Hello lovely girls, how are you all?
Another week has passed, and we have heard that England has quarantine measures for people coming from Spain. Bummer, I can see our trip at the end of August being cancelled.
But I am here to tell you about my smiles and not my woes, so here goes: My postcard comes from Germany and is all about...bread!
I love German bread. They eat a lot of rye bread, which I love. I can still remember when women could cut the bread by hand. A loaf under their arm and a large knife carving a thin slice from the bread. Wonderful. Do they still do it that way? Iris? Valerie?
The stamps are from the series of flowers. The flower on the right is Wiesenschaumkraut, or Lady's Smock in English. And the stamp on the left is Kapuzinerkresse, which is a type of nasturtium.
I love the sticker: Keep Calm and Stay at Home.
My week has been good. On Friday, I went walking with my friend and we walked a part of the Via Verde (the green way) which is a disused railway. This stretch included a railway tunnel. That was fun to walk through.
Then in the evening our friends D and P came for a BBQ. We had been looking forward to seeing our friends and having a good conversation. Great.
No, I did not go to Holland, But my sister, who lives in England (when she's not in Spain) went to visit. Mum has a large apartment with a guest room as well, so we take it in turns to go and see her.
I documented that I had an ice cream. That is unusual, as I don't eat a lot of ice cream. But we had bought those mini magnums, which is just enough for me.
Sunday is church day. We watch two church services online, then have a Zoom meeting with another couple with whom we form a house group. Then in the evening we do a bit of worship in a farm out in the country.
Monday another walk with my friend. The abundant produce everywhere in the field lightened our spirit. Look at all these pears hanging over the fence!
After the walk we stopped at a cafe and had some freshly squeezed orange juice. The cigarette vending machine had an unfortunate name...
On Tuesday I went to the post office to collect my mail, and in the evening hubby and I went to eat pizza in the village (5 minutes walk from our house). More smiles.
On Wednesday a small parcel was delivered. I didn't know what it could be as I hadn't ordered anything. It turns out to be a fake gold ring in a pretty box. Heaven knows what I am going to do with that. It is quite pretty but I don't wear jewelry (apart from a plain wedding band).
In the evening it rained! That is a big smile for us as it seldom rains and goodness knows the soil needs it.
Hubby (plus two other guys) has been working on the irrigation system.
Well, that was my week. Now I'm going to link up with Annie at A Stitch In Time and with Virginia at Rocking your Week Friday. Why don't you join me there?
As per usual, I will put some funnies at the end.
Stay safe everyone!
Hugs,
Lisca

Oh Lisca your funnies really got me chuckling esp the last one...the hedge at the bottom of our road needs cutting by the council because it covers the road name but at least it doesn't leave something quite that bad uncovered.
I love seeing all you do each week....most of my colages would be filled with masks and Memroy bears at the mo :-)
Hugs,
Annie x
Ah a fab post, the gold ring is definitely a mystery, I envied your comment about having a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, when we were at the hotel in Stafford a few weeks ago, it was something they'd stopped doing due to the human contact factor, so I had bottled instead.
The funnies had me smiling, although the beige facemask is just plain wrong.
We've got a one day heatwave today - 31 degrees with as you know for the UK is extremely hot, although it will be 21 tomorrow - hurray!
Unfortunately we've got a wood drop this morning for the woodburner which we need to stack up in the woodstore and then I'm at the hairdressers - eek!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend and week ahead.
Hugs
It looks like you had a wonderful week, Lisca. That's a great postcard you shared. I love Rye and I see Pumpernickel, the only other bread I could pronounce. I'm sure I've had several of those breads, but not by their German name.
I was looking through all your photos and I see you don't have to wear a mask, not once. Here it's now required. I don't go outside without one on. I wouldn't be that confident around friends, even ones I have known for years.
Looks like you got a plethora of happy mail. Lots of postcards that you will be able to share.
That ring reminds me of a scam that is going around. I didn't realize they were doing it all over the world. I'm not familiar with it, but something about you are sent a cheap piece of jewelry, then they do something and get you to endorse it. I didn't hear it all, just got a part of the scam as I was not in the room at the time the national news media was talking about it. You might want to check it out.
Love your daily scrapbook pages. I don't see how you keep up. I guess it's a bit like my daily blog posts, though, although mine are mostly art related, not personal related.
My favorite funny was the new 2020 flag. It's SO true. Hope you have a great Friday and weekend, too.
This really made me laugh, Lisca! When we were in the Asherton Tablelands in Australia we stayed in a tiny place an extra day cause they had real bread rolls!
We missed the German bread so much (it was called petit pain, but it was YUM).
Ingo can slice bread, other we have machines :-)
Yes, Kapuzinerkresse is the most common stamp these days.
Our apples (the neighbour´s of course) are still tiny, but summer pays a visit now!!
Awwww, Pizza!!!! And rain!!! Big yay for both!
:-) The first one is GREAT. Might be beer here, though!
Yes, being short is a pain at times...
To a fun weekend, hugs :-)
Hee hee you had me rocking with your funnies this week. You’ve had a full week and I hope your weekend is as good.
It’s stifling here in Lancashire after weeks of rain and wind. We’ve been put back in lockdown of sorts in that we cannot enter anyone else’s house or garden or sit at anyone else’s table other than our own household in a restaurant/cafe/pub. Big backward step but we have to do it.
Take care
Lynn xx
There is always a smile with your blog posts Lisca, and this week was no exception.
I see you had some of the rain. the thunder rumbled all around us but no rain came. We could do with some to lay the dust.
Lock-downs do seem to be creeping back. I must agree that your trip doesn't sound very likely to happen and nor does our son's visit to us. It is a shame but at least we are still healthy.
my mini-menace has just woken up so i had better go and make sure the dogs aren't eating hi, Kate x
I'm on catch up tonight as it's been a bit busy here today, hopefully the hole in kitchen ceiling will disappear tomorrow. Looks like you've had another busy week too. Loving the stamps today and the funnies are good. The ladies climbing up the shelf reminds me of my shopping in the supermarket, very familiar. The Teenagers are so typical of all the ones I used to teach for sure. Have a lovely happy weekend, Angela xXx
You had some great laughs in your funnies Lisca, loved the cat ones and yes definitely need to trim the hedge. As for the name of the cigarette vending machine.. since they’re more deadly than coronavirus in most places I think it’s a very apt name, it’s a lung clogging machine. Sad... and deadly, I’ve just been in Cardio Care unit, every questions series started with 1. Do you smoke? 2. Do you drink? As they’re the two biggest causes of heart disease. It was an eye opener.
Loved your visiting! ESP sister seeing mum... and so you’re still able to do that.
Think UK has been forced to bring in more restrictions. .. we’re getting second wave here too.
Thanks for your post I enjoyed it very much.
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. X
