WOYWW (officially linked for the first time)

WOYWW (officially linked for the first time)

Hi peeps, Thank you for popping by.
It's Wednesday and I’m doing WOYWW through the official link for the first time. I’ve read the instructions, and they seem pretty straightforward... (famous last words!)
This is what's on my desk:

An exciting little parcel arrived the other day. I’d ordered some cutting dies and embossing folders and they have arrived! The one I immediately wanted to play with is the Docrafts Xcut large dies. I got some that will make Christmas decorations. (Yes, I know I shouldn't mention the C-word). I lead a little craft workshop every Monday in the village and I'd like to do these decorations with my ladies.

I picked up the first piece of paper I could find just to try it out and here are the two I did. The green one is cardstock. I had tried paper first but that was too floppy and fiddly.

The red one I managed to do with paper but next time I will use cardstock too for the same reasons. I really like them and already have some ideas how I could make them really pretty. Has anyone else got these? Please show us some pictures of what you did with them. That would be great.

The embossing folders are Christmassy as well and because they are not clearly visible I have quickly run them through the machine and inked them so you can see.

Sorry, it’s not a clear photo. I would love to buy some Cordination cardstock but I haven’t been able to find any here in Spain yet, and having it sent over from UK costs more in postage than the price of the paper (because of the weight). I’ll keep on looking though.

Then last week I went shopping at Lidl (European supermarket) and they had this set of acrylic effects pastes for sale. That is another thing I find difficult to obtain in this country especially as I live in a rural area in the middle of nowhere! So I had to try them out on some stencils I have and I like them a lot so the other day I begged my DH to drive me back into town and I bought two more sets. I’m not sure whether I would use the gold a lot, but they say it’s coming back into fashion.....

I haven’t got a project on the go, as I’m doing a digital photo book at the moment which is taking up all my time.

I plan to use the photos from my previous blog (‘Almonds’) on a double page scrapbook layout next week. Let’s hope the CSI colour palette fits with the green of the trees as I love their challenges. (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/)

That’s it for today.

Thanks for looking.

God bless and.... keep scrapping!

Lisca

  6. So nice that you are finally a "proper" member of WOYWW, Lisca! It is really fun. I love all the new things you've got, and no doubt you'll have endless fun with them. Thos paper sculpture decorations look amazing, and it must take some doing, slotting them together correctly! The paste from Lidl looks amazing and I must try and look out for that.

Thanks for your visit and another nice comment! Thank you also for the hints and the recipe for the gratin. The last time I made it, when I cooked the courgettes in olive oil in the oven, I didn't leave them in so long and they didn't produce as much liquid. Also, the courgettes I used this time were rather large (given to us by someone who grew them) and they were really more like marrows in consistency, which probably made them a lot wetter! It was delicious all the same, with all the parmesan cheese.

I'm glad you approve of my new-look office! The OT told Mum to take the rug up because it was a trip hazard and it ended up in the loft. When my hubby measured it for me I knew it would be ideal, and I really like how it looks with the black furniture. As for the diet, I have absolutely no intention of giving up, because this is the first time I've found a diet that is sustainable, and that works for me. I know about plateaux, and you just have to be patient and push through them!

    Happy WOYWW,

    1. Thanks for commenting Shoshi. Lidls did the paste as part of a 'back-to-school' promotion. There were lots of other things, mainly aimed at children, but there were artist brushes and acrylic paints too. Last month they did beautiful 12x12 scrapbook papers. I always keep my eyes peeled for the special offers although it can be dangerous. You go in to buy some coloured pencils and you come out with a trolley full of goodies!

  7. Hi, Lisca, welcome to the WOYWW fold! :-) What a lot of fun eye candy in this post -- I've never seen dies like that, that allow you to make 3D ornaments -- very cool. Happiest of WOYWWs and thanks for visiting. ~ Laura #53

  9. Welcome to WOYWW Lisca! A new desk groaning with new stash - lovely! Those Do craft dies are such good value aren't they, so many for the price. I've stopped going to the non-food section of Lidl, I end up buying far too much craft stuff because it's a good price!! Love the ideas for the Christmas decorations, I bet your craft group will be delighted!

PS Just a tip if you want folks to comment on blog hops etc you'll need to get rid of word verification as it slows folks up, and is not popular although they have made easier..... if you need instructions on how to remove it let me know.

You're right there are a few on here that cringe at the C word. Have fun with the rest of your toys and I look forward to seeing more of your desk.

  17. A word .... you might want to get rid of the word verification a lot of desker's don't like it, and wont comment because of it, sometimes it can be a pain. All you need to do is switch to moderating mode and moderate the comments that way.
