A Postcard A Day - Friday 1 October 2021 - Friday Smiles

Wow, it's October already! How time flies!

I'm scheduling this post as we are on holiday this week. We will be coming home this weekend though so I might be able to do my comments on Sunday.

My postcard this Friday is this steampunk card!

It's an illustration by Brittany Fallussy from the Steampunk Sourcebook .
I looked it up and she got second prize.
The card came to me from Canada, from a small town called Moose Jaw (SK). The person that sent it to me is retired publicity/promotions and events coordinator. Apparently there is a well know literary festival in that town which she used to coordinate. Interesting.
The stamp is tiny but beautifully made.

It features the stunning coastal views of Cape Breton Island’s Cabot Trail. This is a better image:

Cape Breton is the northern part of Nova Scotia:

The Cabot Trail is an award-winning year-round road that provides visitors with easy access to activities ranging from hiking, cycling and golfing to swimming, whale watching and sea kayaking. Almost 300 kilometres in length, the route loops around the northern part of the island, offering stunning coastal views and rugged highland panoramas.

What a beautiful place! I would love to go there, but I have been to Canada before and even in summer it can be really cold! Here are some more photos I found on the internet:

We are camping at the moment with our tent (as we no longer have a motorhome) in a natural park not far from where we live called Cabo de Gata. It is miles of unspoilt beaches and beautiful natural scenery. We have been several times and we love it.

I posted some photos of the area on Tuesday and here are some photos of the camp site (from the internet):

That is it from me today. I will post some funnies of course at the end. But for now all my love to all you lovely ladies.

Stay safe,

 and keep smiling.

Hugs,

Lisca

That's a beautiful postcard. I also enjoyed the stamp, which was from a different part of the country. Sounds like you are enjoying your time away. I love the area and the palm trees, of course.

I liked the Viagra joke. I laughed and laughed at that one. I'm not sure where Birkenhead is, so that may have been lost on me, but I thought it was funny, anyway. I didn't get the last one at all. When I think of Gregg, I think of very old shorthand books I use in my art. Guess I am not up on the latest and greatest.

I have been following your holiday on Facebook. It does look a lovely camp site and of course it is beautiful coastline. Even the weather has been quite kind I think. It has been mostly good here all week.
I'm not so keen on this week's postcard as I never did see the appeal of steampunk, but the pictures of Canada are beautiful. I hope you find all is as it should be when you return home. Kate x

Hi Lisca, sorry I'm late. Dog walking, gardening and Vet's today so only just got back in the house. I knew I'd seen that postcard before because I have the book. Pleased to hear you're having a good time away and lovely the funnies. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
