwina in Germany. She writes she has toured through Andalusia some years ago.

The stamps is the usual stamp from the baby animals series:
Baby goats (kids) in this case.

The past week has been really weird. Boxing Day in Spain is a normal working day and, like many people, I lost count of what day it was. But New Year's Eve arrived, and I chose to stay at home (I'm not much of a party animal). I had a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge and I had the heating on, and watched tv in a special cuddle-up-on-the-sofa garment:
I asked Dian next door if she wanted to come and help me drink it, so together we welcomed the New Year in.

Of course I had the BBC on and they have midnight when it's 1 a.m. here, so we nearly missed it. We toasted at 4 minutes past midnight. (but hey, it doesn't matter).

I managed to finish my advent jigsaw puzzle on New Year's Eve:

24 little puzzles in 24 individual little boxes:

I'm going to un-do it and put it away for next year. I really enjoyed it, and will do it again.

That's it from me today, apart from some funnies at the end.
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2025!

Hugs,
Lisca

Going from 2025 back into 2024:

PS, Did anyone in the UK see that documentary about the Year 2024 from Space on Ch4? There you can see the northern lights from space. Spectacular!

A Very Happy new Year. I am glad there is light at the end of the tunnel for you now.
We had a quiet NYE in as well. We did manage to find the Madrid celebration on RTVE at mdnight and Big Ben in London on BBC at 1.00, and we also enjoyed watching a video of the fireworks in Denmark sent by our son.
2024 seemed to hurry by and we have high hopes for 2025. I wonder where we will be at midnight next New Year's Eve. Kate X

I’m very late visiting today as we have had a hectic day making memories with the boys….yes my son has split up from his wife but I don’t like to put everything on my blog as it’s personal for him. It’s been a very difficult time for all and we are doing our best to help and support.
Hugs,
Annie x

Hi Lisca, sorry I'm late as we've been travelling and yes we are in France to ski first time since Covid started so hoping I can remember how to do it. Another lovely stamp and the Jigsaw is amazing, well done. Great collection of funnies too. Take care and have a Happy New Year xXx

Dear Lisca, I am VERY happy that you were able to enjoy your life again after the mourning period! It is important to mourn when you have lost a loved one, but it is also important to enjoy the gift of life again one day.

"Vitamin Sea" is something that I also miss a lot in my homeland of inland Austria. Not a drop of sea water anywhere... but luckily I like to travel ;-)

I think you spent New Year's Eve in a pleasant way. Whenever you toast, the night doesn't care and it doesn't change the course of the next year.

I wish you and everyone who is important to you a healthy, peaceful and happy New Year with many wonderful moments!

PS: This time, put all the puzzle pieces together in ONE box, then it will be more exciting next year ;-)

Happy New Year! Sounds like you had the perfect celebration. I always love doing a puzzle over the holidays too! This year I did one of a cute coastal town in New England. Do you like to set resolutions for the new year? This year I want to try and cook at home more, learn to knit, and have my kitchen cabinets refinished. I would love to hear what 2025 has in store for you!
