A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 1 October 2024 - T for palm trees, boardwalk and BBQ

Hello lovely peeps, how are you all? I'm still travelling, but am back in Spain, staying with my sister in Marbella.

As per usual I have a postcard for you:

It comes from Lithuania and features a girl reading a book to an owl and a ghostlike creature. There is no artist name on the card so I couldn't tell you who created these cute characters.

The stamps are colourful

Bottom left we see Vytensis: Vytenis was Grand Duke of Lithuania from c. 1295 to c. 1316. He became the first of the Gediminid dynasty to rule for a considerable amount of time. In the early 14th century, his reputation outshone that of Gediminas, who is regarded by modern historians as one of the greatest Lithuanian rulers. Wikipedia

The stamp next to that one features Kestutis: Kęstutis was the Grand Duke of Lithuania. He was the Duke of Trakai and governed the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, 1342–1382, together with his brother Algirdas, and with his nephew Jogaila. Wikipedia.

The large stamp at the top has a peace motto on it: "Peace is the greatest value of humanity".

Now what have I been up to? I was in Lisbon and Keren and I had a mojito cocktail (I had never had one). I certainly enjoyed it. Here we are:
So this is my qualifier to join in the T-Party.

On the last day (Saturday), we went to the beach resort of Cascais, an hour by train from Lisbon. We wanted to go out for lunch somewhere and ended up eating Persian. Neither of us had ever eaten Persian and it was delicious. Especially the rice. Rob and I both had a lamb shank each. It was delicious.

One more photo from Cascais:
Of course Elisabeth loves palm trees and this photo is especially for her.

On Sunday I travelled back to Spain. I'm now staying at my sisters in Marbella. Here she is by the pool. (She didn't want to pose):

The tree behind her is flowering:
I don't know what tree it is other than that it is a palm tree (duh!)

The weather is lovely (we had some rain in Lisbon but here the weather is glorious).
Here I am with my brother in law by the BBQ, where he was cooking some chicken breasts for our salad:

We went for a walk today along the boardwalk that goes along the coast to Marbella. We actually walked away from Marbella to a place called La Calahonda.
The boardwalk was temporarily closed at some point and we could see why. There had been a small landslides:
I would not like to live in that bottom flat...

That is all from me today.

Happy T-Day!

Lisca

That's an adorable postcard. and those stamps are really unique. I've seen similar peace stamps from other countries before, I believe.

Looks like you are having a wonderful time on your latest trip. Nice to see Keren. I take it you stayed with her. Glad you enjoyed your mojito. Yes, I LOVE that palm tree you shared just for me!!

Your sister has an amazing home. Beautiful landscaping. I have never seen a palm flower before,. but I love all the different ones in her garden, including the banana palm.

Thanks for sharing your postcard, trip, and mojito with us for T this Tuesday, dear Lisca.

Your trip looks wonderful, despite a long day (night?) on the bus which you seem to have used profitably to knit a sock or two. I hope you keep enjoying your visit with your sister.
