A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 28 March - T for European history, campervan and Riesling

Hello lovely people, How are you all? Thank you for visiting me today.

We've been away for a few days and I have some photos to show you as well as my usual postcard from some faraway country.

I received several cards this week. Which one shall I share with you?

This card comes from Russia, from someone called Zoya who lives in St Petersburg. The image is a caricature of European politics in 1899. I wish I could remember my European history. The image is supposed to be funny. She used some really beautiful stamps which unfortunately, I forgot to scan...

So, last week my husband asked what i wanted to do for my birthday. I suggested we go away, so we did. We went to an area we hadn't been to before, and found a campervan parking

in a village called Canjayar, in the Almerian Alpujarras.

Here is the village in the distance. It was very pretty and it had all sorts of info on the village history displayed on tiles on the walls of the streets:

There was a public washing facility:
Can you imagine the natter and the gossip!

I'm so thankful for washing machines after seeing this!

My lovely hubby spoils me and on the first day he cooked a fantastic "Full English Breakfast" for lunch. (I can't face this first thing in the morning).

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, eating, sitting, drink, indoor and food
There's bacon and eggs, baked beans and whole tomatoes. Of course with toasted bread.

We do this only when we are on holiday and it is a real treat! In this case we had a bottle of dry Riesling set aside for the occasion.

I suppose this qualifies me for the T-Party hosted by Elizabeth and Bluebeard. Please join us if you can with a post that has something drink related in it. (doesn't have to be tea or coffee)

I'm going to leave it at that and next week I will post more photos.

Happy T-Day all,
Hugs,
Lisca

  1. What fun exploring. That breakfast...err...lunch looks yummy! I'm not sure I've ever had a dry riesling...or made it was and I just didn't know. I don't venture too far out of my usual bottles of wine to know. :)
    Happy T day!

  3. What a nice place to go for your birthday. I hope it was wonderful. (I love seeing all these places you get to go. Lucky you!) I can see why you couldn't eat that all first thing in the morning-what a huge amount of food-but it sure looks yummy.

  5. Looks like you had a really nice memorable getaway for your birthday Lisa!
And what a great guy you have there.
    Making me thirsty ;-)
Hope you are still celebrating your beautiful life ❤
Those early washing machines are quite something and so many of them.
I must confess I often enjoy postage stamps as much as postcards. They can be mini works of art. Interesting postcard...thanks for sharing.
Happy T Day to you oxo

  6. Once again, happy belated birthday. I stopped by Friday, so hope you saw. Your meal looks wonderful and very healthy, too. Much better that what I had to eat today.

I really enjoyed your trip and got a laugh at the washing machines you shared. Not something I would ever use, but fun to see what used to be.

I was hoping the post card enlarged, but it didn't so I had trouble seeing it. I DID recognize Italy and America, but that was all. So glad you shared it, though.

Thanks for sharing your birthday "breakfast" (thanks to your awesome husband) and your trip to Canjayar with us for T this Tuesday. Again, happy belated birthday.

  7. I found a way to enlarge your page, and I was wrong. What I thought was America was actually England. Had I read the part about Europe, I would have not been embarrassed, as I am now!

    1. I was just thinking of how to enlarge it when I read your second comment. Don't be embarrassed, it's very difficult to see. I wish I had more info on it. I have been looking everywhere and can't find anything. I guess I have to dive into my history books....

  9. Terrific postcard and a great place to eat an full English Breakfast I reckon. I once went into those mountains on a flat green bowling holiday. It seemed a strange place to build somewhere so British but it was very enjoyable

Have a very Happy T Day

    Love Chrissie xx

  11. Wow! The views look amazing! Love seeing the old wash house! We sometimes choose an all day breakfast option when we eat out at lunchtime - not an everyday thing for sure!!! Happy T Day! Chrisx

  14. Happy Birthday a little late. Your lunch looks great. I like a man who cooks. Imagine doing your wash in that facility. I suppose it was quite the thing when it was built though. Another great postcard. I don't know a thing about the history but I like the graphics.

  18. I'm so glad you've enjoyed your birthday treat of going away, the landscape looks amazing. I remember troughs like this in my aunty's home, when I was a kid. Good old cement troughs made GREAT watering places for our pigs and cows, too!!! Never seen a communal one. LOVING the full English brekky. Can't go past it, in my opinion!!!
