WOYWW 297 New stash and strung up dried fruit

Hi Folks,

It’s Wednesday again and I’m looking forward to do some snooping around the desks of crafters all over the world. If you don’t know what I’m talking about look at Julie’s blog at http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com.es/

But first of all I have to reveal the mess on my own desk! Here it is.

I’ve started to put together some stuff to do another scrapbook page using the CSI challenge (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/) . One of the requirements this time was (amongst other things) to use leather, so that piece of black you see, was once part of a little coin purse which had ripped. As a crafter you don’t throw anything away, now do you! There is also an old sketch from Page Drafts and the prepared 12x12 page on top of my laptop.

I’m very excited about some new stash I bought last week. Here is a better picture:

There is an alphabet stamp set and six packs of beautiful washi tape. The blue things are embellishments in the shape of fishies. As I’m a Christian and the fish is a Christian symbol, I can certainly find use for those.  I bought the whole lot at Lidl’s, a European supermarket that changes their non-food range every week and occasionally sell craft items. When they do, I’m straight there as they do nice things. I’m particularly pleased with the washi tape as these are lovely, and up until now I’ve only been able to buy tape online.

My last photo has nothing to do with crafting but is something typical about living here in rural Spain.

It’s a string with dried fruit on it. My neighbour gave it to me when she heard we were on a diet and couldn’t eat sweets or chocolates. Apparently they are small fruit that look like a small apple. These have been dried and then strung up. We occasionally pull one off and eat it. They’re very sweet and yummy.

That’s  it for today. Have a good week all of you. I’ll try and visit as many of you as I can over the course of the week.
Hugs

Lisca

PS I've just realised I forgot to reduce my photos in size. I do apologise. I just hope my page doesn't take a long time to load....I really haven't got time to take them down, reduce them and then put them back on.... sorry.

  3. No trouble loading at all, Lisca. Lidl are great for all sorts of things - we have one about three miles away. Enjoy the strung fruit in the absence of chocolate - and enjoy the scrapbook page.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. I'm a master at not throwing things away! I also buy old leather jackets and make them into covers for journals. The trouble is I buy too much and don't get to use them! It's piling up but I love them too much!!! What do you call the stringed fruit? Intriguing!! Happy WOYWW! patsy

    1. I think it might be Rowan fruit. But as I didn't see the tree I couldn't be sure. It's called 'serva or serba' in Spanish and I googled it and it came up with Rowan. But Rowan fruits that I know are slightly smaller and are quite bitter so I don't know really.

  6. I love all your new stash and can imagine you having lots of fun with it all. I have lots of 'I can't throw that out just in case' things and really can't wait to get my new sewing room completed so I can find homes for it all :-)
I must admit when I saw the last photo I straight away thought it was to hang out for the birds [I put all sorts of yummy bits out for them here]....that was until of course I read what they were....they sound yummy....enjoy.

Marit woyww #43

  9. Hi Lisca, Lidl can be great for bargains occasionally, I agree. And Aldi sometimes too.I've managed to not get into washi tape yet- I don't need something else I have to collect every roll I see, lol. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #13 xx

  10. Hi Lisca, yes, they are indeed wooden blocks with holes drilled in. They come from a European company called OPITEC(https://www.opitec.com/) and are intended for storing things like scissors/pliers etc, although one has assorted sized holes for stuff rather than pairs. Mind you, a good handyman could probably make some up! Hugs, Shaz xx

  11. Here is the page link, they also have sites for Spain, etc if you Google the name. http://uk.opitec.com/opitec-web/c/zz/p/2/cID/c3I6dG9vbCBzdG9yYWdlOQ==

  14. It sounds like the septic system that you have in Spain is less troublesome than the one we have here. You didn't deteriorate the discussion, but added much interest to what I started. I am smiling, thanks, in spite of this set-back because it's WOYWW and these visits are happy things. :<)

  16. I love your washi tapes - what a great selection you have there - I love the stuff and can't resist adding rolls to my ever growing collection even though I don't use it much! I shall look forward to seeing what you do with yours. I'm intrigued by the fruit, what a lovely way to keep it. Hope you have a great week,

  17. That's it we are all off to lidl.
I've been using washi tapes myself today on my wrecked book. I'll be posting about it in a day or two.
Thanks for dropping by. Hope you are warmer in Spain than us in the UK.

  19. I had no problem loading your page, Lisca - then again I have a pretty fast connection. Once I loaded my blog on somebody else's laptop and was horrified to see that my photos took absolute ages to download, even though I try to keep them around 200-300K each. I LOVE washi tapes! I'm probably addicted to them. I can spend hours on eBay looking at them trying to decide which ones to buy. The problem is, even though they are cheap singularly, if you buy a few, the price can really add up! More than once I have put dozens of them in my virtual basket, painstakingly selecting the ones I liked, only to dump my basket and leave. If I did that in a real shop, they would think I was crazy, LOL! Thank for visiting earlier today! Have a great week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #27

  20. love your little chats about rural spain as my parents live in Andulucia too (other side of Granada from yourselves) and so it is like their stories too! Love the crafty stash!

  21. New supplies how wonderful and I am not sure about you both being on a diet you do have to live a healthy life but you have to have fun too. Dried fruit can actually hold to much sugar as it concentrates in the drying process so be careful with that. I to have to watch my sugar intake and this has been told to me by a doctor to avoid. Get cracking with the creating and I love your stories about your villages and country.

  22. Those tapes are gorgeous, let's hope they start to stock them more often. I don't think I could live without chocolate, it's a staple for me :) Enjoy your dried fruit, it looks quite yummy actually. Have a great week,

  25. Can't wait to see what you do with that leather!! And the washi looks FABULOUS....& my page took no longer to load than any other time....it's only at YOUR end when you're uploading that happens. All it means our end is that the photos are bigger, clearer, sharper and easier to see!!!! So I'm GLAD you forgot:) One of these days, when I'm off a few teams, I'll join in with this .... I think it's a GREAT idea:):)

    1. Thanks for visiting Lizzie, and for the advice on the photos. I've posted another blog and I didn't reduce the photos. I won't do that anymore. You're right. It's because we have such a slow connection (via radiowaves and it's only 1 mb) that it took ages.
I'll look forward to welcoming you to this deskhopping when the time comes.
PS I've just uploaded a scrapbook page on my blog where I use one of my new washi tapes.

  29. So glad you didn't reduce your photos - if you don't we can enlarge them even further (or so I think?). Love your Lidl find - we have Lidl here in the UK but I haven't seen these particular goodies.
Quite fancy that dried fruit necklace!

  34. What an interesting post, Lisca. Love your Christian fishies and all that delicious washi tape, and the intriguing dried fruit.

Thank you for all your lovely comments. I've got so many emails, blog comments and forum posts to catch up on since today's visit to the surgeon. Your kind and encouraging words are so uplifting! - and especially your prayers. Although the decision we have come to about how to proceed with my cancer isn't what I expected, and is a lot worse, at least the outcome should be a lot easier to live with than what they originally proposed, and I am sure I will become an accomplished bag lady in due course, even if a gutless one lol!!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  35. Lisca - I think I've inadvertantly deleted one of your comments! I've published the others but if you could check, and perhaps redo the one if you can't find it, I'd be grateful. I pressed the "delete" instead of the "publish" button, I think. Sorry!

    1. I can't think of which one that would be. The ones I wrote recently are all still there. Anyway don't fret, you read them at the time, so it doesn't matter. (Not at all important in the grand scheme of things....)

  36. Hi Lisca,
Wow, all that Washi tape is a great find! And you can't have too much of it :) Having said that though, there are various ways of making your own too, which is quite satisfying. Maybe I will do a post about it?
That's an interesting dried fruit chain.
Thanks for stopping by earlier too.
