A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 16 February 2021 - T for breakfasts, coffee and hospitals.

Good morning lovely ladies, Here we are again on Tuesday. This week has flown by, more so as it has been an emotional week for me. More about that later.

Let me show you my postcard for today:

It is a photograph by Stephen Shore (American, born in 1947). And the photo is entitled 'Breakfast, Trail's End restaurant, Kanab, Utah, August 10, 1973. It can be found in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
I found out that the restaurant still exists. It's now called Houston's Trail End restaurant.

And this is what it looked like in the 50s:

And here is another postcard (not my postcard, got it from the internet)

Anyway, the postcard I received Was sent to me by Kelsey in Washington DC. She has written my name beautifully:

The stamps are awesome:

And she added some fun stickers plus some washi tape.

It made me feel very special.

Now as it is T for Tuesday, Elizabeth and Bleubeard are organizing the T-Party. Any image with a beverage will be accepted to participate.
Now Elizabeth has a nasty infection and is not really allowed to spend much time at her computer. Wishing you all the best Elizabeth! Get well soon!

I am a member of the local photoclub and this month the challenge was 'Coffee'. Here below you can see my entry. The background is a real coffee sack from Columbia, and the coffee maker in the centre is an old espresso coffee maker with two enamel cups. I scattered some of hubby's coffee beans and hey presto! (This photo will qualify me for Elizabeth's T-Party). I hope it gets good points from the Photo club judges.

Here I am photographing the scene with the help of our friend Andy.

I mentioned that it was an emotional week for me. In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, my husband became so ill that I bundled him into the car and drove to the hospital in the middle of the night. He had all sorts of test during the night and by morning we had a diagnosis: peritonitis caused by diverticuli. He has been admitted and has to have antibiotics IV for a week.

I am not allowed to be with him (No visits allowed at all) but as you can see he is in good spirits and we communicate through FaceTime. Today (Tuesday) he is having some more investigations, so we'll see what that throws up.

Then of course there was the sad news of the passing of Shaz Brooks (Silverwolfcards). Many of you will know her. She has been battling cancer for a few years now, always supported by her loving husband Doug. The craft world will miss her.

So I have been on my own this week. I have to do hubby's chores around the house, like getting wood and lighting the fire:
The wood shed:

And feeding the cat twice a day. She doesn't come into the house but lives in the 'shed' and roams where she wants (she has been neutered so she can roam without repercussions):
She's a calico cat.
I usually wake up to this. (View from our bedroom window)
Then I might have something like this:
Then I might go walking with my friend and then have a cup of tea with her.

I go shopping for one at our local grocery shop. (It just happened to be empty so I quickly took a photo)

But I do still cook nice meals:
Which I usually have out on the terrace as it's been nice weather.

That's it from me.
Stay safe,
Have a very lovely T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

I'm SO sorry to read about your husband, dear Lisca, but am glad they finally know why your husband has been in so much pain since before Christmas. So glad to see he is doing better and has good spirits. He even looks happy. It's too bad you can't visit him, but I certainly understand it.

That's a really unique postcard. I like how you followed through showing how the cafe was then and now.

You have had a lot of chores this week and I can't believe how you fix all those meals just for yourself. I guess I'm too lazy to make such wholesome meals for myself every day.

I LOVE your photo club photo. I hope it wins. It's a beauty. Thanks for sharing your postcard, your meals, your husband's condition, and your photo club entry with us for T this Tuesday.

The good news is that the hubby's diagnosis sounds treatable, and hopefully will be easily taken care of-at least the peritonitis. I remember being home alone when my husband was in the hospital being diagnosed with his kidney failure and having to pick up all the chores. The house was so quiet and we had so much snow then too. Hopefully he will get home sooner rather than later. I hope he is, and you stay well. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

I wish your husband a quick recovery and soon return from the hospital. That sounds like a very frightening experience, especially since it's been so many weeks that he has been feeling ill.

What a wonderful card you got!
Fun photo-session!

This is so ... I have no words.
It does not help to be separated!!!! I´m so sorry. Best wishes your Hubby recovers, and quickly. Don´t want to imagine if mine gets sick again and I cannot visit. Terrible thought.

Yum food :-) At least you can eat. Hugs from here. And very best wishes.

So sorry to learn of your husband's illness-good that you took him to the hospital right away-prayers for you both.
Lovely postcards and stamps, I love calico cats we had ours for over 20 years and they are very independent ours did not want to live in the house but she was very loving.
I wish we had a working woodstove here at the lake to add warmth to the house-we are in a very deep freeze here-going on the second week.
Glad you are taking care of you too hugs from the lake Kathy

Lisca I'm so sorry to hear about your husband but thankfully you took him to the hospital, sad that you can't visit but good to see he is still smiling.
We share jobs too, I usually clean the log fire but DH brings the logs in, Kindling and takes out the ash so I have to be more organised if he's ill.
I love the postcards and stamps and lovely writing too.
Keep safe and take care while DH is away

The pancake picture is perfect for today :) Great coffee photo! I've never seen a coffee maker like that one, and I love those little enamel cups. Your meat/potato/carrot dish looks delicious, and that view from your terrace is delightful :)

I hope your husband gets good treatment that fixes him up right as rain. He looks like his good spirits will aid recovery.

Happy T Tuesday!

No wonder your husband has had so much pain for so long! It sounds like you got him to the hospital just in time. He looks to be in good spirits; but he always look like that. I wish him a speedy recovery and big sighs of relief for you. Not being able to visit is awful!

Very cool postcard and a nice slice of Americana. Not many restaurants last that long. I love how you showed how it changed through the years.

I love your coffee photo! I think it's a winner!!

Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

Your meal looks SO delicious and what a view! Many people travel for a view like that.
That is great that you have been keeping busy while your hubby is recovering. I am so glad to hear that they finally made a diagnosis. I have been praying for him and the Dr.'s all week. What a answer to prayer. Now, to get him back home at 100%. That is great that he is still able to see your face even if it is just through a screen.
That restaurant in your postcard is so pretty! At least in the '50's. I think it looks better then then now.
That tiger stamp is great! My daughter would love it. She has an imaginary tiger friend that lives under her bed. ;)
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Ohh I am so sorry about your husband. It looks like he is being well cared for. As for the Houston's Trail End restaurant I have eaten there many times. When Mr. M. and I lived in N. Idaho we would travel through Kanab and always stop to eat there. Great food! All of your photos look wonderful The food especially the eggs make me hungry. Sending healing energy to your husband.

Oh Lisca! What a trauma in the middle of the night! Glad to see that he looks happy enough in hospital and will be home soon! Your postcard and that restaurant along with the goodies are a real treat! I love your photograph and how you set it up - that light on it looks fabulous! Yes, it is really sad news about Shaz, hubby and I will miss her and our hearts go out to Doug! They were such lovely couple. Take care doing those extra chores. Great to see that you are still preparing yummy looking meals for yourself. Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
