A Postcard A Day - Friday 10 January 2020 - Friday Smiles

Hello lovely peeps,
Here I am again. We got back from the Netherlands yesterday evening and I am writing this at midnight as usual, but it will be a short one as I am tired and really want to go to bed.
No postcards this time as I am not really organised, but I do have some photos  from our trip.

First off is a lovely Dutch 'appeltaart'. It is a traditional recipe that my mum taught me, but she herself cannot bake as she is nearly blind, so I promised I'd bake her one. So here it is and that was a huge smile from everyone present. (My cousin and his family visited)
We flew back from Rotterdam airport. It is a smallish airport and they are refurbishing the terminal. So we had to use a temporary set-up.
It was basic but comfortable.
No tunnel this time to walk through, but a short walk to the aircraft. That makes a nice change.
We arrived at Alicante airport on wednesday afternoon and got a taxi to Elche, where I had booked a hotel.
As soon as we had 'dumped' our suitcases, we walked to the bus station to buy our bus tickets for the next day. The trees in Elche are spectacular! Lots of palm trees and these cacti the size of trees.
I have never seen so many palm trees in my life. These are date palms. I read somewhere that they are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wikipedia writes this:
The Palmeral or Palm Grove of Elche is the generic name used to designate a system of date palm orchards in the city of Elche (Spain).
Currently, in the urban area of Elche there are a total of 97 different orchards containing about 70,000 date palms. This number does not include other large plantations located around the city proper. All together, the number may be close to 200,000 palms. The Palm Grove covers over 3.5 km2 (1.4 sq mi), including 1.5 km2 (0.58 sq mi) within the city of Elche.
It is the only palm grove of its type anywhere in Europe, the northernmost of its kind and one of the largest in the world, surpassed in size only by some in Arab countries.

Those were my smiles for this Friday.Of course I will add a few funnies at the bottom.
Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend,
Keep smiling!
Hugs,
Lisca

I'm really late doing the rounds of my visits today but as they say it's better late than never eh?
Lovely to see you are safely home and to hear you had a lovely time with your mum.
I double checked....Lapin is French for rabbit. Lievre is French for hare.
Hugs,
Annie x

So glad you are finally home, but you know I'm obsessing over all those date palms. What an amazing adventure. I would have stayed for days, I fear. LOVED the tart. You did good and I know your mother was pleased.

Had a laugh at the funnies, especially Denise and the bread. Have a super rest of Friday and a brilliant weekend, too. I bet you are glad to be able to sleep in your own bed again, dear Lisca.

Hi everyone, I saw comments from people who had already got their loan from Anderson Loan Finance. Honestly, I thought it was a scam, and then I decided to make a request based on their recommendations. A few days ago, I confirmed in my personal bank account amounting to 9,000 euros, which I asked for business. This is really good news and I am so happy that I advise all those who need a real loan and who are sure to reimburse to apply through their email (text or call) +1 315-329-6320 There are sincere loan lenders!

Note: This is for Americans only !

They are able to thank you for your loan.
