WOYWW 299.... a patch of patchwork

Hello lovely blogreaders! Today we desk hop again! I’m looking forward to seeing all your projects, new stash and reading about what you’ve been up to.

My desk is in card making mode. I have promised to make 15 cards for my DIL which need to be ready next week. So you can see I am in full flow, as they say.

The scrapbook page of my dad’s photos (Last week) hasn’t seen much progress as my priorities have been elsewhere.
The printed paper just by the ‘Travel Lite’ lamp is a list of keyboard shortcuts for PSE 6&7 (!). I’m itching to learn to digiscrap but I only have an older version of PSE that I bought years ago and use (a bit) for photos. I’m not going to buy an updated version until I can manage this one reasonably.
Then on the left you see a piece of patchwork which I’m finishing.  Last Saturday I went on a day long workshop to learn to do patchwork. (see previous blog)

I really enjoyed it. Here is a photo with the first thing we learnt to do. (A cushion cover) and in the afternoon we started to do the hexagons but I haven’t quite finished those.

Monday is the day we always go home for a day and a night (we are still ‘camping’ on the building site), so that not only means I can use my lovely bathroom (in stead of a utility shower) but we collect the mail of course. This time there were 7 postcards! Oh joy! Here is one of them from Germany.

The writing reads: “ An eine altbekannte Tur klopfen,
Erinnerungen vom Staub befreien, Den Garten neu bepflanzen."
Translated that would be: To knock on a familiar door, to dust off memories and to re-plant the garden. (I’m doing this off the top of my head but Gabriele will correct me I’m sure, if it’s not right.)

That’s it for this week. If you have been wondering what all this desk hopping business is all about... have a look at Julia’s blog at http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com.es/

Have a great week y’all,

Lisca

    1. 30 km. That's too far (and too expensive) to travel every day so we only go once a week and in themeantime we live on a building site in very basic accomodation.

  10. Hi Lisca! Your patchwork looks so much fun! You must have had a ball in that workshop. Good luck with your card-making entreprise. I'm sure they'll turn out fantastic and you can show them to us next time. I started out with PSE 6 when I did digital scrapbooking, then upgraded to PSE 10. I didn't like the versions 11 onwards! They completely redesigned the format, and not in a good way in my opinion. PSE 10 is great and it has a few features missing from the earlier versions. Now I use CS6, but knowing PSE really helped me getting to grips with PhotoShop. If you have any questions, I might be able to help! It's a steep learning curve, but once you get it, it's so much fun! And you don't even have to tidy up after playing, LOL! Thanks for your visit earlier! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle

  11. Lisca hello, thanks for sharing your space this week, I think you patchwork is great, this is something I have never tried to learn but applaud others for doing it. As for PSE ah so many twists and turns and tricks, stick with it you will get there. I really like 10 and will be sticking with it for quite a long time. Love the cushion cover too and it is really great getting happy mail, there should be more of it.

  15. Hi Lisca, thanks for your visit! I love that blue door in Germany postcard--I had to pin it! You have a lot of fun diecuts and things on your table--your scrapbooking and cardmaking looks like fun. Yes, those are fuschia flowers I made from yarn on my craft table--but the loom was off to the side out of the photo. You were seeing the handle of my ATG gun. Hugs! Sandy Leigh #48

  16. It's only when we have to do without, that everyday things like showers take on a whole new meaning! How lovely to get seven postcards, Gabriele's is lovely and I like the sentiment too :-)
Look at you with your patchwork..how fantastic is that? Once I get finished with my bags, I'm going to start doing some quilt as you go patchwork, bought the batting already. Can't wait to start :-)

  23. Lisca, what a lovely quilted project, a cushion! And your hexagons are looking good. I will confess that is all the further I got on that kind of quilt! LOL I can do big squares, but those hexagons; there are just too many to do! Thanks for stopping by earlier at my space. #27

  24. Gosh, the way the workshop was prepared and the length of it, ten till seven! Good value I'd say. The cushion cover looks lovely, and goodness, those hexagons are tiny! I bet as you stitch you're busy thinking up things you can make in patchwork! I wonder how long the fifteen cards will take you....what a pleasurable job to have!

  25. Beautiful patchwork, Lisca! I've never really taken to this, but did a little, many years ago - but I am always amazed and filled with admiration at the work of others. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and for your good wishes re my operation tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back in circulation again.

I have updated my Cancer Diary page with today's events.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  27. Thanks for your lovely comment, Lisca. I am feeling a lot better today in every way. I know that my emotions are very up and down at the moment and I hold them lightly, knowing that what I am feeling at any given moment won't last! I have just uploaded a positive post for today with some fun things on it, and I know when the rollercoaster takes me back down into a dip, I can look back on this and be encouraged - all my friends are so lovely, so supportive and caring, and your prayers mean so much to me. Thank you that your group is continuing to pray for me - I so appreciate this! I am feeling a lot more peaceful now, as is my hubby, who is very, very tired after all the stress with Mum particularly, and every time he sits down he goes to sleep! At least he is not waking at 5 every morning any more, worrying about things.
