WOYW?W 278

Hi peeps,

Thank you for visiting my desk. Yes, it’s desk hopping time again. If you don’t understand what I mean, have a look at Julie’s blog at http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com.es/
But beware! It’s highly addictive!

I'm early today. I got woken up by the sound of the cement mixer. The workmen are here.....
This is what my ‘desk’ looks like today.

As many know, we are living on a building site so I use the kitchen table when available. It makes me very disciplined in that I have to put everything away every time. My ‘desk’ today is a small occasional table as the kitchen table is occupied with something else. (see further down).

As you can see I busted my (kitchen) scissors! No panic! I found another pair in my craft box/crate. And later today I will have to go to the shops and get another one for the kitchen.

I’m in the process doing a layout using CSI’s latest challenge and palette. (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/) You can see some papers and bits that I've prepared so far. I've just die-cut some leaves as the brief mentions leaves. I’ll show you next week what I've done.

For those who wondered what I did with the papers I had on my desk last week.... here is the finished layout which I called Ship Ahoy! It’s about an adventure. In 1955 I went to stay in England for 3 months without my parents at the tender age of 4. I've used the original (tiny) photos. Have a look and read about it in my previous blog.(Friday 26 Sept)

Now in case you’d like to know what is actually on the kitchen table... it is this jigsaw! I’ve nearly finished it. It’s from the series ‘Buried Blueprints’ by artist Albert Lorenz, who’s work I love. I haven’t decided what to do with the finished puzzle: do I take it apart again? Or shall I frame it?

Some people have asked me how the build is going. We’re building on a hillside, so the foundations are extensive. We've only just finished the foundations. There’s no point in showing you a photo because there’s nothing to see, but I will show you as soon as we have completed something above ground.

That’s it for today.

Have a good week and God bless you all.

Lisca

Great layout and wow that is one brilliant jigsaw puzzle, I do jigsaws on my iPad no mess and take it with you, it also comes in multiple pieces for challenges. Show pictures of the foundations, we are all interested from the ground up, hey it sure is a different desk for sure. Happy creating when you can.

That is some jigsaw, Lisca. I make them, take them apart, put them away - and do them again later! That is a lovely layout you have put together - what memories, travelling all that way on your own...
All the best with the build works - been there, and got the VERY dusty tee-shirt!
Take care. God bless.

I have no self build experience, but I can tell you that once foundations are laid, your vision of size will be cheated - foundations for some reason, always look much smaller per room than the finished room. Weird! you must have been going some to snap the scissors - how very keen you are!

Really love the layout and I totally think the puzzle needs framing - it looks so interesting and like it must have taken a while. I am a bit curious about the Man Against Woman title tho'... :)

Happy WOYWW!

Hi Lisca, happy WOYWW. Great page and I so remember those tiny photos..not of me...but my mum...After going through a box of my nans in the shed for 8 years I found the only photo of my mum as a newborn with both her parents, so tiny but after scanning it I was able to enlarge it quite a bit and it is now very precious for me and my family tree research. That zigsaw is amazing, wow. Hope the building continues well for you, Cheers RobynO#40

Love your layout! Such memories! And the jigsaw puzzle... frame it if you have a spot in mind to hang it. I've never seen a puzzle like that before, so much detail! Hope the foundations go well and you can start with the framing. Happy WOYWW!

Hi Lisca, I enjoyed reading your lovely post. Your scrap page is lovely ... I like the papers, the layout and the photos. I'm so glad to read that as a 4 year old you remember that time with pleasure. The jigsaw looks so complicated ... I'd be tempted to frame it rather than break it up again. Hope the work being done on your house progresses well. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #51

Hi again, Lisca. Yes the crown jewels are still kept there, and they are on display- granted in huge glass cases. But they are a magnificent sight. You are not supposed to take pictures, but Beloved Hubby was rather naughty with his camera phone, lol. If you go to our FB page( link in sidebar), there is an album of photos from the Tower, with a few pics of the Crown Jewels, amongst others. Shaz xxx

Hi Lisca, just popping back to thank you for your comment and answer your question about the embossing on my Rudolph Day card. I first embossed the piece of white card in the usual way, by putting it in the embossing folder and through my Cuttlebug. Once that was done all I did was sponge gold metalic ink over the top of the embossed card using a piece of cut and dry foam. Finally, I trimmed the card to size and inked around the edges before adhering it to the base. I hope I've explained the method clearly, if not, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will do my best to help. Elizabeth x #51

Hey Lisca, you're a truly dedicated scrapper, letting nothing stop you from finding a space to work in - your adventure page looks wonderful, I love the way you've incorporated the small photos into the design. That jigsaw looks very difficult to do, I think I would have to frame it as it would make a great piece to hang on the wall. Sorry for the late return visit, we got home from Budapest later than expected - and thank you yes we had a great time and there was no work involved at all! Have a great week, Annie C #82

Hi Lisca, thank you for your visit to my blog earlier! I've just read your profile and I must say I envy you! Your life sounds so idyllic in Andalusia! I love your scrapbook layout and the jigsaw too! I've completed a total of 2 jigsaws in my life: one was a seascape, the other the solar system, which glows in the dark! I thoroughly enjoyed doing them both, but they took a loooong time to complete. It has to be the right kind of jigsaw for me though - if it's too challenging then I get frustrated and give up. I once attempted to put together a lenticular jigsaw, but it just gave me a headache! I wouldn't touch those with a barge pole! Sorry about blabbering! I talk too much! Have a crafty weekend! zsuzsa @ InkiDinkyDoodle

I used to wotk on the dining room table before I took over a bedroom as a craft room. Vivid memories of starting off b being good Andyd tying everything away, quickly changed to shoving everything to back of table lol! Only cleared it when space to eat became too small for 2 table mats!
Thanks for your kind comments

Wonderful lo, Lisca--I work from an occasional table quite often, too, scurrying back to my art room for supplies now and again, but it keeps me more with the family/in the action.

Thank you for your visit this week, I look forward to another building photo next week!
