A Postcard a Day - Friday 13 Nov 2015

Good Morning! It's nearly weekend!

Today I am linking up with Friday Smiles at Annie's A Stitch in Time.

I have so much to be thankful for that I don't know where to start.
The building work is progressing at a good pace. Next week I will have some photos to show you.

Our lovely kitten is growing and is very playful. Again, some photos are forthcoming.

For now I will show you some postcards that will hopefully make you smile:
Yes, it's Inge Look's naughty old ladies again! They obviously have something to celebrate! This card was sent to me recently by Jaka from Slovenia.

Four days later I received another card illustrated by Inge Look:
This one came from Finland and was sent to me by Marit. She writes that Finland is the land of Inge Look, Ahtisaari, Moomin, Nokia, Santa Claus, reindeer, snow, lakes, forests, archipelago, sauna and  much more. Now I know who Santa Claus is, and Moomin,

but Ahtisaari I had to look up.
Martti Ahtisaari, tidigare president Finland och mottagare av Nobels fredrspris (2).jpg
Marti Ahtisaari is a former president of Finland and a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. He is an expert in international peace mediation, diplomacy and post-conflict state building.

Marit put an interesting stamp on this card:

The Children of Bodom are a rock band. They are classified as a melodic death metal band, that were formed in 1993. They are one of Finland's best selling artists. The name was inspired by the Lake Bodom Murders, an 1960 unsolved murder case on the shores of Lake Bodom.
Interesting, but it doesn't sound like my cup of tea...

Here's something to make you smile (well, at least those of you that sew):
But this one got me giggling:
So cute!

I wish you all a smiley Friday and a good weekend,

Blessings,

Lisca

As always I enjoyed reading your post. Those old ladies certainly do seem to enjoy life. The two little girls are real cuties. The rock band probably wouldn't be my cup of tea either. I like Irish folk music and Italian ballads. Have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing a photo of your kitten. Barbxx

Fab postcards, love the humour but I think the two old(?) grannies takes the prize - what a fab picture.

Hi Lisca, great postcards ... anything that portrays women of my generation having a good time is guaranteed to make me smile :) The stamp is interesting though naming your band after an unsolved murder sounds morbid to me. Enjoyed the funnies. Of course, I'm standing at my computer chores all done and looking my best :) I wonder if the photo of the twins is a forecast of what they will look like when they reach my age! Thanks for sharing. Elizabeth xx

I love those little twinnies dressed up as grannies. Aren't they just so cute?. Two great postcards. I particularly like the top one. I was amused to see the rock band on a stamp. My boys are in to that style of music. One is a drummer in a band. Another is at a hard rock festival this weekend. But it's not my cup of tea. And it is certainly a minority music style in UK. Your post always has something interesting in it. Have a good week. Kate x

Hi Lisca happy weekend....again some super postcards and so interesting the background info. BUT that sewing machine advice had me really laughing - by the time one got all the other manual chores done and 'tidied' oneself up there would be no time left in the day to sew - if I plan a sewing day - it's forget everything else and get right into it. I've seen that photo on FB and had a real chuckle there too. Cheers Robyn

Hi Lisca. I can't send you a pm so will answer your question here and you can remove it if you want to. The restaurant we went to is called Gnome Feliz. If you drive from Vera straight down to the coast, passed the Bullring and Iceland store, about half way down, before you get to Bougainvillea roundabout there is a turning on the left to (Pueto Rey) the big Mercadona store. Gnome Feliz is on the right hand corner as you approach the little roundabout 50m up that turning. Hope you can find it. It is worth a visit.Kate x
