A big Happy Tuesday to you! I have a weird postcard for you and of course a drink to qualify my for the T-Party hosted by Elizabeth and Bluebeard.
But first my weird postcard:
It was sent to me by Alessia, who lives in Italy. There is no description or copyright, photographer, artist or anything. It seem to me a bad photograph of a strange work of art. Not my favorite....

The tournament, organized by the International Kendo Federation (FIK), was a massive success, with Japan dominating the competition across both individual and team categories.

I have heard of kendo as a friend of mine's daughter, married a kendo practicing Spaniard some years back. I have photos of him but have not been able to ask him if he minds being in my blog so I'll show you some images from the Internet.
What is kendo? It's a traditional Japanese style of fencing with a two-handed wooden sword, derived from the fighting methods of the ancient samurai (warrior class).
The unification of Japan about 1600 removed most opportunities for actual sword combat, so the samurai turned swordsmanship into a means of cultivating discipline, patience, and skill for building character. In the 18th century, practice armour and the shinai, a sword made of bamboo, were introduced to allow realistic fencing without risk of injury. The study of what came to be known as kendo was even compulsory in Japanese schools from time to time. An All-Japan Kendo Federation was formed following the end of the occupation in 1952, and an International Kendo Federation was founded in 1970.
It is being practiced by women and men alike and there are schools all over the world.

What have I been doing these last few days?
The week has started well as I heard from the bank that they have provisionally refunded me all the monies that had been spent through my account (by thieves that cloned/hacked/somehow accessed my bank card). Hopefully that is the end of that. I have now ordered RFID protective covers (anti-data theft).
Summers here are long and very hot. I'm coping alright with the heat at the moment. I have not needed the air conditioning yet (just a ceiling fan). The temperatures have not hit 40 C yet (104 F).
All my gym and Pilates classes have stopped for the summer. But I have found two Pilates classes (air conditioned) and two aquaerobics sessions in the local swimming pool so I can keep doing something. It's too tempting to do absolutely nothing in the summer.
Of course my social life doesn't stop either. On Saturday evening I went for a drink with friends:

I'm writing this on Monday and tonight Spain is playing a match in the World championships. It's being shown on the big screen in the main square in the village.
One of my daughters-in-law has a Portuguese dad, and they will be cheering for Portugal. They sent me this:

I saw on TV that Spain beat Portugal in that soccer game. And I didn't know what kendo was, though I had heard the name. It was interesting to read about. But that is kind of a weird postcard. It looks like you've had good times last week, and hurrah for getting your money back. That is really good news. I hope you have a super week ahead and a happy T day too. hugs-Erika

The postcard reminds me of a sculpture. It is definitely unique.
One of the advantages of watching a lot of PBS is I knew what Kendo was and its history. How it went from sword fighting to bamboo sticks was fascinating. the show showed traditional clothing and mask, too. Thanks for sharing this.
What good news that your money has been restored. I'm sure that's a weight off your back.
It's been hot here, too, and I have been basking under my AC. I can't stand heat, but can definitely live with cold.

Germany is out with soccer, all flags down. I do not care and it´s all about money but I feel sorry for the real fans of the sport and the nation...

Ohhhhh Lisca I love this card!!!!! I would like the real art piece in my collection of skulls. It's so interesting about the Kendo. I would like to see the tournament in person. You are always so busy and that is a good thing. Glad you found some Pilates with AC and swimming too. Look like a nice group of friends to meet up with. Have a nice day today.
The referee hit the supposed "best" player on the US team with a red card. The rule is the player hit with a red card MUST sit the next game out. tRump was pissed. Called the head of FIFA, his buddy Infantino, who is head of FIFA He overturned the red card and Folarin Balogun was allowed to play against Belgium. Thankfully, Belgium won 4-1 and the US was sent home. You can cheat, but if you aren't good enough, it doesn't matter.

Dear Lisca, I'm amazed it's not hotter where you are than it is here. We almost hit 40 degrees Celsius last week (we had several days with temperatures up to 38 or 39 degrees). I found it awful, and our garden is completely dried out. Luckily, it's been cooler for several days now, but unfortunately, it hasn't rained where we are (though it has in the surrounding area). Like you, I don't stop exercising even in the heat – our gym is air-conditioned and has an indoor pool, and I also sometimes went Nordic walking in the cool mornings, and we've also been swimming in a pond.
The Tapas look delicious!
