The translation of the above text goes like this: 'There are always flowers in the world for those who have a garden in their soul'. (and also coffee by the looks of it)
Good morning lovely ladies,
How are you all?
I am fine and I have selected some postcards that have arrived recently and I would like to show you these two. This first one comes from Russia, and shows the interior of the Arbatskaya Metro Station in Moscow.
Isn't it beautiful? It was opened on May 15, 1935 it says on the back. Here is another photo that I found on the internet:
And this is the outside:
The next card was sent to me by Alexa who lives in Naperville, Illinois. The image on the card is beautiful, but there is no info whatsoever about the artist. That's a shame.
The stamps are beautiful too. The one on the left is very clearly Lincoln, and the middle one features Illinois! I can't read what the right-hand stamp is about. Can someone from USA tell me please?I've been taking a lot of pictures lately in our village. Just going to the baker's and buying a stick of bread can be an interesting photo. I have my phone in my pocket when I go out, se here goes:
The bakery is run by a mother and her three daughters. This is mum.
The shop was empty (that doesn't happen very often) so I could take pictures.
These little cookies are called Roscos.
In a recent blog post I showed this photo of the municipal Christmas tree by day. Not very impressive.
But by night it is all lit up.
We also have the odd illumination in the street.
Of course I had to pose by the tree....
This got me all in the mood for Christmas and at the eleventh hour I decided to make some cards.
I scanned some postcards I had and used them as the image on these cards.
Here is a cheeky French postman. It was surprisingly time consuming to pull off the top layer of the cardboard. I had to use a knife to scratch it off. But I am very pleased with the results (And I hope the recipients will be too).
Here I am with my Radler beer and a tapa (in this case a small dish of paella rice).
That is it from me today.
Wishing you all a very happy T-Day,
Take care,
Hugs,
Lisca

beautiful postcards Lisca. And oh that bakery is filled with tempting treats! Love your cards with those vintage images! Happy T day!
I sadly just had to let go of my avocado mini-tree. Maybe the garden in my soul is gone?
A beautiful train station indeed!
Your bakery looks like you did a time-warp, amazing.
I am thankful for Christmas lights!
And that cheeky mailmen, awww.
Hm, a Radler. Too cold for that here ;-)
Happy T-Day to you, and hugs!
Beautiful postcards, and I love your home made cards. Your village looks beautiful, great to see the photos. Love the bakery. Have a wonderful week, happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
Lovely postcard Lisca, the station looks so spacious, maybe because of all the white. Your home made cards look lovely I liked the cheeky postman.
The photos of the tree were lovely, much better with all its lights on. A big smile at the bakery photos, it must have delicious aromas and be a real meeting place for the shoppers.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
I love seeing those views of your walk around. It is very pretty and the bakery is really interesting. I love seeing how things vary and how they are the same-at different places that is. And such beautiful Christmas cards too. I hope yo have a super T day Lisca. Hugs-Erika
What a wonderful post and beautiful photographs.
Hugs June x
I'm loving those postcards! The metro station is Moscow looks amazing, doesn't it and your lady is so pretty too 😀. I enjoyed visiting the bakery with you and looking at the Christmas lights - perfect! Those cheeky postman cards made me smile too! Wishing you a very happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
Hi Lisca, yes I am all set to try calligraphy now-ordered a couple books, the pens, ink, paper-will try it after the holidays
Visiting that bakery would be a real treat. The daytime tree looks spare and structural, and I kinda like it, but the night-time view of it lit is stunning! And you posing beside it shows how huge it is. Wow! Happy T Tuesday :)
Wow, the subway stations in Boston are not that fancy. Some of them none too clean, either. Fun postcards. That last stamp is the USPS Post Office Mural Stamps. Back in the 1930s and 40s. some post offices had art/murals in the lobby. These stamps are an homage to that time and some of the post office that had unique murals.
Mmm, I can smell the bread baking and the cookies! Your bakery reminds me of the bakery I used to go to as a little girl to buy bread for my grandma when I visited. The town tree and your lovely Christmas cards are putting me in the Christmas spirit. Happy T Day!
Great postcards and photos Lisca. But it looks cold there, with you all bundled up. That Christmas tree is a little too modern for my taste, but it still looks lovely, as most / all Christmas decorations do. Happy T-Day!
Just stopping by to let you know I’m back online. Both my internet AND my phone were down. I walked to my foodie friend Sally’s to use her phone to call the phone company and Sharon who graciously left the message you saw at T time.
I complained to the phone company that my internet often goes down on Mondays. I bet Sharon is getting tired of hearing from me on Monday afternoons. I asked the repair person what the problem was and he said “a line down the block had broken,” and after he repaired it, he came here and reset my phone AND internet lines. This was the greatest early Christmas gift I could have received. Yes, I’m doing a happy dance.
I can’t possibly catch up with you at the moment, but I am simply grateful that you chose to visit and spend T time with me today. Thank you for that.
LOVE those Christmas cards. I also KNOW how long it takes to scrape cardboard. Thanks for sharing your drink and postcards, too for T this Tuesday, dear.
Thanks for sharing the lovely photos. Sorry I wasn't on time this week. Have a nice rest of the day.
What a great opening graphic, Lisca ... especially since it includes a drink reference.
Arbatskaya Metro Station in Moscow looked beautiful in 1935. It looks quite different now. Times change. Some European countries do an amazing job of preserving history. I admire that; but is costs a pretty penny that other countries can't afford.
Re the US Post Office Murals Forever Stamps: "In the 1930s and 1940s, murals brought a touch of beauty to Post Office locations across the United States. In 2019, the U.S. Postal Service celebrates these works of art, which were designed to help boost the morale of Americans during the Great Depression."
I guess that's another way to honor a country's history.
The tree and you are very impressive lit up like that ;-) And your cards are wonderful. I love how you mixed the old images with corrugated cardboard (and used some of your postcard stash).
Feliz Navidad and Happy T-day! Eileen xx
