WOYWW 331 Chaos is complete!

Hi Folks! I'm back again. We've been away.

DD plus a grandson had come to stay and we had a hectic but great time.  We took them back to Malaga airport last Tuesday (a 3 hour drive). While we were on the coast, we thought we'd visit a few large stores that we haven't got near us. (like Ikea and Leroy Merlin etc). Then went to see my sister near Marbella. They have just moved into a new apartment so I hadn't expected to stay, but she had the guest room ready and she insisted so we stayed and had a lovely time.

Now we have returned to the chaos that is our 'house'. You are waiting to see my desk.... here it is:
As you can see, there is nothing going on on my desk, but there is a bed in the office! Yes, our bedroom in the old cave house was getting really bad. The ceiling is un-rendered and we keep getting sand and earth flaking on the bed. It was getting so bad (and I got so fed up) that we made the decision to test drive the new bed-sofa that we bought (locally) last week:
It's now in the 'studio' and we are sleeping on it. (and very comfortable it is too).

We did spend quite a lot of money at Ikea (as you do) and I have finally bought the famous trolley! In fact my husband made me buy two! He reckons I would like it so much I would want another one and he wasn't going to drive several hundred miles to get it.
All the mess and the chaos has been  getting to me a bit lately and I have been finding it difficult to give thanks. I have been taught to give thanks in every circumstance but that is difficult sometimes.
The other day I was sent this on Facebook:
That's put me in my place! I've made a similar list (adapted to my circumstances) and I've stopped moaning and I thank the Lord!

Thanks for visiting, and if you are wondering what all this desk watching is all about, visit Julia's blog and all will be revealed.

Have a good week,

blessings,

Lisca

Hello there. You have been having some lovely times despite the mess and chaos. I know we do have lots to be thankful for and I can very much relate to the list but sometimes it can all get to us! I have 'the trolley' jolly useful. Have a great week. Anne x #16

Oh IKEA, I do love a good rummage around but I don't get there very often, the trolley is great, just perfect for craft storage.
I like that idea for being positive Lisca.

A thought provoking list!
Great shopping at Ikea - same colour as mine. Hope you keep yours tidier than I do my trolley - was saying about half an hour ago I needed to tidy it up.
How soon do you think you will be moving out of the cave? Sounds to be getting closer.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

I really love your list...it sure makes us look at life rather idfferently doesn't it? So much to be thankful for eh? I love your new Ikea trolley....I was very tempted to get one too but need to sort out what I've got and what spaces I've already got to put it in first :-) Thankfully we are less than an hour from our nearest Ikea :-) My sewing room is full of it hehehe.

You have a keeper there if he knows how much we need stuff to organise all our stuff. A lovely catch up post. I hope you get your bedroom sorted soon so that your life can get back to normal. I love your gratitude list...I need one of those to remind me to be grateful in all things too.

Your hubby is right, you will need more than one. I have 2 of the exact carts, and I love them. Happy crafting #33

Hi Lisca! All I can say is that your husband is a very wise man, LOL! Love your trolley, and it's great that you got two! As soon as I get a serviceable studio, I'm gonna get one as well. I can see how it can be useful, putting all your bits and bobs on it. Would be great for my paints! Love your list - most of it is true for me. Have a lovely week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #29

That´s a great list, I am doing one right now for myself. I am a little sad that sleeping in a cave isn´t working out for you, that sounds so special...

Lisca said...

Don't worry, the cave will be renovated as soon as we have somewhere decent to sleep. (In the new year probably we'll start on the cave)

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time. Shame about the upheaval at home. I understand how it would get you down but that list is a great idea for putting things into perspective. I must try it. Happy WOYWW!

Hi Lisca great to hear your memories of Bath. Sorry to hear that the mess at home is getting you down. Being positive is important but don't ignore the fact that a good rant can get something off your chest for the better! You don't have to be Pollyanna all the time. Sometimes it takes being fed up to provoke you to do something about a situation! Hope you feel perked up again soon! Ali #7

Lisca said...

Yes, I feel better now Ali, thank you. Rant over... and as you say, that helps.

Hi Lisca, just keep thinking how brilliant it will be when it's finished, still your short escape was good and your husband obviously knows you too well. What a sensible man he is. Have a lovely woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 19

Ah... the famous IKEA trolley cart! I have a version from somewhere else and lately its one wheel gets stuck. One of these days I'm going to have to flip it over and see what might be tangled in the wheel (either my or cat hair is my guess). That sounds like work though. I can't imagine getting sand and grit in my bed all the time. What a hassle. I pull up the covers in the morning to keep the cat sand off but hubby doesn't always so it eventually works its way to my side. Judy #48

Your trolley is FAB! We have an IKEA about 140 miles from us but I have only been there once with friends. Love the list you got from FB. As to the sand and stuff in your bed... ugh. We get weeds from our cat. Happy WOYWW!

Well done Lisca; we all get into the frame of mind where we can't see the joy...it doesn't take much; that list popped up in my feed on Facebook and was a good reminder indeed. I'm very glad the sofa bed is comfortable, it's lovely. We spent years letting guests sleep on ours but last year decided it wasn't suitble for my parents so we slept on it. And then we got rid of it. It was uncomfortable and I am still embarrased that we let our guests put up with it!.
Your husbnad was generous and very probably correct about the trolley. It is fab and yeah, a 3 hour drive to the coast to get one would be a bit too much. YOu can always use the second elsewhere in the house if you can't fill two!!

I've never seen those Ikea trolleys before - I think it's fabulous and I'm thinking about how I could use one in my chaotic life! I had the same list on my Facebook the other day and it made me stop and think about all the things that stress me out and get me complaining - I soon stopped and have been putting things back in perspective - we all need a reminder now and again! Hope you have a great week,

What a great post, Lisca! I just LOVE the count your blessings list!! This is so good! It's so easy to find ourselves in moaning mode, isn't it, but with a little bit of effort you can turn every situation around and find something good in it! I have been trying to do this all year throughout my cancer journey and I have soooo much to be thankful for! Your desk looks lovely and busy this week, and it sounds as if you've had a good time with the family too.

Thank you for your lovely comment - sorry you also had printer woes! I shall be feeling a lot better in a day or two, I am sure - I did manage to finish last month's accounts today, which has given me a bit of a boost! I hate that stuff hanging over me...

Happy belated WOYWW,

Hello and Happy T Day late, sorry. LOVE LOVE that list, what a great way to look at everyday stuff. I do write a thankful list as much as I can, after reading the book 1,000 Gifts. Feeling thankful for the little things keeps me sane and happy. Thanks so much for posting it, really liked seeing it this way. Have a good week!

The same photo of that list appeared on my FB timeline too, and it had ME thinking and being grateful too. Isn't it wonderful, how things like that can shift your mind... I LOVE the trolley (and its colour!) Have fun with that dear! Thanks for your visit earlier this week, happy (belated) woyww and a hug from Holland! Marit #14

I just love your Ikea trolley! I've had my eye on that trolley! Such a lovely color. We don't have Ikea here in the Philippines and every time I visit one abroad, I don't have enough luggage allowance to bring home such a heavy trolley.
Happy WOYWW and thank you so much for already dropping by!
