A Postcard A Day - Tuesday 24 April 2018 - T for eastern beauty, canyons and picnics.

Good Morning peeps, How are you all? Ready to face another Tuesday?

I have a nice postcard to show you that arrived two days ago from Russia.
It is called 'Eastern Beauty' by Delapoer Downing (1853-1926). I can't find much info on the artist other than that he/she was British, possibly Irish.

The stamps are beautiful, as you can see:

The stamp on the right represents the 200th Anniversary of the Establishment of the sign of the Military Order of St George the Triumphant. The one on the left is actually about Postcrossing. This is what I do with postcards. (Have a look at www.postcrossing.com)

Last week Number 1 daughter came to visit, on her own without the family. She had lots of quality time with us.

One of the places we visited with her was Castril, where there is a river and a walkway above it, through a small 'canyon'.
Because of all the rain we have had, the river was the highest and the fullest I have ever seen it. The noise of the roaring waterfall was deafening!

At the end of the wooden walkway was a wobbly bridge.

Daughter was determined to get close to the river and climbed down these rocks. (to my great dismay. I was glad when she had safely climbed back.)
As today is T for Tuesday, I am going to link up with Elizabeth and Bluebeard at Altered Book Lover, to show a drink. Well, here it is on the table, a bottle of water. (There is also a bottle of iced tea on the left):
We went on a picnic to the reservoir on Sunday, as it was the only nice day of the week. The lake really is this turquoise colour.
I had made this savoury 'cake' with ham and cheese in it.

Everybody had brought something nice.
The typical Spanish dish is of course the Spanish tortilla (tortilla de patatas pronounced tor-tee-ya  day pah-tah-tas). One of my friends made the one below.
That is it from me today. I wih you all a very happy T-Day.

Take care,
Lisca

  1. What a beautiful postcard. I love the simple sweetness and softness of it. Gorgeous views of the hike- I would have braved it like your daughter to get closer to the water:) And what a grand looking feast to enjoy! The savory cake and Spanish tortilla look so yummy. Any chance you can share recipes?
    Happy T day!

  3. That's a fabulous postcard and beautiful art from an artist I also have never heard of before. Lovely stamps, too.

Gosh, your daughter is fearless. So glad you didn't follow her down to the water's edge. Sounds like she had fun and the river and falls must have been a sight (and sound) to behold. It was a beautiful area.

A savory cake sounds perfect. I think I would prefer it to sweet ones. And that Spanish tortilla sounds wonderful. I have made something similar, but not tortilla de patatas. Your friend's is fluffier than anything I have ever made.

Thanks for sharing your postcard, your savory cake, your daughter's visit, and your water and tea with us for T this Tuesday.

  4. What a wonderful postcard from Russia, great stamp, too. Love the place you visited, but I would have had problems with the wobbly bridge and climbing down over those rocks, phew! The get together looks fab, and the food looks great. I can almost smell the tortilla, yummy! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  5. It looks a lovely postcard with super stamps as well.
The photo of your trip out with your daughter look beautiful, gorgeous scenery. I think I would have had to miss that bridge, I am not good with seeing water beneath me, I get the wobbles myself big style.
Your picnic looks delicious, and you got a good sunny day to enjoy as well.
    Happy T day wishes.

I don't think I really did this correctly, I just posted one of my older post that included a tea cup and some tea bags that really aren't for drinking.. I will get the hang of this.
