A Postcard A Day - Friday 23 Dec 2016 - Friday Smiles (photo heavy)

Good Morning peeps!

Are you ready to sing? One, two, three:

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!" (Don't you just loooove the Bublé version!)

I hope you are all happy and relaxed. Please don't get stressed. I'm more or less ready for Christmas. It's just going to be me and hubby. Bliss!

I have the menu sorted and the meat bought. I have ordered brussels' sprouts at the local veggie place (sprouts are difficult to find here) and she will have some in on Saturday. Hurray! (I suppose the Spanish don't eat sprouts).
I have put a little tree up for the first time in years (as we have been living in a building site for so long) and have hung our cards on the stairs. The cat has tried to play with the baubles, but he did it only once and then got bored. Luckily, otherwise we would have to do this:

I would like to share a few more photos from Madrid today as this blog is about smiles. I will be linking up with Annie at A Stitch in Time where we share the silver lining of the past week.
One of the highlights was a visit to the Lindt shop (Lindt is a famous European brand of quality chocolate). Here is the hubby holding his haul (It was his birthday after all!).

This photo was taken out the window of a first floor Thai restaurant. It is the name of the street. In this case Embroiderer's street. Looks like the professional embroiderers in olden days were men!

The visit to the railway museum was great. Here is one of the antique carriages:
There was a raised walkway so we could look inside. This was a bathroom (apologies for the bad photo):

And this is the dining room, reminiscent of Orient Express. I'm expecting Poirot to turn up any minute!

Now, I mustn't forget my postcard. It's the naughty aunties again, designed by Finnish Inge Löök. This one I received last week from Germany.
How about some funnies?

Here are a few funnies I lifted from Denthe's blog. (Have you seen her 2017 calender yet? Mine arrived last week!)
Here are the funnies:

Honestly, who would want a vacuum cleaner for Christmas.....

That's it from me. Here is last nights' sunset out of our window.

May your holidays be filled with love and good company and memorable moments.

Happy Christmas!

  2. Ah a lovely post Lisca, I saw a funny when was googling I nearly shared and should've done about a cat rearranging the Christmas tree, glad yours has survived. Well done on being organised I should've shared my tree and such but forgot. Did think of it then forgot.
Hope your sprouts are yummy plus, are they Brussel sprouts or bean sprouts???
Folks eat both here, but I'm not much into either as they don't agree with me.
Blessings of our Lord upon you as we remember Jesus' birthday and a healthy 2017.

    1. I did mean brussels' sprouts, which have to feature in every British Christmas dinner (My hubby is British). But bean sprouts are difficult to find here too, as the rural Spaniard is not into oriental food. I must learn to make my own one day.

  3. Lots of smiles here today and I'm sure there will be lots more for you to come. Lovely post Lisca, gorgeous train and the Christmas tree brings back memories as my mother in law used to hang her tree from the ceiling but the right way up. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and an even better New Year with lots more smiles of course!. Angela xXx

  4. Thanks for linking up your smiles and for your lovely comments. I feel so blessed to always be able to find something to smile about each week even when life throws its challenges at us....and we've had rather a lot lately. Focusing on the happy moments certainly helps.
Wishing you a happy, peaceful Christmas and here's hoping we have lots of smiles to share in 2017.
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  5. I'm not just smiling, I'm laughing. I loved this post. The Lindt shop looks fabulous. We get them here, too, so I had NO idea they came from Madrid. Great chocolate. Much better than what you find (made) in the U.S.

Loved the tree. Glad your fur baby left it alone. I don't have room for a full length tree, so have table trees. Thankfully, neither of my "boys" climb on the tables.

I assure you, those look NOTHING like my grandmother's undies. They are far more risque than she would have worn when I was growing up. Loved the sentiment, though, and felt the same way.

Have a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your holidays and have a truly lovely, safe, warm, stress free, and healthy day.

    1. Lindt chocolate is actually Swiss, and the chocolates are sold in boxes in 'nice' shops. But I had never seen an actual Lindt shop, that sells chocolates loose and only Lindt and nothing else. Awesome!

    2. Apropos the underwear: they look like men's y-fronts more than ladies knickers....

  9. I hope you had a lovely day together yesterday Lisca. We were just the two of us plus our grandson, and it was nice to do everything at our pace. Today we had a long walk along the sea front to wear off some of the over-eating.
When we first came here, sprouts were never seen, but this year they were in all the local markets and supermarkets, and Iceland even had them still growing on a tall stem. In some ways I am sad they feel the need to move from their customs to meet the demands of the English, but I do know a lot of folk who were pleased to be able to buy them.
    I love your kitty-crysalis.
Enjoy the rest of the week. Kate x
