Good morning fellow deskers, here we are again! Lots of
photos today and things to show you.
I have in fact two desks to show you today (or maybe three)...
I’ve got my sewing machine out and I have been doing some sewing! That merits
an exclamation mark because I bought this (el cheapo) sewing machine last year
and then managed to mislay the instructions so the poor thing has been in the
cupboard ever since. When I got my summer clothes out I noticed so many lovely
linen trousers that were so hopelessly out of fashion with bell bottoms and all
sorts of wide legs. I decided to take the bull by the horns and tackle machine and
trousers.
Well, I did it! I managed to refashion my trousers to wearable items
and at the same time I learned how to wind a bobbin and change to a different
colour. I’m so proud of myself!
My real desk is full of postcards. I collect my mail on
Tuesdays and this week there were 6 postcards! (I join Postcrossing.com) I’m
also in the process of writing postcards, so those are also on my desk. I have
yet to get my crafty things out. Won’t be long now....
A little update on the construction of the house as some
people have asked me... Well, we finally have windows in the arches.
The room
that will be my craft room (the most important room of course) is now
usable (not yet for crafting, but I can use it as a 'gym').
My
husband has rigged up my Wii so I can do my excercises (I do ‘My Fitness Coach’
to keep fit and ‘WiiFit’ for a laugh).
The possible third desk is the table I use for doing my
jigsaw. Yes, I love jig saws. It’s great to be retired! Here I am doing a
cartoon impression of Las Vegas. Great fun as I’ve been there and I recognize certain buildings.
That was my contribution today. Not terribly interesting or exciting.... just what's happening here in hot hot hot Spain (it's 40 degrees C in the day).
Have a good week all of you,
Lisca

Ewww! That is hot! Your house is taking shape beautifully:) And look at how much lovely room you're going to have. Gorgeous view from the windows.....& Well done conquering the sewing machine!!!!
Hullo Lisca..
Mm that is indeed very hot and as nice as that craft room view is think will stay here in more temperate climate, thank you.. mind you we do sometimes get 40c we have been voted the nicest most stable climate in Oz and I am biased but totally agree.
Love the fact you get to do your exercises there .. does it get cold as well as very hot?
I cant say I really like jigsaw but do them to keep family company find them tad boring .. wasting all the time only to put it back in the box .. weird, aren't I?
Happy WOYWW Shaz in Oz.x No number yet.

Your house is so nice to look at. I feel really relaxed when I see it, must be the sun streaming in. That is a huge room you have to 'dance' about in lol or is that your craft room to be? I should try and only check my mailbox once a week and see how full it gets LOL, I check mine everyday as I cant wait. is yours too far away that you have to check it only once a week?
Your window looks so impressive Lisca....I love it. I have to admit that I too love doing jigsaws but mine are mainly done on the Ipad these days.
Hugs,

Wow! Nice pics of your home, I like to see what you are doing and where you are living. Because I was curious about the "cave-things" :-)
What a beautiful house you have Lisca. Your craft room is going to be amazing. I live in a doll's house! That's why I have a little cabin in the garden.
I was telling a friend yesterday how when I was a young mum three friends and myself who lived in the same road used to buy our jigsaw puzzles then passed them onto each other as we finished each one. They were happy days.
I hope you have a wonderful week. Barb#18 xx
Lovely photos of your home, is this your cave house? I love the big windows in your craft room, hope it stays cooler than mine, the temperatures have been brutal this last couple of weeks here too.

Love those arches!!! It's beautiful! I joined Postcrossing a few years ago but haven't don any exchanges lately. I may start again as I have some nice new Filipino postcards to give away! How about exchanging postcards? :^) patsy
I find myself evying your future craft room :) good you can keep fit indoors, if it is so hot outdoors! Happy woyww, kristiina #21
Oh I want to come play with you! Your new craft room is going to be so wonderful and what a view!
Glenda #33
And I thought I was doing well with two desks!!! So please for you about the sewing machine, I don't use mine very often but when I 'feel the need' to stitch it is so handy.
Have a good week

Hi Lisca, it's lovely to see your new home coming along. Those windows in the arch will provide the most marvellous scenic view. I'd never get anything done, lol. Love all the postcards, and well done for getting your head around the sewing machine. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz#10 xxx
Yes, Patsy. I'd love to do that. The Filipines are such a beautiful country and I have no postcards at all from there. What kind of card would you like in return? Animals? Black and white? A view from around here? I'll find out your email address and email my postal address to you and then you can do the same once you have my address. Bless you,
Lisca
Yes, do come and play! In a couple of years' time (when all the building is completed) we could organize a craft 'retreat'. You'd only have to find the travel money. I will have plenty of accomodation. Cooking no problem (I like cooking for the 5000) and there are restaurants withing walking/staggering distance. Wouldn't that be nice!
No, it's the building next to the cave house. The old crumbling cave that was there had been demolished by the previous owner and we are building a house on the footprint of that. As it's being built on a cliff it has 4 storeys. It has been exsageratingly (how on earth do you spell that!) well insulated, so I hope not too hot. But I think it will come into its own in winter when the sun on the windows will warm up the room. The summer will be spent in the cave me thinks. When it is all finished I plan to organize a craft retreat for all you guys. All you would need to do is find the air fare. Howsat for an idea!
The new build is next to the cave. I must post photos of the whole complex one day. It's so difficult to explain what a cave house looks like. The cave is nice and cool at the moment I can tell ya!
The postcards get sent to our cave in the country. It is 30 miles along the high way. Not really far but too far (and expensive) to do every day. We only go there once a week and spend a relaxing day (and night) there as we are so busy, we need to get away otherwise we overdo it.
Your new home looks lovely. Your craft room will be amazing when you are all set up.
I do love the arched windows and the idea of real craft room--yay!, but tailoring your trousers is awesome! I did that recently with some shorts, but I need to get better at it. Well done! Sandy Leigh #37
Oh dear, I would melt in that heat! It was hot enough for us in April when we were over there (Nerja).
Great windows, oh my goodness this will be an absolutely beautiful home when you are finished.
Had to smile about the sewing machine - it would be the same with me, I need the manual every time I get it out (so infrequently) but I am sure I read that bell-bottom and flares were the fashion this year. Hope for you I am wrong.
Hugs anyway, Neet 18 xx
Oh, Lisca --- that's too hot for me! It's gorgeous here today: 23°C with a nice breeze. Good for you for figuring out your sewing machine and for redesigning your pants. You are doing a jigsaw puzzle of Vegas and I have just finished a page on Vegas for the DLP for this week, which involves using ephemera.
Happy WOYWW. Stay cool.

I love how your house is coming together. Kudos to you for figuring out your sewing machine without directions and updating your pants. I have a machine with directions and can barely use it. I too love jigsaw puzzles. I haven't built one in almost 3 years though. Three years ago we got 2 kitten and I knew they would lose pieces so I figured no puzzles for that first year. One of them didn't want to grow up right away so add on another year and then we went and got another kitten! That one still hasn't grown up (physically bigger but such a pesky kitten at heart). I may just have to break out the puzzle anyway! Judy #47
Hello love the look of your craft room and look forward to seeing more- a craft retreat in Spain - sounds wonderful. Mind you it was too hot for me in Nerja in April - two years ago! Happy woyww 28
I am very impressed with you working out how to use your machine. The room looks brilliant, can't wait to see it all set up for your crafting. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 30
Hi Lisca, lovely post today. You did well to finally master your sewing machine and alter your trousers - I think I should make time to do the same with some of mine. That's a lovely collection of postcards on your 'real' desk. And your arched windows are beautiful and what a view you have from your craft room to be. I love making jigsaws too but rarely find the time to make one up even though I'm retired too :) Have a great week. Elizabeth x #36
Keeping wondering if the Wii fit actually works... Loving seeing all the "desks" this week. The thought of bell bottom pants gave me a laugh but glad you got the machine figured out, know it's hard enough and you did it without directions! Diane #39
Congratulations on finally using your sewing machine and getting your pants in shape! I also love jigsaw puzzles but I haven't made one for some time because I don't have an empty desk to leave it on. I remember one which was similar to what you are making. It was a cartoon map of Los Angeles.
Good for you to get some exercise!
Happy WOYWW and thanks for dropping by!
Hugs, peggy aplSEEDS@4
Hi Lisca, great post, all sorts happening at your place and very interesting to see the house evolving. Have a great week, I agree - great to be retired. Cheers RobynO#11, stay cool
It IS interesting to us Lisca! And just look at the size of those rooms - and how clean and tidy they are considering you talk about building site! Well done with the sewing machine..I learned at school and haven't stopped using it since, so I forget that there's a learning curve to follow...you are allowed to be really pleased with yourself! Now make room for me, I cannot resist a jigsaw!
sounds like a brilliant idea Lisca, the cave house must be so cool at this time of year, a bit cooler today at the moment, fingers crossed it stays like that.

Well done giving your trousers a new lease of life, Lisca. I still have to get the book out when I use my new sewing machine. It is soooo complicated compared with the old one! The building is coming on great - what beautiful windows! If nothing else, you'll be very fit by the time it's finished lol!!
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #42
You said your post isn't very interesting...trust me it is! Loved how you get postcards from around the world, your house looks like it's going to be amazing and I also enjoy jigsaws (but do them online) and have a WiiFit that is gathering dust ;-( Vikki #53
A lovely blog post and fascinating to see other desker's environments! Well done for altering your trousers - being so short absolutely everything I buy has to have sleeves or legs shortened - so annoying - so there is always a pile of clothing waiting to be done - a job I hate!! The house is looking fab - what wonderful windows - it all looks so spacious and airy, and I love the fact you have a special table for jigsaws - lucky you! Hope you have a great week, and thanks for stopping by my desk earlier - sorry I'm late, I'm struggling to fit everything in this week!
Diana #29
It is so wonderful to see crafters all over the world doing their favourite things and always interesting to see what you do to entertain yourself and keep fit. Have a lovely week.
sandra de @32
I love seeing your home, Lisca! Such a fascinating environment!
Oh, I adore jigsaws too! The only problem is that once one is out on the table, I can't leave it alone and everything else gets neglected :-)
And it's so lovely to see your sewing machine out and in use...well done for altering your trousers - such a sense of achievement, eh?!
Great to see how your place is progressing too - it's looking amazing!
Hugs, LLJ 9 xxx
What fun! Glad your space is coming along. I love puzzles too and is one of the things I intend to play with again once my space is finished. I'm also looking forward to getting out my Total Gym once the space is ready. A body in motion.... Creative Blessings! ~Kelly #41
