A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 7 Feb 2017 - T for maxi cards, Indian food and kiss&ride

While I was away in Holland I received many postcards and I can't really decide which one I'm going to show you....
I think this is my favorite:
This is what is called a Maxi card. It comes from Sweden and would you believe it, it has a stamp on the front (as well as on the address side of course). The picture is of a door of the first Swedish mail carriage of 1854. The stamp features the inside of a mail carriage from the 20th century. That stamp is a real stamp (not a picture of a stamp) and the date of issue is 29 Aug 1986.
On the back are current stamps:
The stamp on the left features a plant called Tussilago farfara, a 'weed' common throughout Europe. It is known in English as coltsfoot (auf deutsch: Huflattich). The bigger stamp represents "1000 years of church art" and was issued in May 2014 as part of a series of the same name.

Now for some more photos of Holland. It is not difficult to find photos with drinks in them. When I look through my photos it looks like I'm a drunkard as I'm always with a wine glass in my hand lol! (Yes, I do like to drink a glass of wine with every meal).

My cousin drove us to Rotterdam airport, which is a small local airport. We love it.

Here is my sister (L) and my cousin (R) at the airport.
The drop off areas in Holland are called 'Kiss & Ride' (a play on words from the English expression 'Park & Ride' where you park you car outside town and a bus takes you from the car park into town and back). The Kiss & Ride just means you unload your passenger, you may kiss your passenger, but then you have to move on.

Anyone who is fond of Indian curry can understand how desperate one can get if one lives in an area where Indian food is not found. I do like to make my own curries and have been able to accumulate a sorts of lovely spices and herbs used in Indian cooking. But nothing beats going out to dinner and letting someone else do the cooking.
When we arrived in Malaga, we stayed at my sister's house in Elviria (near Marbella). They have an Indian restaurant within walking distance (I am just a teensy weensy bit envious!).
We went out for dinner and had a really good meal. I hadn't been out for a curry in years!
Here is my hubby serving himself. (and nearly knocking over the glass of wine!) Speaking of which.... I am going to link up with Elizabeth and Bleubeard at Altered Book Lover for T for Tuesday. Feel free to join us, as long as your blog post has a drink in it.
Me and my little sister enjoying our curry and just pausing to pose.

That's it for today. Have a good week everyone,

Happy T-day,

Hugs,

Lisca

  1. oh what a lovely time all around! Hubby and I love wine with meals too ( must be a European thing-I'm not French for nothing-lol:)And I also love Indian food but make it for myself only as hubby and son won't go near it. Such health benefits with the spices though! Love the "kiss and ride" and what a super postcard-you must receive an awful lot of good ones! Happy T day, and "salut"!

  2. It sounds like your travels to Holland were good, and it sounds like a wonderful start to your home arrival with Indian curry. My husband doesn't like Indian food so we never go out for it, and its been years sine I've had any. It sure looks good. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  3. It's been years since I've had Indian food. And years since I've had curry. It looks wonderful. I didn't originally notice that your husband was about to knock over his wine, so laughed when I finally focused on it. I was too busy looking at the beautiful food.

Your sister is as beautiful as you. I think the kiss and ride is a fantastic idea. I really enjoyed seeing it and your explaining it to us.

Thanks for taking us on this journey to Holland and to the Indian restaurant for T this Tuesday. I am not a wine drinker, but it always looks good on you.

BTW, that post card is incredible. Very impressive.

  5. Wonderful post. I love the idea of a kiss and fly place, great idea! Your food always looks great. For years we had no Indian restaurants in my town, and had to go to Holland to find them, but in the meantime we have everything here to suit every taste. Thanks for sharing your lovely postcard, food and drinks, and happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  13. Your blog should be called "The Adventures of Lisca." You share such fascinating information about your travels and such. That's a lovely photo of you and your sis. I giggled at the "Kiss & Ride" sign. I can really relate to missing the tastes of "home." For me it's Chinese food and cold water lobster. Glad you had a good visit with family and got your fill of curry to last a while ;-) Happy T Day! Hugs, Eileen
