WOYWW 302,(wax papers, turbans and cork screws...)

Hello deskhoppers!

It’s Wednesday again and I’m back home again after a week in snowy Italy (see yesterday’s post with photos).

My desk is an enormous mess and I have no project underway really.

The circles in the foreground are circles cut out of wax papers used for my little burger press. I couldn’t get the right size and got the quarterpounder size, then got my Sizzix Framelet circles and cut them to size! What’s left are the circles which I will use for something... we crafters don’t throw anything away!

Then there is a postcard with lots of fruit on it. Another of my postcrossing cards. (www.postcrossing.com)
One of many that I received with lots of items in a row. They were made popular by Atelier Nouvelles Images. I have quite a collection of this type of cards (with lots of items on them). Here is another one.

By my phone are two little gauze bags. They were filled with little sweets and were handed out together with the photo frame with baby picture at the baptism of my little grandson. Here is a (bad quality) photo of us girls putting these little presents together at the kitchen table. I had made cards which were a success (Phew!) (see WOYWW 300 for picture of card).

Back to my desk: There is a photo of little cutie and also a photo book of my son’s wedding (a few years ago) that they had made for us.

On the computer is a sewing magazine and a tape measure. The magazine is in Spanish and I was checking out my size before attempting to sew something. Some of you bloghoppers are great seamstresses (is that what you call someone who sews?) and I was inspired to start sewing again. Hey Ho!

Yes, I find other people’s desks inspiring. So when I get back from the gym I will attempt to visit as many desks as I can and say hello (unfortunately hopping desks doesn't get my step count up, so I go to the gym first! lol!)

Have a good week all of you!

Lisca

Morning, Lisca. Hope the gym isn't tooooo taxing this morning! Yes, seamstress is the right word. Your desk looks great - I just loved all those circles! Some super family photos - and glad the cards were so well liked.
Take care. God bless.

A great idea to use those circles leftover from your burger making paper. I used to have one of those burger presses. I wish I had kept it.Happy WOYWW

I'm impressed with you going to the gym before crafting....what self discipline you have :-) No early morning twinnie fun for me today as I'm recovering from a chesty cold caught from them last week so I'm able to have a leisurely snoop round the Wednesday desks :-)

I smiled when I read your comment about saving your wax paper circles from your burger press project, since I often save scraps too. Your postcard collection sounds like a lot of fun. Happy WOYWW! #44

I love the postcards with the collected items, repeating items makes a powerful image isn't it?! And yes, we crafters keep every scrap of paper... my closets are full of boxes with 'left over scraps' and such. Have a great day Lisca, hope the sun shines where you are 'cause we have a misty day here at the sea... Love from Holland, Marit #45

I also have a problem throwing things away, like most crafters. I do not know about any other craft shows in May as the NEC is the only one near enough to me to go and it is one of the biggest. Perhaps someone else could give you some ideas. i hope you have a good time on your visit in May. xx Maggie #19

A lot of action again Lisca! You really are a multi talent! Will you share your sewing project? Can´t wait to see it!
Thank you for your earlier visit and your nice comment. I plant in pots a lot, as we live practically in the woods and the deer eat the flowers and we are sitting on rock, so there is not much soil.

I've been saving little scraps of underpaper, wondering if I should throw it away... Ended up glueing the bits in my art journal with the thought that I'd gesso them =texture, no worry about diverse colours, but the colours ended up looking fine and being a delicious border. Good that they weren't thrown away, thats the way it goes!

You good girl going to the Gym. It's very difficult to throw things away, you never know when they might come in handy. Thank you so much for the visit, been and had a look at the snow pictures. I think the streets have more snow on them than we have here I France. have a great week, Angela x 28

Thanks so much for your sweet visit today. Boy you are right...we crafters don't throw anything away. That's why, this past weekend, I spent hours going through boxes of scraps I had kept to consolidate and yes, throw away some. It was a good cleanout. Your kids are so beautiful! Sandy Leigh #53

Lovely pic of all you girls preparing for the baptism...doesn't matter about the quality, it's the subject matter that's important! And I'm very impressed that you're going to sew some clothes, you're braver than I am :-)

Love the pc of the corkscrews, I have one of breads and one of cheeses - must check them out sometime and see if they are what you are talking about.
The little bags you girls made sound lovely and what a nice way to commemorate something like a baptism.
Thanks for visiting me earlier
Hugs, Neet 30 xx
ps the mini distress inks were £7.50 for a set of four (I got 3 sets to make 12) and the little tin which holds them was £4.00. Mine came from Oyster Stamps.

Welcome home Lisca, and nice to see your desk again, especially looking so busy! I am sure you will find something lovely to do with the circles. Like you I hate throwing anything like that away! Thanks for your lovely comment and your kind words and prayers. I am feeling a lot better about the postponement now, and I expect we'll hear something soon. It's not easy not having a date because you can't plan anything. Ideally I'd like to be in next week, but we shall see.

Happy WOYWW,

Oh, Lisca --- what a journey you had! But I know full well that it was all worth it to be with your family. What an adorable grandson you have!!!! A perfect little round head and a beautiful sweet face. :) His parents are very good looking too. And your outfit for the Christening looks awesome! Looks like it was just a wonderful get together and I'm so happy for you. Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

I think you've probably gotten a ton of hopping done. Just about every blog I've visited already has your name on it! ;)
Those circles look like they could be a lot of fun to layer. I too find other peoples' desks inspiring. I'm a bit of a voyeur in that way too as I'm just nosy and like to see how other people handle being creative. Thanks for hopping by my post already! :)

Thank you for your two lovely comments, Lisca. I agree with you that the sculptures were a little difficult to interpret! Interesting, though. Yes, we are running both buggies - the big one is ideal for trips out on my own direct from the house, and is more comfortable for just sitting for a long time (e.g. church) but the little one can go in the car for trips for us both - we had such a lovely one today in the sunshine! Our options are now much broader and we are free to do so much more. Loved hearing about your friend Jean and her coloured hair! Yes - playful is the word! We need to have some FUN in our lives in the middle of our various troubles lol!

So glad you like the bed mock-up. Wait tilll you see the real thing! It will take a while to complete but it will be so worth it in the end. Yes, that's a Teasmade - I've had it for years and use it every day. The motor grinds its teeth most of the time, but I'm so used to it that it doesn't disturb me. I love my cup of tea in bed before I get up, snuggled up in bed with a good book and a kitty or two! Bliss.

Lisca, thank you for your very helpful comment on my new ileostomy blog - I hadn't realised you were a nurse. That is a very useful suggestion and I will certainly do as you suggest. You have the great honour of being the very first person to comment on my new blog!! Thanks!
