Update on building project and craft desk

Update for those who are interested:

We’re living in an old cave house in Andalucia, Spain, while we construct a house next door.  My desk is a fold up table, and there is a limited amount of stash (all my stuff is still in the house that we have been living in before). It’s a good exercise as I have to craft with what I’ve got, and I have to find ways round not having everything at hand. (if you understand what I mean).

My husband kindly got me my comfy chair, the shelf unit thingy, and a box of stash from the other house! Oh I’m a happy bunny now!

So happy, in fact, that I made him his favourite raisin and walnut bread. (See photo) While I was baking, I also made a loaf of brown bread the lazy way (a bread mix from Lidl). Yum, freshly baked brown bread with real butter and cheese.....

The build is going well. We are building over 4 levels as we are on a hill. We've reached the top level, and this week I hope the roof will go on that top bit.  We should really hang out the flag (only, I haven’t got one....). Level 3 has a lounge with an arch (and a view).

Here is a picture of me sitting on the beginnings of the arch. Tomorrow, weather permitting (it’s been raining) the builders will put bricks around this mould. When the cement is dry, they take away the mould. Voila an arch! Easypeasy.

Thank you all for your interest and lovely comments.

CU soon and God bless,

Lisca

Morning, Lisca,
glad you have a desk for playing while your house is being built. Yummy looking bread.
Thanks for visiting my page, the kings are die cuts, not stamps, and I will show finished cards, when I get there!
Fortunately can't cook at church because weekend is in a scout camp and can't get in until 3pm Friday, so couldn't possibly do it all before kids arrive at 4pm.

I bet it's hard crafting with limited stash but how wonderful to be having your own house built and in such a beautiful place.
Mmmm Walnut and raisin bread, you are making my mouth water.

Oh what a lovely home you're going to have!!! Lucky duck! As a military family, we move quite often, so I understand what you mean by having to "make do" with a small amount of stash in between times. Good luck!

Happy Crafting!

Wow, you sure do have a view, how fabuloso! So glad the build is on track, building into a hillside must be very complicated. I understand about your crafting with what you've got...it's a good discipline isn't it.

Fresh baked bread with butter and cheese, yum! And that view is so great! Well, if I'm ever in your part of the world (which doesn't seem likely, so you're pretty safe), I'm popping in :)
Thanks for dropping by ... the rust technique is not a secret :) but I am going to try another method, and then I'll put a "how to" in a post, probably by next week :)
Have a good week,

OMG your house will be brilliant and that view of the mountains in the distance, something to look out at whilst relaxing in your living room. It's also very nice to see you in person. As for your craft spot it is looking better each week. I just need to know when the fresh bread and cheese is served so I can pop on over and join you.

Now that is one view and it's so interesting to see the before the arch is made with the cast that will look amazing when done and sweet of your DH to bring you some more stash to play with I know how it is to be forced into using limited supplies, but we can manage with less. Seeing your lacking a bigger block you could always attach some acetate to some wood and create a make shift block till you get one :) Happy WOYWW hugs Nikki 8

Are you going to have a craft room when all the building work is over? Hope if you do, you can have it so you can look out over that stunning view.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Always good to challenge yourself to limited products when creating helps us think out of the box. Wish I had the patience to bake bread - love making cakes but bread is too much trouble. Your house looks like it's coming on a treat and that view is stunning. Thank you for popping over to my blog Anita woyww #49

The building is going fabulous! I think you have a very nice crafty space carved out for yourself--some people's permanent spaces aren't that nice, so woo hoo! We crafters have to have our supplies! So, I watch Downton Abbey when Masterpiece Classic shows it on PBS. The U.S. won't get the next season of it until around January 2015--but I can't wait. I have all of season 3 on my DVR, and lately I've been watching them again. I'm sure there are other ways to get it online since it's showing in the UK now, but I have no idea how to do that! I also heard George Clooney going to be on this next season. Yay! Thanks for your visit. Sandy Leigh #34

Hi Lisca! I am so envious of the view you will have from that lounge! Superb! the bread looks rather delicious - I can almost smell it from here. Good to hear you are gradually getting your crafty stuff round you, you will be all organised very soon I am sure. Have a good week, sorry I am so late visiting. Cindy

I don't know how long it will take. We have a very limited budget so the short answer is: when the money runs out. Then my hubby will have to finish it on his own. He's not a builder but has done so much building work, he might as well be. (He's a retired caterer). We hope to get the building secure and watertight, (roofs, windows and doors etc) and hubby will do the indoor stuff.
I'm very excited that my craft room will have an arch and a view too.

Forgot to say the round thing on my desk is called a stamping gear. It is a tool so that you can stamp in circles or ovals (that one) with regular spacing you can also get squares etc. Haven't had a chance to play with it properly but I will put something on my blog soon. It's sort of for pattern making. Cindy x

Lisca said...

Thanks for explaining that. Looking forward to seeing it in action in a future blog.
