WOYWW 312 DNA, a hobbit shop and two mochas

Hi folks,
We went on a 5 day retreat last week, that's why there was no post from me, sorry. It was a beautiful place called Lee Abbey in north Devon, UK. Here is a photo of the view from our room.

I'm back though but as I am travelling there is no craft desk to show....  But here is an unusual desk.

The retreat last week was about Science and Faith.  One of the scientists had brought some simple equipment and we were able to make our own DNA visible and put it in a small vial to hang around our neck. Fascinating!

As we were driving to our next destination in the UK, we stopped at a motorway service station. It was a new one. Guess what, it was built into the landscape. Like in the 'shire' in the Hobbit film. Isn't that cute! The food was excellent.

Another photo from our holiday is of this coffee shop.

This is the outside.

And this was some of the furniture outside. The table was solid wood. That must have been a massive tree! So old! If only it could talk!

We're travelling to Holland tomorrow, so I'll see you all next Wednesday.
God bless,
Lisca

May we 'meet' online many times more. Love, Marit #43 and #44 (forgot the asterix the first time around, oops...)

It sounds like you are having an amazing time during your travels around Europe. The photographs of the places you've visited are fascinating, and I'm intrigued by the Science and Faith retreat you attended. Happy WOYWW, my friend! #55

Were you in the Lakes by any chance? Just that table reminds me of around that area. Glad you were able to sample our lovely summer weather - not quite like sunny Spain is it?
Now where is that Hobbit motorway stop? It is interesting enough to go and see it so I would hate to miss it if I was in the area.
Great to have your own DNA and display it around your neck like that, something to treasure and maybe pass on to future generations.
Happy 6th WOYWW Anniversary - Neet xx
ps have added you to the list for Flat Susan, let me know if you don't want her - but it will be a while yet.

The cffee shop is beautiful isnt it..those stained glass windows and of course, that fabulous furniture...so tactile too. Am blown away that you're carrying a visible piece of your DNA in a glass bottle, how marvellous is that! I hope you found the retreat to be just what you needed!

So glad you had time to share your week with us this Wednesday. I know what you mean by organization. I had to make mine in April so I could get them to Julia in time for the crop.

Looks like you are having a wonderful time on your journeys. Happy, happy 6th WOYWW anniversary from #1.

Hi Lisca, you sure look as though you are having a great time. Hope the journey to Holland is good too. Thanks for the visit to mine. The Bonsai are all mine. I have been caring for these trees since 1975 though I cannot say they all survived the early days. I don't know how old some of them are but I guess the longest surviving tree has been with me since about 1978.
Have a great woyww anniversary day, Angela x 37

Wow what a table! That would make quite a craft desk:)
Happy anniversary, enjoy Holland... We have some students from Holland here and they were happy to get out of the poor weather the forecasts had promised them... Hope it isn't too bad!

Hi Lisca
Many thanks for your comment on my blog. Amazing stuff about DNA - I was once on Jury Duty and we had a whole day of an 'expert' explaining about DNA, I loved the free lesson!!!
Enjoy your travels - I'm off to Paris for a week so will get back to you on my return.
Take care

That is SO COOL! And a good example of why I just hate missing a visit on the day - see me, 4 days later, still desk hopping. Love the travel photos, and with today being rainy and grey here in Hampshire, it's lovely to see such glorious views.

Happy belated 6th-anniversary WOYWW!

Oh your trip sounds interesting. The idea of seeing your own DNA-wow!
I love Lee and spent many a holiday camping around there over the years.

Glad you liked the new service station, when they built it the local news couldn't believe that instead of all the horrible fast food it was going to be local, sustainable items that would be at the forefront of their marketing!
thanks for visiting my desk already
