A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 24 Oct 2017 - T for green wine, board games and postcards

Hello lovely peeps,
How are you all? Here things are slowly getting back to normal... well, perhaps not quite as I have my bestie from Holland (and her partner) staying with us. It's lovely having them around, but I'm still not back into my routine.

My friend had been to Portugal. She goes there every autumn for the autumn bridge drives. They spend three weeks playing bridge! Then on the way back to Holland, they drive via Spain and come to see us. She knows I love Vinho Verde (lit: 'Green wine'), a Portugese White wine. And bless her, she brought me 12 bottles of the stuff!
As it is T-Day today , I will be linking up with Elizabeth and Bluebeard to show a drink related subject (hence the wine). I hope you will join us. (doesn't have to be wine).

I wish you could hear what I can hear at the moment. As it is nice sunny weather, I have the doors open to the terrace. There is a large flock of sheep (or goats) passing by below and every animal has a bell. They are all different tones and it is such sweet music to hear them walk past.

Now for my postcards: I haven't received any cards yet as I have recently switched myself on 'active' again, but I have certainly been sending a few from here. Here are a few I have been sending:

The person I sent the above card to, wrote that she loved the artwork of Alfons Mucha. I happened to like that as well and have quite a collection of postcards with his art.

Baza is our nearest town and this card features the main church seen from a side Street. In front of the church (to the left of the tower) is a large public square. It's all quite quaint and old. Baza is 10 minutes drive from here and it is the place where we do our shopping.

I sent this card to a couple that lives in Brooklyn. They had a list of favorite cards that they would like to receive and this was one of them. I happen to have this card. (I have a large collection of 'New Yorker' cards). I don't now what this cat is thinking but he/she does not look very happy....

At the moment we are waiting for the plasterer to come and assess the job we have for him. Hopefully his quote will be reasonable and he can start soon. We are finishing the bottom flat. The carpenter is finishing the kitchen cabinets and I should really be looking at cookers. I have chosen a granite worktop and some neutral Wall tiles. (It's a light oak kitchen).

We are planning to spend Christmas in Holland with my mum. And hopefully it will all be ready then. (Pigs might fly...)

That is it from me today. Tonight we have planned a games night (as there are four of us) and I am greatly looking forward to that. We will be playing Yatzee,

Rummicup,

Chronology,

and a game with letter dice.

I also have a new game called Ligretto,

which we will have to learn to play together.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Wishing you all a happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

  1. great looking postcards-you must have some collection!
I can just hear all those bells ringing-mmmm...to live in the countryside somewhere in Europe...
How generous of your friend to bring you the wine-especially if it's not something you can readliy get yourself.
Sounds like such a fun game night!! Only one I'm familiar with tho is Yahtzee. Enjoy and happy T day!

  2. How nice to have a games night planned, I love Yahtzee, it's always a fun game. I can imagine how nice it sounds when the bells of the sheep and goats and sounding, they don't do that here. Enjoy your wine, not all at once, you have a wonderful supply there! Have a happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  3. That's a LOT of wine, Lisca. I bet we see it at T on occasion, too.

You certainly take a lot of time and caring when you send your postcards. I bet people love trading with you. I really loved the skulking cat. Of course, any cat will do in my opinion.

To be honest, I've only seen a few sheep at the state fair, but never in town. I can't possibly imagine them running through the streets of the biggest city in Kansas! There would be pandemonium, bells or no bells! What a joy that must have been for you.

I LOVE playing Yahtzee, but I've never had much luck with the dice. Someone sent me a few of those Rummikub tiles, but never knew what they went to. I just knew I liked the tiles, so used them in my art. Good luck with the new game. I read the rules and they looked complicated. But I guess as long as you can count, you are ok! The letter game reminds me of Boggle.

Thanks for sharing your postcards, your games, and your wine with us for T this Tuesday. Sounds like you had a great week, and hope you get a good estimate on the plaster bid.

  12. oh, game night sounds so fun! your description of the sheep passing by is so sweet...can almost hear them. at the moment here in Ohio, USA we are hearing sprinkles of rain on the roof. ;) You see your surname in my journal, as it is the name of a U.S. discount store in our area. It is pronounced My-er. How is your name pronounced? Anyway, we often drive to/meet in their very large parking lot, and then we can carpool on to our destination.
    happy T day!

  13. Rummicub is one of the best games! I've never heard of that kind of wine. Sounds interesting. Thank you for this: "There is a large flock of sheep (or goats) passing by below and every animal has a bell. They are all different tones and it is such sweet music to hear them walk past" because you describe it so well I can hear it and what a sweet sound it is :)

    Happy T Tuesday

  17. The Alfons Mucha postcard is lovely, Lisca. The New Yorker cat looks like he didn't want his picture taken - lol.

Good luck with the kitchen renovation. We spent last Christmas without a tree because workers were repairing the roof ;-( Bummer!

    Happy T-Day!! Hugs, Eileen
